Welcome to The Hippie Crippler Ranch! We offer off-grid hot showers, porta-potties, WiFi, games, and more! These amenities are offered to you for your convenience but don’t forget the simple pleasures of sitting outdoors and listening to Mother Nature around you. We want you to connect with nature! A simpler lifestyle that cuts out the everyday comforts of city life for a more primitive experience. We are only a 30-minute drive to the west entrance of Big Bend National Park. Our campground is 5.5 acres and is located in the North Corazones area of Terlingua Ranch! Our property is loaded with native desert flora, including creosote, a few scattered mesquite trees, and a lone ocotillo. We are nestled in an area with picture-perfect views of Nine Point Mesa, Jack Eden Mesa, the Corazones, and Turtle Mountain, and have one of the best spots for stargazing at night. We’re just 20 minutes from Terlingua Ranch Lodge and Pool and Bad Rabbit Cafe. Enjoy the picturesque Big Bend of Texas at The Hippie Crippler Ranch by pitching your tent or parking your recreational vehicle. With a gated entrance, our campground is completely fenced. Each site comes with a picnic table, trash bin, fire ring, and a 5-gallon potable water dispenser. Living in the desert has brought a lot of peace into our lives. Upon arriving we weren’t sure what to think other than it was absolutely beautiful. As time went by, we found a strong connection to the land, the quietness, and the sound of nature all around. We are overcome with tranquility and a repeated sigh of relief every time we take a drive in any direction. It didn’t take long for us to want to share these experiences with whomever we could connect with. We may be half an hour away from the local towns and parks, but you get to camp in pure nature. No loud cars zooming by, and The Ranch is not an overpopulated campground. Imagine hiking all day, especially if you’re visiting during a busy season, and all you want to do is get back to the peace and quiet of your camp. Well, we provide just that! Whether this is your first, second, or third visit to the Big Bend area we hope you consider staying at The Hippie Crippler Ranch. The basic creature comforts we provide coupled with the tranquility of a primitive lifestyle lead to a perfect getaway for any outdoor enthusiast or lover of nature. We know that the Big Bend area brings in thousands of people seeking adventure and exploration. Our passion is to explore every inch and corner of this world and connect with others, both alike and completely opposite of us. We welcome everyone to our campground and hope that you can take something back with you after your stay with us. Collecting memories not things is something we live by. If this is your first visit to Big Bend, then we want to say thank you for choosing us for your accommodations. If this isn’t your first rodeo, we would also like to express our gratitude to you for giving us the opportunity to host you on your return. We hope that you have the best time camping, hiking and just enjoying the great outdoors. The desert is a beautiful part of the world and should be explored!

Mesquite Grove
This place was very peaceful and serene. From the moment I pulled in and began to set up the tent, I knew it was going to be a special experience. I was blessed with an amazing sunset the first night. I stayed at the Mesquite Grove campsite for 2 nights while exploring Big Bend. It was a nice basecamp with good access to both the west and north entrances to the national park. The Hippie Crippler is about as remote as you can get while still offering basic amenities of drinking water, a nice bathroom, trash can, and a very unique and well-kept outdoor shower. I’ll definitely stay here again if I’m ever in the area looking for a campsite!

Peaceful place to rest your head
We loved staying at this campsite. First night we had the place basically to ourselves but it still felt safe and protected. Showers were hot and clean and so were the toilets. No smells at all! Tanya was also super helpful and quick to respond. Will definitely be staying again!

The Big Bend
Tanya was a great host. Camping area was perfect for us. It was clean and had everything we needed (Restroom, shower, picnic table, fire ring, 5 gals of water at campsite and Starlink WiFi!). Will be back!

our family went tent camping over the weekend and had a blast! the hosts were very responsive and accommodating, the bathrooms were so clean, the sites were spread out, and the picnic table/water jug were great touches. we appreciated the proximity to BBNP as well (about 30 min from maverick junction entrance). we loved that this campground was more private and secluded than others in the area. we weren’t able to see any stars this time due to the high cloud cover this weekend, but on a clear night, the stargazing here would be amazing. we’d love to come back in the future!

The Big Bend
Jeep with Overland Trailer Site 8
Site 8 aka The Big Bend was great, easy to pull into with our Jeep and Overland Trailer. Having the picnic tables and 5 gallons of water at our campsite was also convenient and thoughtful. The common area with yard games was fun for our 3 boys in the evening. The ports potties were AMAZING, I’ve never seen a cleaner and better smelling ports potty in my life, even my wife was impressed with the quality of the toilet paper which was another nice amenity. The showers were amazing and the hot water was awesome to have and easy to use. The Starlink on-site was another added benefit. Never used Starlink before and was very impressed, definitely a nice feature to stay in touch with family and friends and plan out the next days Adventures! We missed meeting Tanya, but rolled into camp at 12:30am and we’re gone pretty much all day hiking and exploring and getting back just in time to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and eat some dinner. The Hippie Crippler Ranch was spectacular and with only one family staying at the ranch while we were there it was like our own private oasis! We will definitely be back and look forward to returning to our now favorite place and staying at The Hippie Crippler Ranch!

Mesquite Grove
Absolutely beautiful location with quick drive to Big Bend National Park. Great fun area for outdoor games, exceptional Wi-Fi where cellular service is extremely spotty, and even a shower and drinking water provided! Not to mention, port a potties that seem brand new! Will definitely be back!
