1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING Free firewood for use during your stay and can make a good deal if you want to take some home! As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have approximatley 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls 3. What we call the big pond which has the beginnings of a zip line if i can re-engineer how i have it tied on the opposite bank..right now its not high enough on the opposite bank. The goal is to zip line from one bank to the opposite and drop into the water...about 150 ft. It may or may not stay once we try it out...dont anyone getting hurt...But I think zip lines are a blast and we need to do a few rope swings into the water too! The Ridge
Milky Way, Wildlife and River Hangs
We booked this stay last minute for my 30th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed everything Fritz’s property had to offer. We were met immediately with a ton of really neat wildlife when we drove in, tarantulas crossing the road, deer, hogs, tons of butterflies and the campsite on the ridge was just beautiful. we all agreed we had never seen the Milky Way quite like that. We got to swim at the ladder which was refreshing and beautiful. I will say my only complaint I just wasn’t clear that views like the ridge or the ladder were private when booked so other campers couldn’t come check the spaces out or hang for awhile, I just felt the price was expensive to not have access to all the cool and beautiful spots. we did have people come through our spot and didn’t mind and there was minor drama I felt bad about at the swim spot because I didn’t know it was private. We were told the day before it was for swimming so we just assumed we had access all weekend. I usually like to book my stays with swimming included with nice flowing and deep water if my dog is with me. I really loved Fritz’s place. He was the best host and super kind. It was a magical place we felt so lucky he shared with everyone and this really made my birthday feel incredibly special with the people I adore. We would love to come back one day.

Big Pond Tent Site
Spectacular
This is such a hidden gem. I wish I could gatekeep but I want to make sure that I do my part in bringing in business. It’s clean, shaded, and secluded. The pond and trees create a picturesque moment that doesn’t feel real at times. The wildlife is active. Fritz is so accommodating!! I highly recommend. We will return

The Green Cabin
I absolutely loved the land! The Green Cabin was great. I was able to totally relax. Totally unplugged and peaceful. The water was refreshing, clear. If you explore you will see some amazing views. Being able to have my dog made the visit extra special. I highly recommend the Laf Ranch. Fritz is a very friendly host, and goes out of his way to make sure you are happy. +++++

The Ladder Swimming Hole
Beautiful place! 10/10
The property was breathtaking, it felt so remote and isolated in a great way. There was no trash or debri. The road entering the property was in excellent condition. We thoroughly enjoyed the water at the ladder with our two young children. Floating and exploring the rocks across the spring was a favorite for all. Fritz is very kind and assured we had everything we needed. He shared the neat history of the family property. The area is beautiful and quiet. You will love any spot here. We often thought we were no longer in Texas. Thank you Fritz for sharing your gorgeous property with us. We can’t wait to return.
