Voted Top VA site! See Reviews. Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch is conveniently located at the north end of Fort Valley. The recreational draw to this area is hard to beat in VA, and this property has it all for an amazing outdoor weekend! The ranch comprises 40 acres of lowland acreage designated for the camp, including a 5-acre lake. The Cedar Grove sites 1, 2, and 3 are along the banks of Passage Creek located within a sparse, groomed Cedar grove. They are all a short walk (or drive) to the lake and beach amenities. Each site has varying access to the creek, so check out the site details. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mountain views in the background. It's on the opposite side of the lake from the Cedar Sites. This site has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. It's a delicate site, so the accommodations and group size is strictly limited. Check out the reviews and extensive gallery for many options of this amazing property! Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. Taskers Gap OHV/ATV park is a short drive south, and the valley is sandwiched between both forks of the Shenandoah River for those looking to paddle.

Lakeside Mountain Stream is a secluded site tucked between the mountainside forest and a 5-acre lake. This site is limited to 10 people / 5 cars and that can get tight if your group is not consolidated. This Lakeside site is right on the edge of the water, features its own dock, has a mountain seasonal stream running through, and Passage Creek a short walk away. The Lakeside site can accommodate travel trailers but with limited maneuverability and size capabilities (see details and photos). The Lakeside site is great for small friends groups or families who want a very secluded site, amazing mountain views, and the convenience of water at your feet. The layout has flat waterfront tent space and fire ring, and an upper tier for parking, trailers, or more tents. On the opposite side of the lake is a large mowed common area for lakeside hanging, a beach area, as well as a fleet of boats to play with. BYO inflatables. The lake is stocked with Bass, Catfish, and Bluegill. Please catch and release.

A great mix of open areas with Mountain views and shady areas for tents and hammocks. #1 is right on the banks of Passage Creek with a short, easy-access trail to the water. All sites have access to the lake with a short walk or drive to the beach area (200 yards). There is a large mowed common area for lakeside hanging as well as a fleet of boats to play with. BYO inflatables. The lake is stocked with Bass, Catfish, and Bluegill. Please catch and release.

A few small campers and pop-us could set up here but it's well suited for car camping and tents. The site is right on the bank of Passage Creek with water access down a bank trail. All sites have access to the lake with a short walk or drive to the beach area (200 yards). There is a large mowed common area for lakeside hanging as well as a fleet of boats to play with. BYO inflatables. The lake is stocked with Bass, Catfish, and Bluegill. Please catch and release.

Passage Creek is stocked with Trout. Voted Top VA site! See Reviews. Cedar Grove 2 is the most shaded site. It is best for large family groups who are mostly tent camping. Small trailers and pop-ups fit fine but there is a little less maneuverability in #2. This site has a smaller central open lawn surrounded by many flat shaded spots for tents and cars. It's right on the banks of Passage Creek but with limited access down to the water. I've cleared trails to the water but the bank is steep along site 2. All sites have access to the lake with a short walk or drive to the beach area (200 yards). There is a large mowed common area for lakeside hanging as well as a fleet of boats to play with. The lake is stocked with Bass, Catfish, and Bluegill. Please catch and release.

This listing is set up for those who want all 4 sites (the "Whole Camp") for a single group. The base price gets you 20 guests with the option to add many more. This option was created for those who want privacy for their group, flexibility on how to set up the camp, and freedom to not bother other guests. It's a great option for large family/friend reunions, celebrations, club outings, milestone events...ect. Please message me before booking to confirm your celebration is an ideal candidate. I have a few other additions, such as a Hay Wagon stage for music or performances, lawn games, and a massive bonfire option (if timber is available) Book in advance, as soon as a single site books this option is blocked.

Lakeside Mountain Stream
We’ve been back to this site probably 10 times now. Simply put, we love it. The prepaid firewood delivery option made it easy, and then being able to purchase more wood at the site ensured we were warm throughout a chilly weekend. The stars were out in full force yet again, a treat for us city dwellers. Looking forward to our next time back.

What a perfect spot! The property is amazing and the lakeside campsite is one of the best we've ever stayed on the east coast. Picturesque, quiet and secluded. Might even bring the dog and the kid next time ;)

The sites were large and had a huge fire ring and little grill. The pond is beautiful in the mornings and there's tons of free equipment if you feel like a paddle. The owner/caretaker is lovely and gives great local advice and the porta-potties were very clean. The little creek running around the property brings lots of ambiance and the occasional deer! No water options here but the national campground north of the property has a well/pump.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been here over the last few years. This is our go-to campsite. The location on the lake is simply the best. This time a new friend who’s an avid camper joined. He said while looking across the mirror-effect on the lake, “I can see why you keep on coming back here.” There’s something special about this place. On this particular trip, the fall colors were fully out and the stars were lighting up the night sky. Can’t wait to come back.

The lakeside camp site is incredible! we were three families camping there with little ones running around and having a blast. There was plenty of firewood available for camp circles, canoe and kayak rides, and some great local hikes. we can’t wait to come back! This will hopefully become one of go-to spots for family camping weekends!

Wonderful site, not crowded, great proximity to Shenandoah hiking trails and on site boating and fishing with the kids was a blast. Portability potties made it an easier camping experience with the little ones. Absolutely a 10/10 site for families with elementary age kids.

Our second time staying at Pastimes. This time at a different site. We had a great time. Clean, fish food that the kiddos enjoyed dropping at the dock. Lots of different piers to fish from! Sites are big and comfortable with a table and fire ring. Love this place!

Such a lovely space! We were lucky with warm weather for early October so having the little pond was nice! We stayed at Cedar Grove 1 which is the closest to the road but also the biggest. Lots of room to spread out if you are with a lot of people. This site has a picnic table, regular sized fire ring, a larger one for bigger groups, and a grill. We also added on the firewood bundle and it was delivered to our site. I was also able to hang my hammock by a cluster of trees. There are plenty of trees for shade and even though you can see the other campsites, you’re still quite far from them. The porta potties were well stocked and about as clean as they can get. Unfortunately we think the kids from the other sites stood on the seats so they were muddy. With a quick walk down to the pond, you get amazing views. Kayaks are set out and there are plenty more by the shed, along with paddles, life vest in many sizes, and fish food. At night we had nice clear skies for stargazing. I was able to capture some astrophotography! We are big fans of this campsite and can’t wait to return!

I almost never leave reviews, but this place deserves one. From the photos, it was clear the Lakeside Mountain Stream site was beautiful—but they don’t come close to capturing how breathtaking it really is. It’s truly a slice of heaven. Being able to park and set up a tent just feet from the lake was peaceful and serene. I brought my dog here for one last weekend together before she crossed the rainbow bridge, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place. The atmosphere, the setting, and the quiet beauty made it unforgettable. From the lakeside site, there’s even a small, picturesque trail leading to Passage Creek, where you can wade through the water or let your dogs splash around. I also explored the more traditional campsites, which were spacious, well-kept, and equally beautiful. The entire property was immaculate and clearly maintained with care. Eric was incredibly responsive and helpful, and if you’re fortunate, you may get to meet his father, Chuck—a kind, welcoming man who built this hidden gem with his own hands. Remarkable. If you’re considering it, just book the Lakeside Mountain Stream site—you won’t regret it. It’s a place you’ll carry with you long after you leave.

This was a fabulous hipcamp. Every about it was memorable. Site 1 was huge with a enormous fire pit as well as a camp grill and a smaller firepot. Also has access to a creek. When the sun came out we plopped our chairs in the creek with a fever and enjoyed the babbling of the water and beautiful scenery. The complimentary boats and Kyacks, life jackets and even fish food was great! We fly fished off the docks and caught several good size fish. We will absolutely be coming back. Great little shops and places to eat not far also. Hiking and lots of histoor the area

Lovely sites and grounds. The lake/mountain views were pristine and the creek was refreshing during the July heat wave. We had a group of 18 (14 adults and 4 children) and a dog. We booked cedar grove sites 1, 2, and 3 and had plenty of space for 9 tents of varying sizes and a 25 ft class c camper with lots of room to spread out. We used site 2 fire pit and picnic table as base camp. Would definitely return! Fishing in the lake was the icing on top, fun for all ages!!

This spot continues to be a favorite — it’s the perfect place to unwind and connect with nature. There are plenty of life jackets in all sizes, along with floats, kayaks, and other water gear already on-site, which makes packing a lot easier. The fishing was a hit — everyone in our group caught something! The creek is easily accessible from multiple points, and the lake? It's an absolute dream. Lakeside camping is stunning no matter the time of day — sunrise, midday, or sunset. Each campsite has its own grill, making meals simple and convenient. We were also impressed with the clean portojohns, handwashing station, and even a large mirror — thoughtful touches that make a difference. This property is ideal for a weekend getaway, a group gathering, or even a family reunion. Honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. One important tip: Be sure to finalize your guest count on HipCamp before arriving — you won’t be able to make changes after check-in, and cell service can be spotty. This way the host doesn’t have to contact HipCamp and manage the mistake. Thank you Eric! He’s the best host!

Eric is a great communicator. The campsite is so wonderful, and the lake was beautiful and so fun to enjoy with all of the boats and floats from the shed. There’s a town not too far away in case you forgot to pack anything and need to make a quick trip to the store. I would definitely come back again and I highly recommend staying here!

We have been here many times and really enjoy it. Over the years Eric has made some nice small improvements that really stand out. Gravel circles under the fire pits and self service wood bundles and many more. Everything is always well manicured and private. We highly recommend and will return many more times.

Beautiful scenic location right on the water, we enjoyed having a dock to visit with our friends even in the rain! Incredible surprise waterfall behind our campsite. Perfect location for large groups too. We will definitely be back.
