El Cosmico takes its inspiration from a long American history of hippies, nomads, bohemians and those living a life of self-determination. We believe in tuning in, dropping out and being here now. Vehicles are not allowed onto the grounds, so if you are staying in your car or RV you will post up in our large parking lot with easy access to the grounds. Tent camping is dispersed, so you pick your space within the designated camping areas that are indicated on the property map provided at the front desk. Front desk hours are from 7:30am-11:00pm daily. If you are arriving after 11pm please call ahead for late check-in instructions.We provide the earth, you provide the shelter. BYO-Tent. Camping in your own tent or vehicle is $30 per night, per tent or vehicle for reservations checking in Sunday through Thursday and $50 per night for reservations checking in on Friday or Saturday nights (kids under 13 camp for free), and includes access to our communal spaces and bathhouses. Vehicles are not allowed onto the grounds, so if you are staying in your car or RV you will post up in our large parking lot with easy access to the grounds. Tent camping is dispersed, so you pick your space within the designated camping areas that are indicated on the property map. Maps are available at the front door of our main building. No need to check-in with the front desk, just grab a map and set-up.

Self Camping at El Cosmico

Overall we enjoyed our stay at el cosmico. I would have loved to have more trash cans around and the availability to park closer. This would have helped when getting camp set up and taken down. It’s a super cute area and we felt safe with the kiddos.

Self Camping at El Cosmico

A Dream

My partner and I tent-camped at El Cosmico nights 2 and 3 of our road trip. We chose a shady spot underneath a tree next to a picnic table and cooked in the outdoor kitchen area both nights. In our downtime, we made music, drew, read, and perused the vinyl collection in the lounge. This space is extremely well-cared for and beautifully realized. It is a calm and creative outdoor hostel for anyone passing through Marfa. Other than feeling a little too exposed to the sometimes noisy highway, everything about the stay was fantastic. Excellent recommendations, delicious complimentary coffee, a legendary outdoor stage to write music on, top-tier soap, and friendly energies abound. I’m sure the new location will be just as wonderful, and I can’t wait to check it out.

Self Camping at El Cosmico

Not traditional camping but safe

I needed a safe place to camp for a night so I booked El Cosmico on Hipcamp: Positive- provides clean bathrooms, safe, easy to book and find, free coffee in the AM, fun space Negative- This space is not great for tent camping because it is a clamping business. The tent camping is on the lawn surrounded by the Yurts/Campers/Tepees and more, therefore, you are surrounded by walking paths with lights on all night as well as lights on all night throughout the property because the clampers aren’t impacted. You will also hear everyone coming back at night from town between 11 pm-1pm since you are surround by the walking paths. It was strange to camp on a lawn/courtyard. So not ideal for tent camping- bright, loud, not private. It looks fun to clamp though if you don’t mind paying more.

So much fun! Easy checkin and Free coffee ☕️ in the morning! The outdoor showers were amazing with great pressure and heat.
