The site is also being transformed into a permaculture oasis to demonstrate water capture and infiltration, desertification reversal, dryland food production, habitat creation, soil building, reforestation, and indigenous rainfall regime restoration. And you might find large-scale sculptural installations or other artwork around the property.

The Permaculture Oasis
The Permaculture Oasis is a perfect spot to spend your time while visiting Study Butte, Big Bend NP, and Terlingua! Sites are well-marked, and easy to find. The group area is a nice touch, with a brand-new grill, shade cloth, and even a solar-powered charging area for your devices. Cell service is kinda spotty, so it's definitely nice to have free wifi while on the property as well!
