Overall we had a good experience. The farm is gorgeous. The animals are the friendliest farm animals I’ve ever encountered. The hosts are welcoming and very kind to let us roam the property. Due to the outhouse condition, I’m not sure we would rent again. It feels like you are going to fall through the floor and the wood under the seat is disgusting. One of the lights is out, as well. A trail with some rock to the outhouse would probably help and outside the bus for when it rains. Also, a hot water teapot boiler would help so the French press could be used for hot coffee.

I stayed at the end of December for one night on my way from upstate NY to FL. It's a beautiful farm and both animals and people are friendly and sweet. The Skoolie lodging is adorable and charming, and very basic. The outhouse might benefit from a little attention and renovation at some point, but it served the purpose and did not smell bad at all. The shower was not in operation while I was there but there is a well pump and the water was good.
I slept like a baby on the nice foam mattress - I brought all my own bedding and it was plenty cozy enough for me, though the night was chilly. There is a heater available though I did not use it. I slept well past day break and had a nice walk about the place and met lots of the sweet animals, and was greeted by Laura who is lovely and friendly and seems to be realizing her dreams through this place. Spectacular views of the landscape, stunning sunset.

I love the old-school bus, and the interior had a gorgeous, vintage style. It was a wonderful romantic trip with my partner. Laura was very communicative throughout the weekend. When I had car troubles, she immediately offered to help. We can’t wait to visit that place again during the warm weather!

We loved our stay! It was great to see so many animals, and our hostess went above and beyond while we were there. our site shared a toilet and shower with another site but we didn’t find it to be inconvenient. Thanks for having us!

Laura was a formidable host and the farm offered great exploration for the little ones. The baby goats were adorable. Only stayed one night but we enjoyed our time at the farm. Excellent spot for animal discovery and pumpkin fun.

The host is very nice. There are a lot of animals at the farm - I recommend it for family trip especially with kids. However, for a one person camper who just wants some quietness, this isn’t the site. The two sites are right next to each other (with trees in between), and my site is almost in front of the host’s house. I can hear the other campers talk very clearly, and there weren’t rules about quiet hours so I stayed up until 2am when they were still talking. The other drawback was that the directions were not really clear. I can’t find written directions or signs on site that tell me where to go so I had to call the host when I arrived. In general, I recommend for families but I do not recommend for quiet/single campers.

We loved camping at Laura's magical farm. This is our second year back and it was just as perfect this year as it was the last time. The site was clean and there was plenty of fire wood for our fire pit. The farm is picturesque. Laura was responsive and great with the kids. We especially loved the baby goats. It was an authentic farm experience, with rustic accommodations and a good time for all.

Several areas could use some cleaning up.
The picnic tables were not cleaned properly, small balloon liter all around the hose from previous water balloons. Sheep fur stuck within the grass under the picnic tables. Outside of bus door was what looked like spilled potting soil or mature!? Granted a hard working farm but skoolie accommodations could use more attention

We had a great time at Laura's! The space was open and there was a huge tree which provided nice shade. Laura provided fire wood for the campfire as well as a grate if we wanted to cook over the fire. We purchased eggs and had those for breakfast and they were delicious!
We took a tour of the farm and even fed the baby goats and calves which were the highlights of the camping trip for our 6yr old. We also made use of the playground which was another highlight for our 6 yr old. Overall, we had a great time at Laura's and the kiddo has already asked when we can go back. Thank you!

Skoolie on the Farm
Laura's farm is wonderful. The animals are fun to watch and the bus was very comfortable. Laura was welcoming and available, but left us alone to do our thing. Before we even left, my 4-year-old son asked to come back, but wants to stay for a week on the next visit.
Highly recommend this experience, especially for young kids.

Had a great time with the little ones at Happy Meadows farm, Laura’s historic hobby farm. Laura and her husband are wonderful hosts. My two year old and her six year old bestie got to collect eggs for breakfast, feed baby goats, and feed baby cows! They played at the playground and in general had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend and we’ll return!

We had an amazing getaway! The bus was perfect and comfy/cozy! Laura was an amazing host. The animals were the very best park. Anyone looking to live the goat or farm animal dream - this is the place for you! I will miss it all. Definitely coming back!

Laura was an exceptional host! Camping at her farm was not only delightful but also a lot of fun. We had the freedom to interact with the animals, which was a real treat. The highlight of our trip was petting and bottle feeding the baby goats and cows. We also met her cats, Bandit and Salem, who are incredibly cuddly and friendly. Salem even welcomed himself into our tent one morning to make some farm fresh biscuits! We highly recommend camping here to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable outdoor experience.

We had a lot of fun playing with all the animals. If you are an animal lover and want to be somewhere where you are really hanging right out with the animals this is your place! Holding, feeding, and playing with the baby goats was the highlight of the trip. If you are looking for a secluded campsite this isn’t the best option. For what we wanted it was perfect.

Being on the farm was so awesome!! Laura and her husband are great.. she answered all of our many questions haha and we super cool. The bus was awesome!! Perfect for us. There was a fire pit and they brought us wood, it was a great night. Don’t forget to check frosty for some really cool finds!!! We’ll definitely be back!!

The skoolie was so cozy and Laura's animals were adorable! Everything you need for easy meal prep at hand and a comfortable bed. We were treated to clear starry skies at night and woke up to the most stunning sunrise. Heads up, the corn fields were low when we were there so it didn't feel as private in the early spring season as others had mentioned.

Our stay on the Historic Hobby Farm was fantastic! From the get-go, we enjoyed an enthusiastic welcome from all the animals on the farm. Even though it got below freezing at night, the heater on the Skoolie provided us with plenty of warmth to sleep throughout the night! The fire at night was perfect with the clear skies and there was plenty of privacy.

The Skoolie is surrounded by beautiful corn fields and animals everywhere!
It’s quiet and a complete respite from town!
Only an hour away from Charlottesville. I’ll definitely be back.
Everything I needed for dry camping was there. The outhouse being nearby is very convenient.
Buckets for washing myself up and for my dishes. A water hose plus an electric chord for plugging in phone etc
Delicious fruit spreads and goat caramel to dip my apples in!!!
This place was a sweet treat and I’ll be sure to give myself another weekend getaway as soon as possible.

This place is so close from DC, about 1.5hrs and worth the small trip to get out and enjoy a working farm. Hostess is so sweet, checked us in and brought fire wood. We had a lot of privacy in the corn field by the pond and walked over in the a.mm to snuggle with pumpkin and met Laura’s little dogs. Many wonderful lil creatures on site , if you’re an animal hugger or lover this is hip hip horray hipcamp!

What an amazing gem! Laura was happy to give us a tour of her property and show us around the farm. She loves all of her animals and you can see it in their loving personalities. The school bus was so cozy and warm. I would definitely love to come back!

Pond In The Cornfield
It was quite literally a perfect farm tent camping experience. The site had everything we need, the animals were fun, and the landscape was gorgeous. The hosts were responsive and even planned a movie night for the campers and others. Would recommend and we will be back!

We had a wonderful time on Laura’s farm! The Skoolie was so cute and clean. My two year old absolutely loved petting all the animals and feeding the baby goat. Laura made us feel very welcomed and even set up a little movie night with some of the goats. Would love to visit again!

The Happy Meadows Hobby Farm is a gem nestled amongst rolling hills and acres of corn! The set up is spacious, comfortable and still private. Laura & Jacob are lovely hosts, the rules for the farm and animal engagement are practical and easy to follow, and fully in the best interest of the animals. We got a huge treat in being able to bottle feed one of the newest goat babies!
