This place was a hidden gem. Highly recommend. Host, Lindsey was very welcoming and made our stay, although quick, relaxing and enjoyable. We would definitely return to stay again.

Lindsey and her husband were not only welcoming, but they were super nice. Her husband's art studio served as our restroom. Lindsey checked on us the night before we left. Her husband provided us wood. Lindsey also inquired about our comfort in regards to COVID-19. We definitely plan to rebook!

This site is beautiful and private! It’s surrounded by laurel with a fire pit, platform for your tent, and a table. It’s a very well-kept site. The hosts provided firewood and a tripod grate to cook over the fire. The bathroom was very clean and only a short walk away from camp. Both of the hosts were incredibly friendly and responded quickly to all of my messages. We will definitely be staying here again for any future trips to the Floyd area.

This was my second stay here and certainly won’t be my last. Tom and Lindsey are awesome and I don’t think you could expect a better experience than what they offer. I wish I could just buy this spot to have year round 😂
Last time I never left the campsite, but the weather was a bit more iffy this time so I went exploring a bit. About 5 miles down the road is a wonderful organic farm called Riverstone. I highly recommend checking it out. They offer produce, meats, cheeses, snacks, drinks and even books! Sorry, I know this review is for the campsite, but this farm close by is a selling point in my opinion. If you never leave the campsite at all, you won’t be disappointed, but there are a lot of great places to visit in the local community. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Camp was perfect and the Nakiashimas were fantastic hosts! The bathroom on the property Is close to camp and very clean and private. There is a campfire tripod grill which was surprising but Extremely useful! The hosts also provide seasoned firewood. We were able to have a campfire all day which helped keep the bugs away in August. We put a 4 person tent on the platform (next time we will use it as a place for a camp kitchen) and a 1 person tent on the ground. There was still more than enough space for the provided wood table, which we moved to better suit ourselves, 2 fold up tables, 3 coolers and 3 chairs and then everything else you bring camping. The campsite has a beautiful tree canopy that keeps the hot sun off of you and the ground is very nice and soft. Lindsey even asked if we needed anything from the Floyd farmers market Saturday morning! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. There is some noise from cars going by but it’s not bad at all. All 3 of us slept very well. We left a day early just because we are new to camping and just couldn’t do one more night and the hosts refunded a nights stay, which was very unnecessary but extremely kind since we made the decision to leave and it had nothing to do with the site or the hosts. The Nakashimas are so very kind and thoughtful about their space and I would totally recommend this campsite!

“In the sticks” was so much better than I could’ve hoped for. The property was gorgeous, the site was HUGE, the bathroom and shower are perfect, and Lindsey and Tom were exceptionally gracious and kind hosts. I could not recommend this site more. The town of Floyd is so charming and is about a 25 minute beautiful drive away, and Lindsey and Tom had several suggestions of things to do in the area. Do yourself a favor and stay at this incredible site!!!

What an excellent place to stay!!! Looking for a comfy and private campsite with a bathroom and shower? This is the one. There's plenty of space for tents, trees for hammocks, and even a grill to lower over the fire pit. Excellent host and hostess will treat you well. Thank you L & T for a wonderful place to spend my weekend!

This is such a wonderful place! I can't wait to go back again, as this has now become my new favorite place to camp. Spacious, but very private space that even has a nice full bath a very short walk away. I can't say enough about the kindness of the hosts. They gave me a wonderful tour of the property upon arrival and were available for anything I might need. Camping 'In the Sticks' was an all around great experience! Highly recommended!

Cute little campsite in the trees. Was so nice to have a heated bathroom and hit shower. There is a platform for your tent, which was so nice for us because we came when there was snow everywhere!

We stayed here for six nights in mid August and actually spent most of that time at the campsite. Our hosts were awesome. When we got there, they showed us around and Lindsey had information on the surrounding area and Tom was telling us about this place you could pick blackberries just up the road. We ventured out a few times to a nice little hike at the smart view recreation are, it was maybe a 5 min drive, but for the most part we were just happy, and quite comfortable, staying at camp and watching the fire. Lindsey headed out a few times and when she saw us she would ask if we needed anything from the store or in town. We had rain everyday except for the last day. Mostly it rained from mid-late evening all the way into early morning, sometimes continuing until lunch and then scattered showers. Surprisingly enough we never had puddles at camp and not once did we step in any mud. The forest floor remained somewhat damp but given the amount of rain we had, I was amazed that we weren't sloshing mud into the tent. The other thing I was surprised at was that it didn't seem 'buggy'. Again, all that rain and we were NOT constantly swatting gnats and mosquitos! There was a nice wooden platform that you could use as a tent pad. We brought a 10'X20' tarp with us and fashioned a rain shelter/camp kitchen/wood storage area on the platform. There is a nice thick canopy which offered a lot of protection from the elements. Everything that the description says is accurate. The bathroom/shower is very close to camp. A nice thing about the bathroom is that there are some outlets in there so you can charge your devices if you need to. There was a table and I think 5 or 6 stumps. We used the stumps for seating and also step stools to help us hang things up. There is also a wash bucket at the site. This came in handy to rinse our dishes and when we needed to do a quick batch of laundry. Lindsey happened to come by when we had the laundry drying over the campfire and offered to let us hang our clothes on their line by the house if we needed. Again, awesome hosts. We had plenty of wood to keep our fire going. There was a handcart you could use to make taking wood back to camp easier. There was also an axe if you needed to split something. The site itself is nestled in a grove of trees and offers a lot of privacy. Occasionally you could here a car go down the road, but you cant see the road from camp. You could here cows in the distance. Some of the neighbor dogs cam by once but they basically came by sniffed around and left. They were nice, one only had 3 legs. Surprisingly they didn't beg for food or attention just kind of popped over said hi and left. Evening and early morning were chilly. I had a fleece jacket on during that time so if you go, and I recommend you do, definitely remember you're in the mountains and it gets cold, yes even if mid august. I don't know if it was because of the canopy but we were comfortable during the day, not hot/cold or muggy. The campsite is surrounded by woods that provide fairly easy walking. Nice tree coverage but not so thick you have to fight your way through it. There is a trail on the property but we did not do that. There are plenty of places to hang a hammock. Check out some of the photos we took. I believe this site will work for a lot of different people. We didn't want to explore too much and had a good time just at the site. However if you were looking to have the option to explore you have Flyod, Roanoke and Blacksburg (I believe) all within 20-30 mins. You are also about maybe 10 mins from the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are many other hiking trails in the area. The best part about this site are the hosts. We had Lindsey and Tom over for marshmallow roasting the last night and they want to make the site great, we thought it was already, but they want to know what their guests want and they want to try and provide that. We found this to be an amazing site and would definitely be back. Thank you Tom and Lindsey for sharing you site with us we had an amazing time. -Bridgette, Mel &Thor

Lovely tent site in the woods with a canopy of trees overhead. We had shower and bathroom access about a 3 minute walk from the tent and the hosts were wonderful. I highly recommend this gem of a camping sport to anyone traveling the parkway or visiting Floyd.
