Discover peaceful seclusion on this 16-acre primitive campsite, perched atop a hill with stunning eastern views. Greet each morning with a breathtaking sunrise and soak in the quiet beauty of nature all around you. Located just yards from the Shenandoah National Park border, this spot offers a true backcountry feel with the convenience of being only 30 minutes by car from the park’s main entrance. It’s perfect for hikers and nature lovers looking to unplug. Cell service is available if needed. Access requires a half-mile uphill hike, adding a sense of adventure and keeping the area serene and private. There is no vehicle access to the campsite, and campers must bring in their own food and water. This is a pack-in, pack-out site with no amenities, ideal for those seeking a raw, off-grid experience. Pets are welcome, but must be kept under control and respectful of wildlife. Campfires are allowed in accordance with local fire regulations. Please check current guidelines before lighting a fire. The site comfortably fits 2–3 small tents (2–3 person tents recommended). Unplug, unwind, and reconnect under the stars just steps from one of Virginia’s most iconic parks

Primitive campsite with a stunning view of Virginia located in the dogwood valley of Shenandoah. Conveniently located 30 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park entrance, this campsite is perfect for those in search of a private place to sleep under the stars and wake up to a sweeping view of the eastern Virginia landscape. This quaint campsite features a flat patch of soil to pitch your tent, a stone fire pit, and a trees to hang your hammock. The campsite is only accessible by an approximately 30-minute uphill hike and is a totally primitive campsite (no running water, electricity, or facilities).

Located next to the boundary of Shenandoah National Park, this rustic cabin offers guests a chance to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature. This one-room cabin features a sleeping area with two twin sized cots, a closet, a kitchen/ dining area, and a loft for additional guests. Outside, guests can take in the surrounding wooded area around while seated around the cozy fire pit. While there is no running water, electricity, or sewage, modifications have been made for comfort of our guests. There is an outhouse conveniently located next to the cabin, a gravity sink, and a cooler. The bookcase is full of books, board games, and puzzles to keep you entertained during your stay. **Dog pictured is not included in your stay Amenities: 1. Two twin sized cots 2. One full size inflatable mattress and pump 3. Dog bed 4. Closet area 5. Dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware 6. Pots, pans, cooking utensils, and cutting board 7. Towels 8. Sink 9. Cooler 10. Lantern 11. Books, games, and puzzles 12. Fire starter paper pieces and lighter 13. Fire extinguisher (for emergencies only) 14. Outhouse Rules: 1. It is highly recommended for guests to bring their own sleeping bags and pillow cases if they plan on using the pillows provided. 2. Please empty any water accumulated in the Lowe’s bucket from the sink. Waste water can be repurposed to put out a fire or to water the potted Cypress trees. 3. Carry out all waste accumulated during your stay. 4. Wash any dishes used (please thoroughly dry the cast iron pans, they will rust if let wet!). 5. Leave any blankets or rags used in a pile on the floor. 6. The trail is off-limits. Please contact host for any questions.

Secluded and just what I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I plan to go back soon. Thank you for sharing your place, Dave! The last stretch to the property is unpaved road, so you’ll need to have AWD or 4WD.

The Summit at Camp Kilo
This spot was lovely. Dave was very responsive and helpful with any questions. The hike in is STEEP and quite slippery in/after the rain. It took us about 20-30 minutes to get to the top. We enjoyed the challenge, but definitely pack light and bring enough food/water/supplies so you don't have to go up and down multiple times. I'd also follow the host's recommendations to drive an off road capable car. We drove a Honda HRV that *barely* made it up the driveway, and wouldn't have made it up at all if it was wet. The spot itself was beautiful, private and clear with a decently level tent pad. There was tons of space to sit around the fire pit, and lots of flat ground to prep food. But the sunrise alone was worth the hike! I wouldn't recommend this spot as a basecamp for a Shenandoah trip due to the intensity of the hike and the risk of getting stuck. We had plans to spend 2 days in SNP, but it rained the first night & morning and we didn't think we could get our car back up the steep driveway, so we ditched our day 2 plans. The only other downside was a group of dogs somewhere down the mountain that barked off and on the whole stay. Definitely ruined the tranquility to some degree. If you're a light sleeper, I recommend bringing ear plugs.

It was lovely - secluded in the perfect way! Only caveat is you'll want to bring a good AWD type vehicle with some decent undercarriage clearance - my Corolla never would've done well going up.

Was an amazing campsite would 100% recommend. Easy to chat with but would recommend having a car good a taking deep bumps and incline but my Honda civic made it up fine as long as you drive the throttle easy. Owners are great people and made our trip easy

What a great place to stay! Cots were great with our sleeping bags. Had a lot of space. Adirondack chairs and a very nice fire pit. I would totally book again when I’m back in the Shenandoah area.

The Cabin at Camp Kilo
A beautiful mountain escape backing right up to Shenandoah National Park. The setting alone makes this place feel special, and the cabin absolutely lives up to it. The drive in is about 15 minutes along a dirt road with a steeper final stretch, but it’s very manageable and worth it for the privacy. You’re also only about 25 minutes from the Swift Run Gap entrance, making park access easy. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The mountain themed decor made it feel warm and inviting, the cots were surprisingly comfortable, and having dog beds already there was a huge bonus. Our dogs loved it. If the upper tent campsite isn’t booked, which you can reserve as well, you might have the opportunity to hike the half mile trail up to it and take in a gorgeous overlook. It’s about a 30 minute uphill hike with roughly 500 feet of elevation gain and well worth it. We stayed during some on and off rain and still had a great trip. Even without a view at the top, it was still a really enjoyable hike. The nearest grocery store is about 25 minutes away in Stanardsville at the Greene Great Valu, which was convenient for anything we needed. Make sure to check out South River Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfall hikes in Shenandoah National Park. Overall, a peaceful and scenic stay. We would definitely come back!

An unbelievable spot. The road that leads to the property is rocky but doable in any car if you take a slow. The driveway up is a different story but Dave planned for this and the alternative only added a bit more steps to the journey. The hike up the mountain is steep with about 500 elevation gain in a little over half a mile. The yellow arrows he added really helped. And the view is unbeatable!

Awesome camp site, you definitely need 4wd, the dirt road to get there is 2 miles long and pretty rocky. The site was amazing though and super quiet and peaceful

Beautiful spot in the mountains with a amazing veiw. The cabin was cozy but big enough not to feel cramped. Plenty of space for activities and a nice fire area. Not too far from Shenandoah National Park.

Amazing little area of land, spending the night there was wonderful! It was great to escape the city and see the stars in the sky for once! The hosts have done a wonderful job making this a little get away on the mountain and I'd love to come back!

The camp was great, it was a good option for someone looking for a cheap shelter. There was no electricity in the cabin, but then again there's no electricity in a tent either. Dave built an amazing trail going up the mountain behind the cabin with an excellent view of the valley.

Absolutely great place to stay. Very quiet and was well worth the price. Definitely need either all wheel drive or four wheel drive to get there but it was an awesome place to stay! Also was super nice having the firewood provided!

We had a great stay! The host Dave was an incredibly fast responder and very helpful! We stayed in the winter so it was quite chilly, just bring lots of blankets! Night one of our arrival it had just snowed, we had a little trouble getting up the hill, luckily we have AWD. I think without snow you could make it up the hill even without AWD. We would certainly stay again or recommend to another!

Very lovely property! The host was very communicative and kind. Just an fyi — 4WD is definitely preferred, our little corolla struggled and wasn’t able to make it all the way up the hill and the road leading to property is unpaved so it’s about 3mi of driving slowly on rough roads.

We had such a great time here. Pay close attention to written directions. It is a pretty steep hike, and easy to get lost going up the hill. Going down it is easier to see the trail markers, Take your time and you will be fine. Very quiet, great views.

The Summit at Camp Kilo
I had a fantastic time camping here! It was exactly as described, with emphasis on remote, quiet, and primitive. The sunrise was beautiful with a nice rock ledge to admire it from. This was exactly what I was looking for to let my dog run free. I would caution campers though that the hike up/down is very challenging and steep, especially slick if it has rained, so be prepared for a tough little climb to reach your secluded site. Thank you Dave for the firewood!
