Want a secluded getaway under the stars, away from the city life and lights, and just peace and tranquility. The possibilities are endless. At night you can sit amongst the stars on the upper patio deck, or just enjoy them with a campfire. Retreat to The Sanctuary at Stunning Sunrise Farm, and enjoy the stars and of course, the cows and baby calves. This property has been in the family for well over 100 years. This cabin was built by my own hands, with lots of love and pride. It definitely has its quirks that make it different, yet still amazing. The stairs to the upper floor is a steep incline/decline. Around the area: We are located approximately 15 minutes from the town of Decatur, 30 minutes from Denton and 1 hour from Fort Worth. Our property is located at the edge of the LBJ Grasslands. Within the LBJ Grasslands there is approximately 700 acres of hiking and biking trails as well as wildlife watching and a few lakes in which you can swim, fish, paddle board, kayak of just picnic. Also within 10 minutes there is the Eagle Canyon Raceway, Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds shooting range and a little community Greenwood with lots of history and an awesome burger, fries, or catfish dinner. Our cabin Sanctuary is definitely a primitive, but glorified camping experience. It is primitive in the aspects that there is no running water, no permanent electricity, no flushable toilet, no kitchen, and no shower. It is glorified in the aspects of being extremely cozy, having a roof over your head, a very comfortable bed, a very quiet indoor safe place from any intruders or wildlife, and two patios, both with a gorgeous view. You have no need to ever lock any doors, but definitely close the screens to keep the bugs out!!! There is a generator that is provided for temporary use of any electricity that may be needed. A donation for the use of gas is expected. The cabin is equipped with six plugs, 3 upstairs and 3 downstairs. We have provided firewood that is close to the cabin for your use. Also, we have matches and paper that will be provided to help you get your fire started. The trek down to the cabin is a little over 1/2 mile from the gated entrance. The first 2/10 of a mile is gravel and the last almost 4/10 of a mile is a dirt/grass pathway that is outlined with vehicle tracks. No 4wheel drive is needed, but there are parts of the pathway that are a little rough and not recommended to do over 5 mph. You will definitely see cows, calves, cow poop, and depending on the weather, you may experience a muddy drive. If you do accidentally have a mishap and gets stuck in the mud, as long as you’re within the area, where are you are supposed to be driving, we will pull you out free of charge. If you have been found to be in an area that you were not supposed to be, and we believe it was intentional, there will definitely be a charge to pull you out.

The Sanctuary
Shane and Jessica were very welcoming. They checked up on us and made sure we had everything we needed. Shane provided a drum of clean non-potable water for us to clean and use. They even brought us some freshly picked peaches from their tree. The cabin has a generator in the event you would need electricity and the cabin is well set up. It was a great time and provided much needed tranquility.
