I tried to come up with something negative to say about this spot, to deter others from this magical place. I couldn’t come up with one thing. Everything was absolutely perfect.

Best Camping experience ever! The site is roomier than expected, and thoughtfully equipped with the basics. Having the lean to spaces for sleeping and to keep things dry for the occasional rain shower is so nice. The lake is peaceful and gorgeous. Looking forward to coming here again and again!

It is a well worth hike/walk in. Some elevation up and down. The lean-to's are nice size. One with two floors. Very comfy. Tim has thought about everything and more for remote camping.

Beautiful, Serene, Well Thought-out
Like others, my wife and I joked about giving a low rating only because it's so perfect- we figure this will eventually become an impossible booking and it's honestly fine with us. Between the .8 miles (a perfect distance for a practice backpacking trip), beautifully built shelters, availability of firewood (you can pay by cash, or Venmo), the flat area in the grass that is perfect for tents, the canoes, picnic table and having a private dock that is perfect for swimming, we loved it. Tim must be doing this as an act of kindness. It's a steal and a wonderful retreat that is sure to leave you happy.

It was a lovely and gorgeous place to camp. My friend and I were stunned by the lake view (my puppy also enjoyed the time there). The shelter was very helpful as it was rainy very hard throughout the night. Bathroom was clean and there are another big shelter that can accommodate + 6 peoples. You can borrow kayaking equipments but we didn’t try due to the bad weather. One thing we wish it were different was the instruction at the gate. We couldn’t find arrow signs until we entered the path and walked for a few minutes. We were initially confused but eventually figured out the correct path. If you don’t mind walking for 20 minutes, we highly recommend this campsite!

By far, one of the best hip camps we've stayed at! Beautiful private shelter right by the water, with everything you need for comfortable outdoor experience. Highly recommend!

This was our second year camping at Tim’s site and it won’t be our last! This site is perfect with a private dock, fire pit, picnic table, and multiple canoes. There are two structures to sleep under but we prefer to tent. The structures are a plus though to keep your bags and food instead of on the ground. My Labrador Retriever absolutely loved this property to run around on and go swimming. It would help to bring a cart with you to get your things in on the 20 minute hike! Great place to camp, highly recommended.

Lakeside Getaway w/campfire & canoe
Shelter in the Woods is a delightful little (actually extremely large) campsite situated beautifully on the water’s edge of a very clean and picturesque lake. Facilities are quite simple however exactly what is needed to enjoy your stay. Two shelters were surprisingly much better and bigger than expected. We met Tim who was stacking firewood as we arrived. Very nice host with a very nice spot for us Hipcampers!

Tim's camp is absolutely beautiful, I can't wait until next time! Word to the wise, the site is much more peaceful mid-week when there are fewer motor boats on the lake. The golden hour when the loons are calling is magical.

Second time camping here and just as great as the first! Tim has a great piece of land and clearly dose a great job maintaining the property. Very well kept and very clean outhouse. One of the bests spots on the lake!

Secrete Garden
It is more magical than what I imagined. If each forest has a smell this is the best smelling trail to hike in. The 20 min is dead accurate and it's a leisure hike in if you are not carrying like a tons of stuffs with many gentle ups and downs. We tried to pack light for this trip based on other's review but definitely still challenging to pick and choose. The site is situated so nicely with many options to set up tent. The lean on shelter is neat when the weather is unpredictable. Can't really describe the beauty of this place but you just have to come see for yourself. So peaceful so tranquil and super appreciated Tim and his family preserved and guarded this secret garden and willing to share with us.

Tim’s place was absolutely gorgeous! Plenty spacious enough for 2 tents, 2 shelters in case of rain, beautiful fire pit (with lots of fire wood), access to canoes for a paddle around the lake, and docks for sitting out on and for jumping off into the clean water!

Best Site Ever!
This was my second time visiting Tim's campsite and we had an absolute blast. It is the perfect campsite, the fire pit, the private dock, the little shelter, are all incredible details that make the site so special. We got to take a canoe out for a spin this time too! The pit toilet is an absolute dream too, brand new and SO clean! Can't wait until next year!

Nature lovers dream
I spent my birthday weekend here and it was every bit as amazing as I hoped it would be. The lake is gorgeous and peaceful. I saw loons for the first time and heard their beautifully haunting calls. Also a bald eagle.
I really appreciated the shelters. It was just the two of us so we stayed in these smaller shelter close to the water and set our 7x8 tent up inside with enough room to still use the table and benches provided. We really appreciate it the first night when there was a thunderstorm and we stayed cozy and dry. All the hooks on the walls gave us plenty of places to hang things and stay organized.
The lake water was a great temperature for swimming and beautifully clear. We purified it with a Sawyer Mini 0.1 micron water filter for drinking and it tasted great. We made use of the canoes and took a nice paddle.
Plenty of firewood was provided with donations via Venmo encouraged.
Nothing but positive things to say and I definitely plan on visiting again!

Great!
Tim was doing an 11 on our host scale, friendly and as helpful as he could be. The camp site is spectacular, on a pristine Vermont lake with lots of friendly boaters and kayakers passing by his 1000' frontage, situated on a nearly 100 acre forest preserve. Canoes, paddles and life preservers are provided on site, and two ultra clean (large and huge) lean to's and the most pleasant outhouse (low usage) we've ever been in. Higly recommended, we'll be coming back many times with friends!

Awesome spot. PACK SUPER LIGHT (two backpacks per person). Due to the weather, sometimes the available fire wood does not stay super dry and the trail is wet and muddy. If taking a bike or wagon, fat tires are a game changer. Keep food secure at night.

Tim’s place on Lake Raponda was awesome! We definitely learned that packing light is a must, bringing a cart up the hill on the way in was tough! We will definitely be back, with much less stuff next time! There is a picnic table and chairs for you, bringing them is unnecessary!

Perfect!
While we did stay during a few rainy storms, the site was still perfect. My favorite place to camp, by far. The hike in was worth it. We saw a loon, heard lots of frogs, and the water temperature was refreshing. My family and I didn’t want to leave. Our host made sure there were plenty of logs for a fire, toilet paper, canoes and life vests to use, and more! Highly recommend!

Great getaway!
This is a great camping spot! The photos really don't do it justice - it's much bigger and more beautiful in person. The upper camp is HUGE, could easily fit a large family in bad weather, but thankfully we were able to pitch tents and sleep on the soft ground. The canoes and dock were an amazing amenity.

This spot was absolutely magical. Not a lot of flat space for a tent but 2 shelters and the possibility of putting your tent right on the dock! Gorgeous lake too.
