Lovely Host and Scenery

Site 2 - Brookside RV Camping
The host was very kind and welcoming, and the river itself was absolutely beautiful. However, I did feel the photos were a little confusing. The riverside spot shown with the RV and white camper is actually the host’s home, which I didn’t realize when booking. I had expected that to be the camping area, so it caught me off guard when we arrived.
The setup across the street had more of a lived-in feel than we anticipated, and with the fire ban in place, we decided to move on to another site that better suited our group’s needs.
That said, the host was friendly and helpful throughout, and I think updating the listing description to clarify which area is available for guests would make it easier for future campers to know exactly what to expect.

Such a great location. Exactly what I needed for one night in the area. Loved the seclusion of site 2 and the proximity of the river. It's right off the road and easy to find making pulling in right after sunset easier.

What an incredible spot!!! The host was so sweet and came over to ensure we had everything we needed. Such a relaxing spot by the river. We had the whole place to ourselves. Truly, this was such an unexpected surprise and I would absolutely stay here again. It was so nice to hear the sounds of nature. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Holly was wonderful and the price was great. The site is very easy to get into and out of. Power was easily accessible. Views and privacy were limited but access to the river is wonderful. Overall it is a great option if you have your own water.

Great spot when visiting Montpelier

This is a wonderful spot when visiting the area. Just 10 minutes from downtown Montpelier, it's surrounded by trees and a big grassy area that slopes down to the river. The camp spots are level, and the electric hookup is strong and solid. The hosts are very friendly and communicate quickly.

Had a great time! Exactly what we needed for our one night adventure. Rode bikes into Montpelier, a very easy 6 mile ride on a brand new paved road in. Had a nice campfire at night and left in the morning (: Holly is so sweet and has a great view of the river. Loved her dog as well!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Dog River Run, the site was exactly what we were looking for! The location is perfect, not to far from town and the scenery this time of year is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the little bit of seclusion at site 2, as well as our walks down by the river rock hunting. The campsite isn't far from the road and is easy to access from a paved roads, but we did not consider traffic to be heavy or even noticable. There is a train that runs close by, but that was actually something we looked forward to each day after reading other reviews. We had enough extension cords to run from the electrical outlet to the site but do plan on the recommended 150' if you want to park further back for seclusion. Holly was a very welcoming host and we would definitely stay there again!

Easy access, right off paved road

Holly is warm, welcoming and helpful! We had the more “open field” site #1 (closest to electrical hook up), which was great for us. Being open makes it easy for any type of RV to get positioned quickly and easily. The other site is long and narrow, trees/shrubs on both sides, a bit lower ground level and tucked in with more privacy.
We traveled in a pop up, so the open field area site #1 was perfect for us. There is a gentle grassy, open field slope besides this area - which provided a great safe morning “zoomie-run” area for our two mini Australian Shepherds. The sound of the brook (on one side of the property) was soothing & relaxing. The property is near a train crossing, so there is a late night cargo train that passes… but it is very brief (maybe 2-3 minutes total) , but we don’t mind the sound of passing trains at all! This location is not far from Montpelier, and close access to RT 89. We had a great experience here!

Holly did a great job helping us get settled in for our two night stay. She was making a run to the grocery store and asked if we needed anything. So thoughtful. She gave us some good suggestions for sightseeing in the area as well. Central location for Montpelier, Stowe, Waterbury, and even Burlington is within an hour’s drive.

Holly and her husband were so welcoming and accommodating. There is a creek that flows to the river on the side of the property. The soft sounds of the creek, along with the view of the mountains and proximity to Montpellier make this a great spot. Bonus points for being near several covered bridges.

Neat and nice, quiet, basic campsite next to a small stream perfect for kids to play in. Holly is really nice and friendly, too.
Perfect place to spend a night or two on your way to/from Montreal etc. Really close to Ben&Jerry's factory in Waterbury, VT. Directions were clear, getting in contact with Holly clear, fast and easy!

Nice, fairly primitive camp spot and very nice hosts. We were here just after the rains and had no problem with the grassy spot. Do not let gps take you on Crosstown Rd! Low clearance underpass, steep, winding gravel road with big washouts!!!

this is great for HIGH GROUND! and quick in and out camping. we got there in a down pour and we’re so thankful for high ground because it rained so hard the roads all over the area were washed out. The little babbling brook turned into a small rushing river by morning. This place is nothing super special but perfect for an inexpensive quick and easy stay that has a cute river to get your feet wet.

Holly was very friendly and let us stay last minute. There were 2 110v plug ins and a 4 prong 50 amp. We didn’t need water so I can’t recall if it was available. The view was great - the spots are on a hill and Hollys place is down further so it was secluded. Her neighbor has some dogs that barked when we first arrived but did not bother us at all and we got to meet one which was friendly despite its size (Newfoundland). There’s a stream/river that holly said our dogs could swim in but we were in late and out early so no time this time. Would definitely stay again!! Such a nice view - wish I could include the photos I took.

Great flat site with electric for our RV (needed ~100’ cord to reach outlet in order to stay on level ground). Holly is wonderful with directions and even came out with a headlight to help us know where to turn into the site in the dark! Thanks Holly!
