Was a beautiful area with easy access to the river. Upfront has an open field that allows you to see the stars, trains do come by towards the night and the morning. They actually were a little charming and gorgeous to see through the night.

Awsome place to camp.
I spent a very peaceful night here. The train didn’t bother me but it is quite loud when it passes on the other side of the river. The sky was clear and the edge of the field is perfect for stargazing. It’s a great place for a group also if you’re looking for somewhere to be together yet still have some privacy and separation. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The river was beautiful and refreshing to swim in. The sites are all very private with plenty of space!

Directions were clear and our campsite was well maintained with plenty of flat ground for tents plus direct river access. Trains can be loud at night but are infrequent and cool to watch go by. We got unlucky with a thunderstorm right as we arrived but still had a wonderful stay.

Hope it stays open a good long time because it is our new favorite spot! Only down fall in the gnats and flys there were an excessive amount for no reason. Think it was the wet mulch but hey man bug come with camping so not a big deal if just be prepared for them!
We had the absolute best time camping at this campground! We had 4 families, we stayed 2 per site in 3 and 4. They were roomy sites and had a path between the sites. The paths down to the river were nice also! They had clean port a potty’s too! The property was well kept and the campground was quiet, other than the train tracks on both sides.
We absolutely loved this camp site and WILL be back! We stayed in 3 and 4. The sites were roomy, and had nice paths down to the river. The property was maintained well, the only thing we WOULD maybe have liked to seen was a little more clear cut down at the river so you could see more of it from the site, but otherwise you could not ask for a better campsite! Clean porta potty’s too! We definitely will be back!!

Beautiful spot along the James River, campground was spacious and comfortable. Will be returning in the future!
This is a beautiful spot, with nice, private feeling spaces to camp. Wendy is responsive and welcoming.
The supplied wood needs better storage, and gets wet when it rains, so I’d recommend bringing your own firewood and storing it in your car.
The portable toilets were clean, but overwhelmingly pungent.
Beautiful, serene landscape with river front campsites. Each site feels private. We had plenty of space for two small tents. Short walk to portable toilet. Multiple picnic tables provided. Purchased wood on site. Large field for stargazing. Would definitely return to this campsite!! Thank you Wendy!!

Very well maintained and great water access. Fun for groups of people to and have fun.
I’m a new camper, but I can’t imagine anywhere better than this. The sound of the river the campsite was large totally private. Well equipped. Took a bath in the river watch the Hawks fly overhead and the trains at night to me were out of a dream just special. Everything was perfect.

This campsite was so well thought out, separated from other spaces so we felt like we were the only people there and it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay tent camping. Directions were easy to follow, the porta potty was close enough, access to the river was fantastic, and there was even a campfire grate so we could cook over the fire.
My son loved watching the trains go by while we were at this site. I will say if you havent been around trains while tenting, they are loud, even if they don't blow the whistle. Several went by in the night while we were sleeping, so bring earplugs if you're not a heavy sleeper.
Had the absolute best experience. Everything was clean, lots of tables and benches at the site, sites were huge, easy to find, perfect location for paddling, and affordable firewood. We will definitely come back many times. Thanks!

We had such a great time here! The campsite is right on the James River, and you really can’t beat the location. We brought our kayaks and spent some time out on the water, and even jumped in for a swim. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the weekend. The campsite was clean, peaceful, and had everything we needed. We’d definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great riverside camping spot.
We loved tent camping at this picturesque location! I’ve never been to a campground that’s the most bang for your buck. We stayed in site 2 which was a perfect mix of being next to the river and flat land. The sites are nicely spread out, so even with someone nearby we didn’t hear them. The bathroom was right next to the site which made it easy. Trains do come by at night, but we actually enjoyed it. I would definitely come again!
Pretty little spot by the river. Beautiful big open field. Spaces are private and not overcrowded. Excellent location for exploring Natural Bridge. Enjoyed our iced coffee and sandwiches from NattyBs too!

Very hot but the shade and the river was just what we needed. Place is a real treat Time and time again . Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.
Quiet campground and beautifully located right on the river. First come first serve on the 5 sites. We landed site #1 which was probably the worst of the bunch. Lots of trees made for not a lot of airflow for summertime camping. The other sites looked much more clear - will try another site in the future. Definitely planning for a return trip. For those camping with kids - the river current can be deceitfully strong so use caution.

A beautiful piece of land along the river. There’s decent space between campsites so you don’t feel like you’re in a crowded space. Each spot have river access and a gorgeous view of the James River.

We were very happy with this site. It was fairly secluded, quiet, and literally right beside the river. It was a well designed space equipped with a fire pit, picnic tables, and space for tents and parking. I will definitely be coming back! Hopefully when the water levels are a bit higher.
