I wanted to like this place, it was a nice and convenient setting but a few things made my stay really uncomfortable. I don't like leaving reviews, I tried to take this up privately with HC, but they told me to review....
- the incinerator toilet was full when I got there. The outhouse was full of a white mold. No TP left. Dirty and smelly.
- Half the platform is rotted. It was then covered by OSB/particle board that is also rotting. This is clearly someone who doesn't care to properly maintain their spot, OSB/particle board is not weather proof, it's making the whole platform falling apart factor way worse.
- The host had a boat parked in the driveway so we couldn't find the spot. We had to drive up onto the grass and around to get there. It seemed like they didn't even know we were coming. Signage is a joke, its tiny laser etched wood that is completely weathered away.
Overall, this spot is not what is pictured, stay at your own risk. Host doesn't really care for the property, or the safety of guests who stay there. For the same price I would have much rather stayed at a campground or state park. Definitely remembering this experience if I book a HC spot again. I stayed at some great HC's, though this isn't my first questionable experience, but by far my worst.

Comfortable and cozy. Located down a big hill from the road, I thoroughly enjoyed the Sugarwood Cabin. The cabin has electricity and a toilet. It’s got a mattress in a loft. Very comfortable, and offered ample shelter from torrential rain. The path through the woods to the cabin can be a bit buggy, but windows inside the cabin are screened. I would recommend to anyone looking for cozy, rustic accommodations.

This site is everything it claims to be. You’re sleeping on a platform above a stream, just down the hill from your car. I didn’t have an issue with road noise, even in the fall when the leaves were down. With that said, camping on the platform was cold as it got rainy and windy in October, so be prepared for the weather. I think I’d come back in the summer or early fall. It was really nice to have a toilet to use, but make sure you read up on the instructions. Also, bring extra toilet paper as an animal had destroyed what was in there. Otherwise, we had no issues! The driveway to get from the road to the parking area was easily navigated with 4 wheel drive but I think it might have been hard with my old FWD car, just FYI.

It is very secluded and peacefull. We went in the fall season and the colors were wonderfull. Also the toilet was really nice and had lights wich was pretty toughtfull.

We had an amazing fall weekend getaway at Maggie’s cabin! The wood stove kept the cabin nice and cozy, and the fridge was an unexpected bonus. We would absolutely stay here again!

Pros: super cute cabin, comfy and warmed up with the stove, outdoor area is very nice, great location, host approved our last minute booking in 5 minutes.
Cons: the cabin needed a good sweep, dead bugs and mice drops everywhere (which are a health hazard according to the cdc :/) Toilets were not flushed and gross when we arrived. We then realized the incinerator was not working and it started leaking. Gas stove wasn't working either.
The smoke/co detector was dead. Another health hazard, especially with the wood stove heating the cabin... everything should be an easy fix though.
We still had a good night sleep and for their defense we arriver 10 minutes after booking, so its not like they had time to prep anything.

We loved tent camping on this beautiful woodland platform. Great view of the dry creek (summer) and ferns galore.
There is an incinerating toilet which we didn’t use, power and a fire pit with comfy chairs. Byo-firewood. Two bars on att.
100% safe and peaceful, from a girl that listens to way to much true crime.

My husband and I stayed for a night and really enjoyed the cozy little cabin. It was clean and comfortable with everything you would need. We unfortunately weren’t able to use the outdoor fireplace because it was raining but the wood stove kept the entire place exceptionally warm especially up in the loft!

Maggie's cabin was a welcome return to nature, very beautiful, and well appointed with most everything we needed. Felt remote, but actually isn't. You're a few hundred yards away from homes. The build is beautiful and the furniture was all comfy. One problem that could be fixed was the wood stove leaked smoke. Could be fixed with a servicing, but on our first night in late November, we had to open the windows due to the dangerous amount of smoke. There's at least one mouse that got into our food. There were just a few things like unplugged holes in the walls, a broken lamp shade, and burned out light bulbs that made us think there wasn't a whole lot of attention paid to the cabin. These really quick fixes would make it an absolute 5 star glamp. Maggie was very available to us via text even during our holiday check in day. It's truly so beautiful, and if the stove in serviced, we would love to return.

This was our second time staying at Sugarwood and we absolutely adore it!
The hosts have made sure many amenities are in place for people who aren't used to "roughing it" such as installing a new Incinolet toilet, adding a vacuum and putting a garbage can behind the house for you to store your garbage (its carry in-carry out btw).
The outdoor fireplace takes regular sized logs and the woodstove inside uses smaller logs (theres an ax with 2 splitters by the front door).
There's plenty of books to read while you enjoy the quiet and solitude among the trees.
The hosts are quick to reply to any questions you may have and are absolutely lovely people.

Very cute little cabin! Love their set up. Had a bit of a mosquito/mouse issue, but that’s what you get in a cabin sometimes! Oven was awesome, heated the place up very well.

Hemlock Perch Camp
We absolutely loved our stay at the perch! It’s right off a neighborhood road but secluded. We only stayed one night because it was our dog’s first time camping so we wanted to take it easy. The platform was super cute (though if you have little ones / dogs just be aware of the ledge) and the convenience of the out house was ideal. Bring your own firewood & toilet tissue. We’d love to come back and would recommend for a friend!

We had an amazing time at the Sugarwood Cabin! The foliage directly around the cabin was so beautiful. The location is private and set away from the road, but it is so easy to get to Route 4 and the Interstate. The wood stove was easy to use and kept the cabin toasty. The cabin was very clean and well organized. We also loved the hammock and outdoor fireplace. We will certainly be back!

Don’t get me wrong the cabin is adorable. But bring the hazmat suit and cleaning supplies! I can’t truly stay what it is like to stay in the cabin or anywhere on the property for that matter. I wouldn’t stay here if it was free let alone the almost 200 dollars for two days. I immediately reached out upon arrival hoping to discuss the conditions. Here it is two weeks later several attempts to contact and I still have yet to hear from the host. The cabin was covered in a layer of dust, dirt, dead bugs and grime not to mention an obscene amount of rodent feces. There is a composting toilet swirled in human fecal matter adjacent to a very cute but neglected and dirty kitchenette. This little place has so much potential but is just putrid on a cleanliness scale. Not only is the place filthy using any standards but especially during a pandemic it’s simply a health hazard! Lucky for us Vermont is filled with adorable and clean places to stay including campsites. That’s right just being out in the woods is drastically cleaner than being in this adorable little cabin.

A beautiful space with the comforts of a living room outdoors. The platform is basically a bridge over a creek. There’s an outdoor shower (not on), outlet, outhouse and fire pit. Very magical spot to play :)

Beautifully decorated and super cozy cabin with thoughtful touches throughout located close to I-89.
Gorgeous stone fireplace to relax by and a surprise pull out sofa bed in case you are too tall (like me!) to fit upstairs. There is an adorable chipmunk colony who will keep you company while you snooze in the hammock.
A perfect place to forget about life for a minute!

Great spot, but the platform has rotten boards. I only weigh 160 pounds, but one of the boards snapped, causing me to fall through, injuring my leg and my wrists.
