Great campsite, beautiful
The campsite was beautiful, loved the lights. Error on my part to camp when it’s 35 degrees at night however haha. Great campsites overall, host Ryan was very kind.

Very comfortable!
As a host, Ryan is top in my book! The place was so well kept and clean with a bunch of added things to make guests feel at ease while camping on his grounds. Clean place to go to the bathroom, extra water for guests, and lights that make fireside camping at night so dreamy! I’m definitely keeping this site on my list of options the next time I go camping!

Great hammocking spot
Booked for 3 nights the night before, and everything was set up when we arrived. We were greeted and given a tour of the property, it's big enough to wander around, plenty of space for privacy if you're with a few people. There are enough trees around that you could hang a few hammocks, but the spot right at the entrance is perfect to catch the sunrise from your floating bed.
At night the stars are much more visible than in the city. Not bad for only being 30ish minutes from SA. There's a couple highways that surround the northern half of the property, but they're far enough away that road noise is distant and not disturbing. The distant neighbors seem to leave their dogs outside to bark all night long.
Speaking of, I went for a long walk around the neighborhood and got chased by a couple small dogs. I didn't realize at first because I was jogging with earbuds, but they chased me for a good couple minutes before I got tired of it and chased them back. A few minutes later I was greeted by a couple puppies that were playing in the street and I'm guessing their mom. They followed me until I got to the next property, then they peeled off. Obviously the host isn't responsible for any of that, just FYI.
You CAN pet the donkeys next door if you're patient =) There's also deer everywhere and I saw a hare.
All in all we had an amazing stay and would definitely return, Ryan and Mona are fantastic hosts; my friend and I highly recommend staying at Big Oak.

Fantastic Camping Experience
Absolutely loved staying on Ryan's farm. Its a beautiful , peaceful farm a little less than half hour from Boerne. The campsite is a little away from Ryan's house and is very private. There are solar-powered string lights at the campsite which look fantastic in the evening after sunset.
Ryan is a very caring , attentive host who ensures your stay is nothing short of perfect.
I couldn't have asked for a better experience camping in Texas. Looking forward to returning in the future.

The Big Oak campsite is one of my favorite places to come camping at. It’s on a beautiful property that is peaceful and quiet. The host were so friendly. They came out as soon as we pulled up and gave us a tour of their property. We highly recommended this campsite. We are excited to stay here again soon.

A great space for some peace and quiet! A friend and I visited Ryan's property for our annual motorcycle trip. Quiet and certainly more private than a campground. A handful of good restaurants just a 10 minute drive down the road.
Met Ryan for just a few minutes. Very kind and welcoming. Great communication leading up to our stay. I will certainly return!!

Amazing, especially for kids
We had some first time campers so we wanted something that felt like camping but wasn't too far or too much in case the kids couldn't handle it. I booked our stay and within minutes our host called and welcomed us and we olanned this out. When we arrived, the site was perfect, they put out a 5 gallon jug of fresh water for us. The host family is incredibly kind and welcoming and honestly I'd rather keep camping here than just about anywhere. What a nice camp site with some strings of lights that come on at night to add to the charm. It's a beautiful place and everyone had a blast. Thank you guys for the great site and your hospitality, we'll see you again soon.

Son and I Loved It
This space is beautiful! A great way to get in the hill country and take it in. As an avid camper and naturalist, this property is spot on. My only regret, not getting any fresh eggs from the farm, but we were on the go on this trip. We spotted a peregrine falcon at our camp (watch out chickens) and too many whitetail deer to count. Maybe the best part is it is positioned very well to see both sunrise and sunset during good weather: pro tip- plan accordingly.
The hosts were also super friendly and met us to show us the camp. They offered us help or anything if we needed it, but let us be otherwise. As a regular primitive camper, this place has very fresh local water on site, firewood if you need it, a view, a BATHROOM, shade, space, not too far from beautiful town of Boerne, it really is perfect.

This is a beautiful site and the owners of the land are both incredibly sweet. Donkeys across the road, bold chickens running about happily, and the occasional squall of peacocks all make this place a wonderful dive into nature. Fresh water was out for us at our site when we arrived and it has clever solar lights set up to provide a nice atmosphere in the evening. We were greated with free range eggs the first morning which made for spectacular breakfast both days. A truly beautiful place to be, definitely would come back again.
