This Outpost and campground is located on 100 acres of private property surrounded by park and public land. It has been here for over 30 years in some form or another. We are Caleb & Amber who enjoyed managing this little oasis in the middle of the desert from March to June of 2017 when we decided to purchase the business & make it our own. This is a dry, rugged campground with a bathhouse that provides coin operated showers and flush toilets. In addition there is little old rustic camp store placed in the middle of nowhere where we provide fuel, snacks, firewood, ice, showers, cold drinks & more. If you are looking for a more private site with lots of space and shade, book our Small Group at the Rocks. For a warmer stay during the cooler months book one of our Glamping Tents listed. We have the larger, and spacious tent in the grove of the Juniper Trees (which is also amazing in the warmer season) and rent a heater from us inside the general/camp store. BE SURE TO GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO CHECK IN NO LATER THAN 5PM. THANK YOU!! DON'T FORGET TO TAKE A SCREEN SHOT OF THE DIRECTIONS HERE, YOU WILL LOSE SERVICE ON YOUR WAY.

Desert Sanctuary
The Needles is a decent campsite. It has the perfect desert vibe. My review is based from my experience of my fair share of camping - from glamping all the way to boondocking. I would say if you are new to camping, this place might make you uncomfortable but it is definitely the true camping experience. I've read previous reviews that the bathrooms are dirty, but its camping and I saw that the hosts maintain it pretty frequently so I believe stuff like that is subjective based on how much you camp. They had showers and running water, which is always better than campsites that have none at all. Pros: Beautiful view of sunrise & sunset. they have showers that you can buy tokens for (which is always a plus in my book). You can choose your own campsite as soon as you arrive. Very close to the Needles District in canyonlands. You can purchase firewood from the store. Cons: This location is too far if you are planning to visit Arches NP & Island in the Sky (about 1-2 hours away). If you dont arrive early enough, you wont get a campsite with shade as it is very sparse (esp during summer). Overall, I liked this site because it was comfortable and beautiful. However, I would not stay here again because the site is too far from the NPs we wanted to visit. If you want to just stay and get away from it all, this is a good secluded place.

Amber was a lovely host. Be prepared for red dirt! The campground has the most beautiful view and the best dark skies. First time I've seen the Milky Way in a long time. Bring your binocs and star chart. It was beautiful!

The tree house tent site was great. Very quiet and great views. The whole campground is quirky and cool. I can’t wait to see the continued improvements to the property.

Beautiful Views Need To Bring Shade
My partner and I loved camping at Needles Outpost. We ended up switching to the campsite right next to the teepee and sleeping in our tent because the next site has trees for shade, there is no shade near the teepee. Recommend bringing a canopy if you are staying at the teepee during warm months. The views/ hiking/ drives/ sunsets in the area are absolutely breathtaking and feel like prehistoric times.

Place is Amazing / Facility are bad
The facilities need a renovation! The facilities showers / toilets are in poor condition. 3 off 4 shower didnt work... (And you have to pay for the showers..) We were there for 3 days, the toilets were cleaned only once. (Had no more toilet paper and the trash (bin) was overflowing!). Nevertheless, very nice remote place and close to the national park!

Perfection!
Absolutely beautiful spot! The hillside and trees provide just enough shade and shelter from sun and wind. The bathhouse was clean and the store has everything you might have forgotten to pack.. The location is ideal for exploring the Needles District.

Incredible Views and Friendly Hosts
Amber and her husband are super friendly and very helpful. The site itself was nice and at a great location if you want to go to Canyon Lands and see the Needles. Follow Amber's instructions since you really don't have any cell signal once you get close to there - I think it was a 35 minute drive for me to find a signal to finish some work. Make the time to stop at Newspaper Rock - if Amber hadn't mentioned it on the directions I would have just passed right by. An added perk to coming to this site for me :) Everything was super clean and very peaceful there. My daughter and I were able to drive through the side of Canyonlands after setting up camp and watching the sunset along the way which gave us a lot more time the next day to finish exploring the other side of Canyonlands. I'll definitely come back and suggest others to camp here.

Great camp spot, especially for mul
The ease of reserving a space via Hipcamp is great. View of Needles Outpost was friendly. Felt safe. Right at the entrance of Needles entrance of NP. Shower was warm, $3 for 5 minutes. Beautiful location. It’s stated that they are strict on quiet hour starting at 9pm, but it wasn’t enforced. The group next to me was loud until midnight. While in the park, I realized that I wouldn’t be able to get in for an early morning hike before having to leave. Other than those two things, I’d stay again if I were planning on sleeping in or lounging around in the morning.

Overall, this property was very disappointing. The campsites were too close together & there was deep sand that was so fine it felt more like powder, & it covered everything we brought. The red sand/powder even blew into our tent during the days & nights, despite zippers secured & the rain fly installed. We were most upset about the terrible bathroom situation & how dirty & old they were. One of the two toilets & sinks were out of order & only one shower worked, but it had toilet plumbing left inside of it~ absolutely disgusting. There were four small trash cans for the entire campground & they were a mess & always full. And lastly, there was nowhere to wash our dishes except for these terribly small & dirty bathrooms. We drove three hours, round trip, to Moab every night while we were there.

Beautiful place to camp!
We LOVED staying at the needles outpost. It's essentially right in the needles district of canyonlands, and is one of the most scenic hipcamps I've stayed at. We liked our tipi and it was well maintained with a carpet and tarp covering the soft sand inside. Sites were large (though fairly open so not super private) and it felt really safe. The store has firewood and a good amount of snacks/soups etc, and it's the only place around. We will absolutely be back. Staff and communication were easy and firendly!

Everything was great. Campsite number 4 was our spot and we loved it out of all the choices. The views were amazing and probably better than camping actually in the park. Mos def will be back again.

Fun time!
The teepee was such a fun experience. It did rain pretty hard, and our bedding got damp, so beware, and perhaps don't unroll your bedding until you are ready to lay down for the evening. Placing it under the cots could be a good idea. It was a beautiful site with a picnic table that we used for our meals and a fire pit that made a great evening fire.

My husband and I had great time in the place. We really appreciate Amber and her husband's hospitality. They let us use their own tent. It's nice and comfortable. The campsite is so close to the visit center and hiking trails. The best thing is that the campsite provide showers. We definitely will recommend the place to our friends.

BEST CAMPING NEAR MOAB
Staying here was our favorite part of our entire trip, which says a lot considering we drove over 3000 miles. Amber is extremely welcoming, and has created such a neat and peaceful environment. Amazing communication, very easy directions, and clean spaces (including the shower, bathrooms, and store). If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be staying here - and for more than one night this time! Thank you so much Amber!

Great stay
Review is for the glamping tent, which Amber was kind enough to move me to due to some scheduling issues. It was amazing. I feel like everyone should stay at Needlea Outpost at least once. The tent itself is really nicely set up, the store has supplies, and there are showers. All you need.

Great option for camping
I loved my 3 nights at the Needles Outpost. It was so close to the Needles park entrance and the campsites were great. Many of them are up close to the rocks, facing west which makes it perfect for winding down and watching the sunset. Amber and her husband were so nice and accommodating, and they had a great camp store with various items to purchase or rent. I will definitely come back here whenever I am going to Canyonlands next or wanting a great camping experience in the area.

Great trip at Needles Outpost
We had a great time at the Needles Outpost! Tipi 2 site was excellent and the tipi did the job, giving us a place to escape when winds picked up. Scaling up the rocks behind the sites was also a blast. Super fast access to Canyonlands. Hosts were kind and helpful.

Amber’s awesome campsites
Needles Outpost is a great option if you can’t get into the park. The campsites are reasonable spaced and if you get there early you can get close to the red rock. Views into the park are distant but the sunset was awesome.

Eh.
This site was Ok. Before arriving, we were messaged multiple times to MAKE SURE WE ARE THERE BEFORE 5pm to check in. This is somewhat inconvenient, and a little early. We paid for the campground ahead of time, so what is the urgency to be there so early. This was a point of stress to me to make sure we rushed through our day on our road trip to be there by 5pm. The owner seemed to bave an attitude as soon as we arrived. The owner chastised us for wanting to take two showers. After 4 days on the road camping with no shower, it was literally the most important reason we booked this location, (for the shower…) and then one of the showers was broken and not really in great shape to begin with. The owner also loudly exclaimed that “I’m not sexist, but you guys ARE MEN, so DONT GO FASTER THAN 5mph!” And then screamed at someone going maybe 7mph as we were leaving the store. We were a group of 5 with 5 small backpacking tents. We have taken trips all over and never had an issue fitting all our tiny tents in one campspot, ever. The owner made a big deal about how 5 tents were not allowed, and she had to assign us the only spot that would fit all of us… the spot we got was absolutely the worst spot on the property. It was basically a dirt parking lot with room to park about three RVs. Our tents were pummeled with dust with no shade or cover. Overall, we got showers but It was my least favorite campsite on our whole road trip. I only recommene for proximity to the NP.
