Beware of Misinformation from Host!

I booked this site on 9/25 for 9/26-9/28. Jocilyn was quick to respond and approve the trip. She then let me know she’d send me an email with the directions and additional information.
I did not receive the email until the next morning when we were getting ready to leave. To my dismay, there was information in the email that contradicted what her posting said. Biggest being in bold, red letters saying that no campfires were allowed. I’m not going camping without a campfire. I specifically searched sites that showed they allowed campfires. This was frustrating since we were leaving. So I booked another site that said they allowed campfires and we went there instead. I messaged Jocilyn to cancel due to the information in the email. She then messaged me back a couple of hours later saying that her email was incorrect 🙄
She now refuses to refund my $127 even though I only cancelled because of bad information she provided. She says that she had other people wanting to book that weekend but couldn’t. I didn’t book until the evening of 9/25 and cancelled the morning of 9/26…highly doubt she had other renters and was unable to open it back up for them.

Despite the perfect directions, it was a little further out than we had originally thought. That being said, I’m so glad that it was! Light pollution was minimal! It was exactly what we were looking for on our one day venture into Utah from Idaho. Gorgeous surroundings. Rad moonrise that lit up the landscape and also beautiful sunrise the following morning. Listening to wildlife move about in the night was probably my favorite part. Jocilyn was very communicative and we had a great time! Would have loved to stay longer.

I had a fantastic stay at this campsite! It was secluded and peaceful, providing a great sense of privacy even with another site nearby. The site was much cleaner than many comparable public sites, which was a pleasant surprise. Despite limited shade, the weather stayed cool, making for a comfortable experience. The road leading to the site is a bit rough, so I'd recommend having a 4x4 or AWD vehicle for the journey. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and straightforward, though it does require driving through Huntsville, Utah. Overall, a great spot for a peaceful getaway—highly recommend!

Booked very last minute and was worried we wouldn’t get a confirmation in time but Jocilyn got back to us in less than 5 minutes. Enjoyed our time there, very peaceful place especially the mornings and evenings.

Nothing better than rolling up to a private campsite , no need to jostle for a spot – with acres and acres of no one else around you. Jocilyn was so helpful – even let us add an extra day cause we were having such a good time.

Had a great time on this beautiful land! As long as no one is in the yurt that’s above the campsite it’s very private. I do wish the yurt was located further away from the campsite to create more privacy. The host was wonderful to work with and we had so much fun!

If you’re looking for remote, then this is the place for sure. You’re remote but still in an area well traveled by hunters and ATV/UTV motor sports nearby.
We are new to Utah and weren’t expecting everything to be brown and crispy, unlike the pictures shown with everything so green and beautiful. My husband was in his element after growing up camping in the desert. Definitely a different kind of beauty in October!
The site itself was mostly cleared, but I think it’s been a resting spot for livestock, as there was a lot of animal pellets everywhere. It didn’t really bother us, but just something to be aware of. We brought a shovel and it helped with clearing out the area.
The roads to get into the site were dirt and a bit rough with towing a trailer, but doable. You just need to go slow and steady to get to the destination. Also, we arrived after dark and it was tricky navigating to the campsite. I recommend you arrive before dark if possible.
We definitely want to check this spot out again in the spring or early summer to see the greenery and wildflowers for a different type of camping experience! It was beautiful and different!

360° degree views. Dark Sky with a Phenomenal view of the Milky Way. This is a very primitive site-no water, no bathroom and no trees as it is in a meadow. If you plan to be in site during the day make sure to bring some sort of shade. It looked like there was lots of area to explore if you had an ATV.
Dirt road is very bumpy, and the road leading to the site definitely requires a higher clearance vehicle (truck, suv).
Host was helpful and prompt with instructions and such.
We definitely enjoyed our brief stay and would visit again!

This was our 3rd year camping at this site and it was amazing again! It was so nice escaping the heat in the city to enjoy the cooler weather and the most incredible views! It was quite and peaceful (and next to no bugs!). We will be back again next year! Thank you Jocilyn for sharing your beautiful slice of heaven with us!

The spot was quiet and a beautiful setting. It’s about half a mile off of Ant Flat Road so the occasional vehicle in the area went unnoticed. We were looking for some quiet solitude and this was just what we needed. We pulled a 30 ft trailer to the spot with no problem, although the 6 plus miles on Ant Flat Road were rougher and slower than we expected, but most any vehicle could drive right to the site without much problem.

The access gate to the property was locked and we were not able to get to the property. We had a camp trailer that we had to back up 1/2 mile to the nearest turn around. The road from town to the property was washed out and rutted out terribly and extremely difficult to travel. It took us over an hour to travel less than 10 miles only to arrive at a locked gate. Very beautiful area but very disappointing that we could not enjoy it.

We had a great time tent camping at the lower spot. There is plenty of room for a few tents or camper vehicle. The drive in was not too bad. It is a gravel road and I would recommend a 4WD vehicle with some clearance for ruts and the expected wear in the road.
There is a small fire pit that we used for some cooking and warmth. We had a great time enjoying nature, some quiet, the stars, and wild life. I would stay here again.
Things to consider:
There is a yurt a couple hundred feet up the driveway that other guests stay at. During our stay the guests were in and out, driving by our campground twice a day with 2-3 vehicles. There are some other campers a few hundred feet away but no one else is in the immediate camping area.
There is a nice view. Some walking is allowed however there are a lot of sings for private property neighboring the camp ground.

This campsite is quiet, secluded and there is abundant nature to enjoy! Surprisingly I was able to get some service with my phone (verizon) so that was a great plus! We saw deer and a moose (from a far distance!) while we were setting up and the views were amazing. Unfortunately, a lightening storm rolled through and I did not stay the entire evening as I had decided a rooftop tent was likely not the safest place to be in those conditions (if only we could control the weather!) and I was bummed to miss out on a serene morning here. If we are traveling through the area in the future, I would stay here again!

Really, really beautiful and quiet campsite, 6 miles down a dirt/gravel road in the western foothills of the Monte Cristo range. The road was in good shape; you do need a little bit of clearance to get the very last little bit to the site, but all in all pretty easy driving given how remote it feels. There are some key logistics for access, but the host provides really clear instructions and maps and is super responsive and helpful if something comes up. A memorable site for sure.

This was a very peaceful and quiet place to stay with some beautiful views in the distance. There is a seven or 8 mile stretch of dirt road…a bit bumpy for the van, but no problem at all. The padlock to the yellow gate is a little bit tricky as there is a padlock and a key box visible and of course one assumes the key will fit one of them. No! The right “glass slipper,” if you will is hidden! Suspended underneath the locked rectangular gate latch area. So be mindful of that. The trip from Salt Lake took almost 2 hours with stops. I would say I’d go there again, but only if I could spend more than one night. Thanks for the hospitality and the late checkout since nobody was on our heels coming in! Amazing!!

The instructions on how to get to the campsite were helpful and easy to follow. There was lots of space to place different equipment around the campsite and very secluded. Really beautiful view of the mountain and hillside, the sunsets right over them so it’s a lovely evening view. In the evenings there were many deer roaming around the outskirts and we really enjoyed that. Be mindful of the weather beforehand, we went went during a brisk time of year and there’s no trees or shrubbery to shelter you from any potential wind. Last thing to know is please remember to bring your own toilet as there is no running water. The owners are really responsive and will be able to answer any additional questions you may have about the land.

The campsite was perfect for our needs and Jocilyn was a great host! She was a great communicator and helped us navigate a minor hiccup during “check in.” The site was beautiful and spacious, and it was great to be able to let the dogs run around off leash. There was a burn ban when we went, but Jocilyn gave us a heads up so we were able to plan accordingly. Would definitely stay here again!

This one is way out there! Literally 6 miles of wash boards dirt road followed by a scramble up an even more primative road. If it has been raining 4 wheel drive is a must. But then you get there you are literally where the Buffalo roam. The coyotes talk back and forth and in the distance you can hear the cows bellow. The clouds obscured the stars for us, but if not you are in absolute darkness and urban light pollution hasn't been invented yet.

We had the most amazing time! The land is great! So peaceful and quiet and the only bugs were hundreds and hundreds of butterflies (and no mosquitos!) The property has a gorgeous view where we watched the sunset every night. Jocilyn was so accommodating and even arranged for us to pick up the key right by our house which was a huge timeesaver! It is a little tricky to find, but Jocilyn provided us with detailed instructions and maps that made it easier to find. We cannot wait to book again and make more amazing memories!
