Tree house with a view
An amazing getaway, with everything you could need! Even though the host lives on site, did not see or hear from them, unless needed. Great little "glamping" site, with electricity and added bonus of an outhouse, cold shower, and a sink. No fridge, on our visit. Recommend taking your cold shower in the heat of the day, even if you think it'll be warm later! LOL. You can get to the river, but it's a poison ivy/sumac/oak haven, and really no river access, just a rock perch. Really easy access to the trail system, though. Highly recommend, and definitely would go back!

Perfect spot to get away for a few days. Shower and outhouse were appreciated and it’s just a short 1/3 mile walk down to the New River trail.

First time camping with my dog!
I had such a lovely stay!!! The view was absolutely breathtaking. The stars at night are absolutely stunning. The running water was so useful to wash up dishes. The hike down to the river is a good trek but it’s worth the view.

Can't beat that view!
we had a short, but wonderful stay at Pan's camp. It was conveniently located while still feeling very private and remote. You really can't beat the views or the short walk down to the river. The shelter and bathroom were a great plus too! We hope to stay again sometime soon.

River View Camping on the New
Not as expected
The site was not as private or secluded as other reviews suggested. There is a house that can clearly be seen from the shelter, and is close enough we could hear doors being shut in the house. There was also what appeared to be a second campsite very close to the shelter/site, and we could hear the other group talking. This is not how I would define secluded. Also, based on the pictures, we assumed there would be a mini fridge. Obviously things may stop functioning, but given how many pictures featured the mini fridge it may be good to clarify in the posting that it isn’t there. We ended up deciding not to stay because there was a lot of commotion, and it would not have been a relaxing experience for us and our dog (notably, there were also several dogs barking nearby). If you book this, just be aware you will be visible to the house, and not far from other campsites. If other reviews had mentioned any of this we would not have booked.

A Peaceful Place to Connect
Piedmont Forest School staff were so fortunate to be able to come to Camp Pon. Chris and Pon were kind, hard working hosts and the sites were lovely. The new group camping sites, though primitive, were well equipped and beautiful! The view and sound of the river from the camping shelter were wonderful. It was so nice to have running water, power, and light. We plan to come again!
