It all started on a first date in Boston....Nick had to excuse himself to take a phone call. His cow had fled its pasture. Much to Tara's surprise in that moment, this man she had just met was finishing his engineering degree at Northeastern, but was simultaneously building a homestead in Vermont. Fast forward 7 years, and here we are, building the life we only dreamed of. We yearned for simplicity. Deeper connections to our surroundings and mother nature. A calmer sense of place. The satisfaction that comes from growing food. Creating with our hands. We're a working farm and homestead. Every day at Quarry Brook is a new adventure, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re incredibly excited to share our little corner of southern Vermont and what we’re up to with you!

Located off a dirt road, tucked into a corner of our working homestead, you'll find a space to set-up camp and just be. Camp With miles of trails and forest, find the perfect place to put your tent. We have a spot that's been working well for our HipCampers - in the forest (but not too far from your car!) with plenty of privacy, room for a tent, and a small fire pit. Upon request we will provide potable water. This site does not have an outhouse. We ask that all campers follow "Leave No Trace" best practices. Dogs welcome. We expect you'll clean-up after them in a reasonable manner. Please be mindful our chickens are free range. We also ask that you don’t leave them on the site unattended. Trash is carry in/carry out. We also have a geodesic dome site available - complete with queen size bed, linens, cook stove, and composting outhouse. Find us under "Geodesic Dome at Quarry Brook." About Us Our goal is to make the joy of slowing down and connecting accessible to all. Much of our free time is spent with our hands in the dirt. We raise a diverse variety of animals and produce to provide for ourselves and our community. We have a variety of goods available throughout the year - so please let us know if you would be interested in our eggs, garlic, squash, or meats to enjoy here or take home! All of our fur-friends are friendly, sociable, and very loving. What’s Nearby There's a million reasons we've chosen this area to call home. Spend your time just being, or explore the many farms, restaurants, galleries, shops, and activities Southern Vermont has to offer. We’re located 5 miles from downtown Putney where you’ll find Next Stage Arts, Yellow Barn International Music Center, and the Sandglass Theater. We also have a great food co-op, general store, and a few restaurants. If you’re looking for a hike with a great view, it’s absolutely worth checking out Putney Mountain and The Pinnacle. Easily hiked in a couple of hours or less. We’re 17 miles from Brattleboro - where you’ll find a larger variety of restaurants and local shops. We’re also blessed with a year-round farmers market - which is not to be missed! We’re passionate about good quality food and supporting our local farmers and businesses. We would love the opportunity to recommend some of our favorite spots.

We would love the opportunity to recommend some of our favorite spots.   The Dome When you arrive, you'll drive part-way up our forested driveway, and see a sign for the pull-off to park your car. The dome is a short 1/8 mi hike in. Wagon provided so you can carry all your gear in on one trip - and settle right in! The dome is built on top of a platform and fully furnished with a queen size bed and linens. The wood stove will keep you toasty on a chilly Vermont evening. Cozy up next to the fire pit while soaking in the stars. Firewood provided. Cell phone reception is reliable. For a little more light during winter nights, we've added electricity. The private picnic area includes a wash station with basic cooking gear (e.g., propane cooking stove, french press, plates, silverware, pan). We will provide potable water. We have an outhouse with a dry sawdust composting bucket arrangement. Clear instructions will be provided upon your arrival. The dome is insulated, and available for hardy souls looking for winter camping options, snowshoeing, skiing, etc. Trash must be left in designated receptacles. Pet Policy Dogs welcome. We expect you'll clean-up after them in a reasonable manner. Please be mindful our chickens are free range. We also ask that you don’t leave them on the site unattended ***PLEASE NOTE: There will be a fee of $10 for each pet/night. Please select that you are adding an additional person to your booking which will automatically cover this fee.*** Personalizing your Stay Let us arrange for french press and granola service, a dozen farm-fresh eggs, hard cider & artisanal small-batch chocolates, s'mores kits, and more. All local of course! Interaction with Guests  Everything will be set-up for you, but we’re around and always available via cell if you should have any questions.

I recently stayed a few nights at Quarry Brook with my friends, we set up at the tent site. It was a first time camping in the woods for us so it was nice to see that we weren’t too far off from the host’s site, just a brisk 5min hike. The set up went well, though there was a bit of an incline so it took us a bit to figure out where to position the tents. Aside from that, the trip was wonderful. We hiked along the woods towards the watering hole which had an array of accommodations and boats to have fun with. We didn’t have enough people for a good game of volleyball but the court was amazingly setup. All the little critters and wildlife made this all the better. Great stay.

We rented the renting area at Quarry Brook and it was fabulous. The trail down to the spot is short and leads to a nicely secluded spot with a picnic table and plenty of ground to set up even a larger tent. We hiked the trails and counted dozens of Red Efts. Great stay! Would stay again.

The path to the yurt needs to be groomed. Roots and stumps while pulling a dilapidated cart was rough going. The fire pit is basically useless as it is too close to flammable growth

This site is so beautiful! Tara was amazing, and quick at answering questions. We had 7 people and we all fit comfortably! The query was such a blast, and made for all day fun. The instructions to get there were very clear, and the recommendations for things to do were so handy! Plenty of space to set up hammocks, cook a nice meal, and hang out! Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet quick get away, with tons to do!

Loved camping and swimming on this property. Nice large, very private camping spot. The hill between parking and site 1 was a bit challenging for me and my excessive gear, but the assistant and his son helped. In my defense, I am 70 yrs old and would have had an easy time when I was younger. I can't say enough about how incredible the Quarry swimming hole is. Over the top, in "cool factor". I highly recommend this gem.

It's what we expected which is great. Such a cool facility, imported from Poland. Yes, it's aging a bit, so it's not perfect. Neither are we. The hosts took very good care of our needs, even addressing a WiFi concern at 4:30 a.m. The fans help with the heat. The bed is very comfortable, as is the leather chair. Reading the reviews in the books stored in the desk, so many people have enjoyed their time here. A couple of people got engaged here. It's a respite, away from noise. Lots of fireflies. I think the winter, in snow, would be especially nice, though the woodstove will need stoking once during the night;) My wife said, "Everything was what they said it would be" and smiled. You're out in the country; the driveway has potholes. There are bugs. The composting toilet is very well constructed. The Dome was clean. The swim at the quarry was unique and felt great. There are fish and turtles to observe. It's a short drive from the Dome. We traveled to Putney, enjoyed the Diner (opens at 6 a.m.), and enjoyed Hidden Spring Maple and Harlow's (turn left on Route 5). Explored Brattleboro = an interesting town with quite a bit of art available and some good restaurants. Great cinnamon rolls across the street from Diner at the Putney General Store. Ice, sandwiches, and other stuff. Overall, we hope to return. We haven't explored this part of Vermont much though we have lived in the state for most of our lives. We enjoyed supporting HipCamp and our hosts.

Overall I had a nice experience and the site is secluded and private once you get there . Tara was friendly & the family honored the privacy of guests . Cons: The haul from the car to the site was challenging during unloading & loading. Having expected to use my car during camping, this made it very challenging . The trail to the site was not completely obvious needing grooming and removal of debris. A wagon is highly recommended Parked, you are in a cluster of construction material, a hitched SUV, and another site/cabin. Walking past all of this each car trip was not enjoyable and a concern for car tires near the construction material as some of the boards on the ground showed nail holes. Driveway was very rutty, especially after the rains - potholes were deep & full. Smaller cars not advised. Trail to the quarry was not tended. the quarry itself was lovely, but shoreline was littered with neglected boats, knee high grass, & abandoned beachside things. I wish this was a better review but it’s an honest one. I’d guess the care for this property was demoted in priority, as it does w/ a small family. Tara was quick to respond to texts & her husband returned my cooler to the car that I gave up trying to carry mid way since I’d need to return it for night time/bears. I think if a little more attention was given this could be an ideal spot with lovely hosts

We unfortunately had a very disappointing experience that we feel compelled to share. We booked based on the photos and reviews, expecting a relaxing glamping getaway. However, the condition of the site was far from what was portrayed: - The tent had visible mold and dirt, and we found trash behind the bed, which we moved just to avoid the mold. - The steps were unsafe — the last step is broken, and my wife twisted her ankle walking to the bathroom at night. - There was animal feces on the top step entering the tent. - The entire site was overgrown — including the picnic table, which was unusable, and the fire pit area, where ticks dropped onto us from the surrounding brush. - The skylight was patched with duct tape, so we couldn’t see the stars — one of the key reasons we booked this site. - The kitchen gear was dirty, and the entry path was a muddy mess, with the side trail nearly impassable. - The furniture inside was damaged, and a few of our personal items even broke when it collapsed. We understand camping comes with a level of ruggedness, but at $250 for one night and with the site advertised as a more polished “glamping” experience, this felt extremely misleading. I reached out to see if they were open to discussing that this experience did not reflect the listing or justify the cost. We did not receive any response.

We had a great time at the dome. It was easy to access nearby trails and the town of Putney was fun. The site itself was comfortable, clean, and very relaxing. Plenty of necessities provided along with helpful small touches like the wagon to get your items to and from your car. Would definitely stay again.

Had a great time! Didn’t even realize they had an outhouse for the tent site when I booked it - and that made our experience way more comfortable. Felt very private from any other site, and is a beautiful place with nice fire cooking gear (grill to put over flames, nice non stick pan for searing). Nick was very nice!

The dome was the perfect relaxing getaway we needed. The land & quarry were a treat for us & our pup to enjoy… we really enjoyed the privacy of the dome, enjoyed our evenings by the fire pit, & even with a rainy night, the wood stove & cozy dome made for a wonderful way to enjoy. Great spot! Dome is spacious and comfortable. Cleanest outhouse I've ever seen. Site is private and only about a one minute walk from where you park. Host provides big wagon to haul your gear in and out. The quarry/swimming area is by far the best part of this property! Absolutely gorgeous little spot. Clean water and super easy to access. Highly recommend this spot

Loved camping here, felt secluded and scenic. Campsite was well cleared out with a functional fire pit and picnic table. A little over a half mile hike to the quarry which was very fun.

We loved the land and location of this spot. Beautiful vegetation and nearby attractions. We felt very safe and comfortable on this property. Well maintained and taken care of. Adored the Guinea pigs on the land as well! Thank you!

We had a great time camping at quarry brook. We stayed 2 nights on the tent site. The site was secluded and the Hosts were super accommodating when we needed water and firewood. We packed a little heavy but they provided us with a wagon to get our heavy cooler down to the site. East putney falls was about a 10 minute drive and an awesome little swimming hole. Perfect spot to getaway for a weekend.

Beautiful, peaceful spot only about a half mile hike to the quarry for swimming. Overall the area was perfectly shaded and secluded, the only thing we heard was the occasional dog barking. Potable water and firewood were provided when I got there which was really nice. Definitely will plan another stay in the future.

Really awesome private campsite tucked away from the rest of the property. Very simple, easygoing check in and we greatly appreciated there being firewood and a large container of water at the site when we arrived. Perfect, simple campsite, would recommend.
