Camp on the Range
Beautiful, secluded open
Beautiful, secluded, quiet and the perfect place to get away from it all. I travel full time in a motor home, usually staying at rv parks and campground. I really needed a place without seeing another person and let my dogs run free. This spot checked all of my boxes. I literally didn’t see one person in the entire week I was there. Beautiful sunsets and even more incredible sunrises. I have a 33’ Winnebago and had no problems getting there. It’s easy to het a little lost so make sure to ask Shane to drop you a pin and a few directions. Shane was on top of making sure I had all my questions answered but wasn’t nosy or invasive. Which to me is the perfect host:) It’s definitely far from anything. Milford is a small town with a few gas stations and markets. But if you’re looking to travel to some of the national parks and don’t mind going a bit out of the way I would definitely recommend. Especially for the price. Oh and I am set up to live off grid if needed so not having any hookups wasn’t a big deal. I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Far away but not too far.
Heaven. Quiet. Peaceful. Great views. Millford’s a cool little town too and minutes away.

Camp on the Range
Stunning landscape, prairie winds, wide open land, and astonishing sunset, all within reach by just a short drive out of the town. Shane was very helpful in his directions, extremely responsive, and patient in helping us make sure we accessed the site. I highly recommend this place for a rustic camp and a big dark sky of stars. Thank you Shane!

Camp on the Range
This place has potential, but we did have some issues, mostly with getting to the property itself. Hipcamp needs to work with the host to provide better directions to access the property. The only thing currently listed in the profile is a set of GPS coordinates, and if you plug those into Google maps coming from the nearby town of Milford, you will end up on the wrong side of a bunch of cattle fencing. We tried a couple dirt roads to get around to the site, but to no avail. We spoke with the host to get some more direction, but this site is really out there, and so you need clear turn-by-turn instructions with landmarks to really find it. I think overall we would have had an easier time if we had approached the property from the south, but Google maps will not direct you that way and doesn't know the condition of the dirt/gravel roads in the area (putting your map on the "terrain" setting will help a bit, to give you an idea of how well-traveled some of the roads are). Regardless, I'd recommend a vehicle with good tires and high clearance, just in case. The site itself is quite remote and secluded. We did see a snake, so be mindful of that if you're walking around/have dogs off-leash. And there was lightning to the north of us in the evening, but it stayed far away, thankfully. It was quite the adventure, and I think with some adjustments this would be a very cool camping spot.
