The camping area was clean, spacious and well-maintained, with fire pits and trash cans provided. With amenities such as flushing toilets and hot showers, we will definitely be returning, during Steampunk November (the event held near the camping grounds) and for other events nearby.

The camp grounds are very nice and fairly well thought out. A little difficult to know where to go but once you figure out the layout it's a little easier. I love that it was just a short walk from most of the campsites to the restrooms. A little more info about what to expect and also where the showers were located would help. Showers were fair except the wooden backsplash was kinda gross. Oh well. I'm just glad there were showers with hot water etc. Would def recommend and will def return

We were very close to the showers and the toilet. There was a large trashcan right at the campsite. Even though the hipcampers were relatively close to one another in proximity, the cedar grove of trees provided a lot of privacy, it was very peaceful and quiet the Sat night we stayed.

Unfortunately my hosts weren’t home and they had taken their Hipcamp out of the system for February but this was not activated by administrators. Never mind neighbors contacted hosts who were very concerned and happy to let me stay . The setting looks great but I didn’t check things out with the hosts being absent. I would go back . Hopefully I will get a refund from Hipcamp.

This is a beautiful quiet place each campsite is nestled in trees separating one another. The bathroom and shower facilities are good the staff. is absolutely wonderful. RVs or tents they got you covered

Even though the sites on this property are somewhat close to each other the thick gorgeous cedar coverage give each site a secluded back country feel perfect for an awesome tent camping experience. The property itself is very well maintained and beautifully kept. Shane and Leslie are super friendly people and have put forth a tremendous amount of effort into making Cedar Groves of Amber Inn very inviting. I love this place and will definitely be back!

I have nothing but good things to say about Shane and Leslie! The campsite was beautiful and well maintained. There were many campsites to choose from, from large to secluded to easy access to the flushable bathroom!! The weather was not very favorable for our trip and upon arrival, Shane addressed the possibility of us getting stuck and preemptively offered to pull us out with his tractor if that happened! We enjoyed talking to both Shane and Leslie. They are fantastic hosts! We spent a bit of time chatting and getting to know them and the events they host throughout the year, but were also given privacy. We WILL be coming back!!

Camp grounds were perfect. Went for the eclipse and there were lots of friendly people there to witness the event. Although there were many camp sites there, it still felt private because of trees separating each site. There was bathrooms and showers so that was awesome. We stayed up by our campfire and the night sky was beautiful. Definitely going back!

Leslie, Shane, and co. have an amazing property. There is a more “community oriented” area with a fire pit or you can be more off on your own. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. The family/staff are so nice. We’d definitely stay there again!

The positive things first: we were greeted by welcoming camp staff. They were very helpful showing us around the camp. The sites are clean separated by other sites by evergreen trees. The camp offers hot showers and for a $10 you can have unlimited firewood for the night.
The things to be aware of: the spacing between sites is tight, so although you can’t see your neighbors you can hear them even when they use conversation voice. Not necessarily a bad thing in the daytime, but at night it can be annoying if you settle down for the night when your neighbors are around the campfire talking.
What they could do better: the showers could definitely be cleaner. I’d suggest wearing water shoes or flip flops. Admittedly the camp was busy the night before the eclipse- perhaps the showers are normally cleaner when the camp isn’t as busy. The water coming out of the shower is hard - there are a lot of rust stains on the shower floor and you can smell the iron.

I car camped in the East Meadow for the April 8th eclipse, and it was great! I don’t think the East Meadow is open for camping outside of a special event like that, but I feel lucky to have gotten a spot. I didn’t really know what to expect because I booked the spot really last minute, but what a beautiful property. The hosts were very friendly and the property had everything I needed, plus some. Now I want to come back for their Steampunk November event!

Had a great time. The mood was way more chill than if we had camped at a state park (which had been our preference). So glad we ended up here. Everything they did made the stay great. Great communication. Plenty of staff to help work the campsites and get us in and settled. Looking into visiting again sometime!

Came for the 2024 Eclipse and it was everything we were hoping for! A great spot to camp close enough to DFW that it was easy to get there and back but felt like you were much farther out in some nature and still had the amenities you need. Cool little steampunk village grounds that on the property too. Plus everyone there was just so nice and helpful

Really neat place, that is also the grounds for a Steampunk Festival, so beyond the trees and farmland there's some funky buildings and gardens and performance stages. We were there for the eclipse and they were sold out, so keep in mind - what you would consider a **small** TX State Park camp site, they consider a double, and you'll share a fire pit. If cooking over the fire is part of your jam, you may have to work that out with other campers - also, most of the fire pits are made from things like metal washer tubs, so they're like 2-3 feet above the ground, maybe a little tougher for cooking (we found a normally low one) and the fire's kind of "deep" inside a steel ring. So maybe go ahead and book two sites if you want privacy, though we had fun neighbors (vegetarians that didn't seem to mind the large chunks of cow we were throwing on the fire). Shane's a cool/bright/fun guy with great stories and a really warm heart, he'll be a highlight of your trip, and all the staff (they were staffed up for an eclipse party) were super-friendly, we had plenty of great conversations. Bathrooms were serviceable and not gross, porta-potties are scattered about the property and they were clean. Trash cans near all the sites and a water hose a short walk away. The camping crowd ranged from teens to old farts like us, it was a quiet and chill crowd, everyone got nice and quiet at night, no frat boys or douchebaggery going on. Overall a great trip. I expect we'll be back!
