We planned the trip expecting a thunderstorm for the whole 3 days, the first night it stormed everyone else left besides us. We had the whole place to ourselves and it didn’t even rain the other 2 days. It was so relaxing!! We even rented one of the paddle boats and enjoyed some fishing on the river!! Will definitely be back!

Site 5 - Sandy Bottoms River Camp

Cool place , just not enough camping by the river. We pick a spot by a travel trailer and a make shift home and too close to other campers... Do not pick site 5 !! The owner was nice and gave a refund but the weekend was ruined ...

It was fine for the price, however somewhere in the description it should say that these tent camp sites are not on the water. The pics make you believe that they may be water front spots. Also some dude who had about 5 acres worth of campsites to choose from chose to camp about 40 ft from me. He kept offering me food to start up a conversation. It's like when there are 20 urinals to choose from and some guy walks up to the one next to you and starts talking to you.

It was clean it was close to the river everybody involved was very nice it was a very pleasant stay there were a lot of RVs but it was still decently quiet at night lots of deer in the morning everything was as promised will definitely be back when the river is not so high

Great stay right on the river

The SBRC crew were very generous to upgrade our stay to the RV so that we could sit right by the river, since the water conditions were too risky for tubing. They were there to greet us and get us situated and settled in when we arrived and went above and beyond accommodating my late booking. Cell reception is weak (its in the country) so messages sometimes take a few minutes to go thru. Everything was very well kept with all amenities provided for, and SBRC even went out of their way to set us up with a fishing pole and some firewood. The small local grocery up the road had everything that we needed saving us the trip into town. Sitting by the river enjoying the sunshine was paradise for us, and I really look forward to going back again soon.

RV on the Brazos

Site 2 - Sandy Bottoms Cabins

The exceptional customer service absolutely made this trip for me. I had tried to book a stay with them back in November for it to be canceled due to the rain/ mud on the property. I decided to rebook again this past weekend and Sandy Bottoms River Co offered a free upgrade for the inconvenience on the cancellation form November. I met John at the RV site, which was right on the Brazos with a beautiful 3-Tiered Deck, hammock, fire pit, and gas grill. John was so sweet making sure I had everything I needed. I will definitely be booking with them again!

It was difficult to get in touch with the owner for starters but everything turned out fine and we were able to set up everything just fine. I sort of wish that it wasn’t in the middle of some trees in a trailer park. Not a bad spot for $26/ night though.

It was a nice little place and liked how all of the hooks even septic was all together at each rv site. They had a nice little stack of firewood at the campsite. The river was a little further away then what I thought it would be due to the pictures but still a nice visit and we enjoyed it.

Was a good get away however the sites are not like the pictures! The river is a walk across the street. Lots of sketchy people walking around at night and a couple of spots have some full time not so nice looking rvs sitting on blocks. One guy likes everybody to know how loud his motorcycle is.

Was a little misleading, there’s a walk to get to the river. Overall was a nice relaxing weekend. The trees around the spots need to be trimmed, limbs were low also around the rv connections. Good water pressure and the WiFi was great. If you have AT&T or Verizon the service is off and on with 1 bar at best. There were some pretty sketchy people wandering around at night and I’m assuming it is a person that stays there full time who likes everybody to know how loud his motorcycle is.

Two sisters

We had a very good time camping at Sandy Bottoms. There was a communication issue when we first arrived and we had to wait. However, once we were able to communicate. (No wifi without a password so our phones weren’t working.) things went great. John arrived and showed us our lot and how we access the river. He supplied tubes for the water and even assisted us in connecting our water line. We are two sisters and John was very helpful. We appreciated his assistance.

RV Site 1 in gated Beach Property

First I must say John was great and very responsive! We were in spot 3 it was by the road and not the green plush place that are in the pictures. Sandy and stickers in our dogs feet. Porta potty was by our space. Multiple road walkers at night which was not comfortable. Did not work for us.

Overall we had a good experience. The location is pretty rugged getting to and from camp site. Smaller campers would have an easier time. Camp site had full connection with water electricity and sewage without any problems. The campsite is sandy with sticker burrs so be prepared. The man running it was very helpful with any questions. They had Kayaks and tubes to rent. The river is very shallow and a good spot for little kids.

Fantastic hidden gem :) My family needed a one-night getaway close to home & got lucky finding Sandy Bottoms. River Access was perfect for us to relax with our 6 year old & John couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Excellent experience - we’ll be back!

The camping there was great! It was super relaxing And the river Access was right there by our campsite. John was great. He always came and checked on us made sure we had firewood, brought the kids floaties, gave them rides on his golf cart. By far the most family friendly place we’ve been so far. The residents that live here are so welcoming and nice.

Not Quite What We Expected

We picked this location because we’d be right next to the water. Although I rcvd texts to coordinate arrival time so the camp host could open the gate, there was miscommunication regarding how payment could be rcvd for the firewood offered. Unfortunately, we never received it. We were placed at the wrong location that night and there was some delayed communication about the WiFi available in that area. It is not clear from the pictures that the RV sites are appx 15 ft from the road depending on the length of your rig. We could hear almost every vehicle, golf cart, and ATV that passed by so if you’re looking for a super quiet experience, this might not be a great option. Unfortunately after two hours of communication issues, it created so much frustration that we ended up staying in our spot instead of moving to the beach location we booked. RV spots are approximately 15ft apart. Be careful if there is rain in the forecast. Might be difficult to get out of the spots without gravel. - WiFi was a nice feature - Appreciate hookups even though we don’t need them. - Lots of deer so that was nice - Would love to see a significant sign to identify the area. - John was friendly and I could tell he was trying to be helpful. - They allowed us to stay another day because of the beach vs RV site price difference but still ended up overpaying. We were looking forward to this stay. I’m not sure it met our expectations, but we wish them the best. I’m not sure we will return.

We loved how many trees there were it really helped with the heat plenty of shade. We also loved the river people were very nice and John who took care of the campgrounds was very nice and came around to make sure we were always good we will definitely be back.

Campsite 3, site 1 did not work for us. We have an airstream and the full hookup we booked as a pull through wasn’t level enough nor was the water/electric/sewer on the correct side. Unfortunately, after driving 4 hours we were unable to stay. Too many trees in the way, no level access, and just not accessible for our 27ft airstream which doesn’t have much clearance. We did text ahead our arrival but the camp host wasn’t available at the time of our arrival, shortly after 2pm. We left without staying for the three nights we booked.

A+ Brazos River Camp by Sandy Beach

Great spot for “car camping” by a sandy beach (the best we saw in the area) on the Brazos River! The property manager, John, lives a few miles away and was VERY HELPFUL - from taking us to our spot when we went to the wrong place, to showing us what was around and taking us back to our spot after we tubed the river! Location: 20 mins outside of Weatherford, TX Campsite is a mowed grass field with surrounding trees - great for shade, tents, clotheslines and hammocks. You walk from the field right onto the beach. Amenities: 2 Port-A-Potties, 2 picnics tables, some fire rings and a trash can communal to the site. Cell service was 1-2 bars for both AT&T and Verizon. Quiet: Depends on the season and the day I'm sure, but we hardly saw anyone else on the water. Also, the only access to the site is through a private drive so there was no unnecessary vehicle or foot traffic. Both nights we spent were quiet and we couldn’t hear any road noise from where we were. And, if the bugs are out, you’d better go heavy on the bug spray.
