Jose was very generous to let us have the camp to ourselves. We found a great flat spot for our tent (6 person size) and enjoyed having a campfire each night. Jose’s was one of the few places that we found that could have fires, so that was a plus. There were gorgeous sunsets each night, and the half moon was bright enough to navigate in the dark and see your shadow. Just follow his instructions and you’ll be fine and be mindful of your own trash. We had no issues keeping our food and trash in the car at night with any wildlife. The only “encounter” we had was with a little Chihuahuan Pocket Mouse that wanted to join us and curl up by the fire. We really had a great time and would gladly stay there again :)

I traveled with my cousin who recommended this spot. All I have to say is I am speechless. A STUNNING location with gorgeous views. Easy directions to get to the site.

If you are looking for a spot to watch the stars. I high recommend booking with Jose: I love the deck area I felt safe. Didn’t want to put the tent on the ground. Also the restroom is comfy didn’t smell at all, the pine shavings make a difference. I look forward to returning it’s so breathtaking ♥️

First of all I have to say Jose is a super host. He was so helpful and made sure we were prepared for our trip out there. He took the time out of his day to set up an itinerary and what we could do in a ghost town where service is hard to come across from. The restroom was comfortable and smelled nice compared to others, the pine shavings really do help contain the smell. You can also pick up some cellphone service from there. The stars looked amazing, was able to see lots of shooting stars 😍. This is my new favorite spot. I look forward to booking again in January. Thank you so much for everything. God bless!

I recently stayed at the Nesting Star Campground and had a fantastic experience. The campsite, with its ample space for our pop-up and a lovely designated campfire area, was a comfortable and relaxing retreat. The facilities were in excellent condition for the primitive site, and the host, Jose, was friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful, surrounded by mountain views and canvassed with a starlit sky, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere. I highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a spacious, relaxing outdoor getaway in Terlingua.

Jose stood out most of all. He was so worried about me & often sent reminders & cautions, & tips to make my stay better. The vault toilet smelled better than some people's indoor toilets. (I would never have thought of using pine shavings!) I was the only camper & it was so quiet. I actually got to hear coyotes howl at night!!! Hauntingly beautiful!!! The mountains made a lovely border; I have the most amazing sunrise/sunset photos... & only 1/2 hour from Big Bend. It was great.

If you've never been to Big Bend National Park, or this part of the world, GO! And stay at Nesting Star! Off the beaten path, but well worth the experience. I stayed on one of the raised decks. My tent fit nicely. Had a toasty fire in the nearby fire pit - ot was 80's in the day, low 40's at night! Saw a billion stars all around, like the Eagles sang, and I definitely had a "peaceful, easy feeling." Even at a time of no regular meteor showers, I saw 8, mostly near the Big Dipper!
The only bummer was I had to eventually put my fire out and go to bed!
Host Jose was gracious, responsive, positive. 5 stars! Actually, a billion stars!

Jose's camp was great, it was easy to get to with Google maps. The sky deck kept us from sleeping on the floor and let us see the stars from our tent. I couldn't believe how quiet it was out there, you don't hear a thing except for the coyotes howling occasionally, which I thought was super cool. It is so dark at night, perfect for stargazing. I stayed up till 4 am and saw the Milky Way rise up into the sky, I brought a tripod with me and took some beautiful pictures of it with my phone. I would definitely recommend this place, and I would 100% camp here again.

Fantastic experience! We wanted a primitive campsite close to big bend. Terlingua is right around the corner, and we had plenty of firewood for our stay. Restroom was available and lit at night. Camp was easy to set up and the sky deck made things super convenient. We had a fantastic time. If you're looking for tent camping near big bend this is your spot!

We loved camping at Jose’s site! The views were amazing! The directions were clear, we had no problem finding it. Jose upgraded our campsite, so we got to stay at the sky deck! The bathroom and shower room were so clean, and so nice to have. The sites are nicely spread apart so we could see the other campers but we couldn’t hear them. I will definitely be recommending Jose’s land to any of my friends or family that are looking for a place to camp!

Remote and beautiful campsite not too far from town. Jose is so nice and generous! Toilet is very clean and the sky decks are very comfortable. The stars were beautiful!

I had an amazing stay at Jose's Nesting Star Camp. I really liked sleeping on the deck under the stars - I didn't worry about bugs or other critters joining me in my sleeping bag. The location was remote enough to have dark skies that made the stars so bright - we even saw the Milky Way! I was worried at first about driving my 2wd Volt out there. But the camp wasn't far at all from the paved roads and it was no problem at all! One other thing I wanted to point out is the bathroom. It was sparkling clean and it was nice to have a warm shower at the end of the day. I highly recommend this camp and plan to stay here again.
