HELLO EVERYONE. Happy Holidays... if you want to stay just send a note, and check....it's wonderful in the Shenandoah valley. We're a Small private location, 3 or 4 sites Near some large campsites in a popular recreation area. We added 2 small ponds, a large garden, flowers, small fruit trees, raspberries, and other native herbs and edibles. and we DO have lots of dragonflies in summer DIRECTIONS.. USE Google GPS. several ways depending on where you are coming from.. Highway exits closest. on 81 exit 213, 217 from those it's about 6 or 7 miles. Route 64. exit 94 / route 340 / Waynesboro... we are 10 miles from that one. We welcome guests to our charming location 1413 Cold Spings Road, Stuarts Draft, VA. Near Waynesboro. if you want to come during off season, contact us, perhaps we can host you. We are in a rural area, near a town, and on a lovely scenic road with no streetlight or stop lights. Near the Blue Ridge hills, Appalachian trail, Sherando Lake, several camp grounds, South River, many streams and some national forest. We once had a large group of permaculture students that was very satisfied. We are developing in 2025 Lots of open here so campfires are ok. We have space for a motorhome to 20 feet, with electric, and space for small RVs, tent, or trailer One place is great for a hammock between trees. If you have a group, room for a dozen small tent sites so contact us. We can work something out. Land is mostly level we are in a lovely recreational area. We're fond of the musically inclined. So bring your instruments. we love nature enthusiasts, homesteaders, bushwhackers, bicyclists, bikers, scooter fans, road trippers...Come practice your camping or homesteading skills. Lot of trails nearby. Plenty of space to run and play. Pets welcome. They do not need to be on a leash, but they could run into the woods. There is a full bathoom in the house available to guests, and an outhouse if needed. private, warm, friendly environment. gas and groceries only a few miles away. well water. Firewood is sometimes available, we are near wooded area. Owner is a Realtor, specializing in rural property.

Privacy, yet convenient.

Paul's place is perfect tent or rv camping if you need no or few amenities. The ground is flat allowing for easy driving access for any size rig. We stayed in the back corner in our Scamp 13 and had plenty of privacy. The location is only minutes from the Food Lion in Stuarts Draft and just a short drive to nearly unlimited amenities in Waynesboro. If you are considering a move to the area, a plus is that Paul is a Realtor with a focus on helping buyers find rural property. He has a real interest in permaculture and small homesteading/hobby farm type properties and he knows the area.

The site was great, late arrival and all we did was pull in and set up. Paul was a great host even if we never actually met him. I would suggest Paul's place!

Host had contacted us through the app to let us know he would not be available the dates of our stay but that his son was on site and would help us hook up to electric and show us where the guest bathroom was. That didn't happen. We parked near the pole barn and after digging around in the pole barn I located an extension cord and the breaker box. After hooking up we were sitting outside when my wife noticed someone on a bicycle riding over to another building across the field. I wrote the host through the app to let him know we had arrived and got settled on our own but would like someone to show us the guest bathroom. We let him know we were going into town for gas and to get something to eat but gave him our phone number where we could be contacted. As we were leaving we saw the bicyclist on the main road who waved at us as we passed. After we got back we saw the bicyclist approaching again and waved him over. It turns out this was the hosts son who described where the guest bath in the house was located. I think had we not waved him over he would not have introduced himself and we never received a reply from the host even as I write this. The property was fine and we had the place to ourselves as the host had told us he had no other campers that weekend. This was our first ever experience with Hip Camp and it was just o.k. nothing special about this experience.

Beautiful

Highly recommend! Paul greeted us warmly upon arrival. He has a large, well maintained piece of land that is beautiful and adjacent to woods. As we were parking our little camper his son came by and gave us fresh peas from his garden. We stayed 2 nights and it was so quiet and peaceful. Paul’s land is flat and easily accessible from a main road. Groceries and fast food are about 10 min away, but it felt like we were further away. We felt safe and had fun relaxing at night after attending a music festival. Thank you for being such a great host, Paul!

Paul was a great host. It started to pour with rain just as I was arriving so he let me ride my motorcycle into his woodworking barn to stay dry. Because the rain was predicted to continue overnight Paul let me set up my tent in the barn. It looks like I picked the right campsite for this particular night on my trip. It all added to the sense of adventure.

Paul is a very gracious host and and stays in contact using Hipcamp text messages. The property is located near the South end of the Shenandoah National Park and is relatively quiet. We would recommend this location.

Private, Kind Host, Lots of Land

Paul was very accommodating; super friendly and flexible, while also being communicative and respectful. Paul had a big open field in the backyard of his property, which was great because I was able to just set up my tent on the sidelines (which on Memorial Day weekend was a godsend since I know it was a madhouse up in Shenandoah National Park) with no disruptions and with ease. There were facilities available on the property, and once again, Paul was so kind and helpful in making my camping stay a nice one. The only thing that I would say (and I don't fault Paul for this at all) is that there were a lot of bugs, which are not my thing (so there was a lot of running to my tent and trying to quickly close it up haha). But if you are fine with insects, this is a great campsite with a tremendous host. Thank you Paul for letting me stay at your property, and for being so understanding!

Paul has a beautiful space- it is large, peaceful, and private! Paul was a very accommodating host, who's passionate about his property. He's 12 minutes down the road from St.Marys National Wilderness park and about 20 minutes from the city making it a prime spot for your camping getaway and your vacation plans.

I really liked how Paul opened up ALL of his land for us to use. He showed us where to pick blackberries and took my girls for a ride on his 4 wheeler (after offering for me to take them on it… when I declined taking it he offered to take them.) He also was more than willing to take pictures of us which is something that’s always hard to do as a solo adult traveler with two little children. We also loved that we were able to see dear and lightning bugs while there. The accommodation are not “amazing” but they’re more than adequate and Paul was a real gem.

Lovely secluded spot. Just need to be careful of what vehicle you have if there’s wet weather. Also this camp is better suited for those who are totally self sufficient with all aspects of camping. Paul is a very friendly host who is open for suggestions.
