Our spacious campground provides the perfect setting for a peaceful getaway. * EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY OF NATURE with our prime waterfront RV /tent sites, offering stunning views and tranquility. Experience camping in a private paradise by the water with amazing views of sunrises and sunsets. There's a good chance you will get a glimpse of beavers building their dams along the shoreline or see numerous rare black squirrels circle the many tall trees playing gleefully. Many species of birds and wildlife make their home here, including white-tailed deer, feral hogs, fox, coyote, bobcat, raccoon, rabbit and various waterfowl. Love to fish! Two docks available for fishing and kayaking. Just cast a line for crappie, bass and catfish and cook fresh at your campsite. Socialize with your friends and family in the evenings around campfires while roasting marshmallows and toasting your favorite beverages. Music allowed at sites and around property, however we ask guests to be respectful of other campers and limit noise after 10:00 p.m. What if you forget something? Don't worry, it's about a mile to the nearest little country grocery store and restaurant called "Grand Pops". They serve up some great hamburgers and other home-style meals. Most people have "Hot Spots" on their phones these days. Don't let all the "whats and ifs" deter you. With a little bit of planning, a healthy dose of the adventurous spirit, your camping will make you crave more. Here's some items to think about: Water, toiletries, privacy tents, fire starters, cooking utensils, pots and pans, stove, fuel, utensils, first-aid kit, sunscreen, bug spray, sleeping bag, pillow, backpack, chairs, ice chest, trash bags. We ask that you please haul off your own trash. *Explore the surrounding nature, build campfires, watch wildlife and enjoy a rejuvenating hike amidst the picturesque landscape. RELAX AT CAMP JOY! Peaceful tranquility and serenity will lift all the hustle and bustle weights of life off your shoulders! It's time to relax and surround yourself with the sounds and smell of nature. ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS! Camp Joy offers guests two docks available to use for fishing, lounging, getting in and out of kayaks on the property. The one shown was built as handicap accessible. This small lake is one of three lakes in the area called "Cade Lakes". Great for catching crappie, bass and catfish. Kids enjoy watching the turtles push each other off the logs seen around the banks. If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Check for local events happening all around such as Aggie Football Games, Snook ChiliFest, Market Days on the Square in Caldwell and much, much more!

Upon arrival we were greeted with stray dogs or neighborhood dogs that were not contained. Having dogs with us, this made it irritating trying to settle in with them not leaving us alone the majority of our stay. The property is nestled in a not so well kept neighborhood so the photos are a bit misleading — otherwise we had a great time and was able to borrow a water hose since we forgot ours! Amazing trees to have a campfire under.

Overall we had fun, nice campground with the best shower and restroom, the host Joy is a 5 star host all around, she answers fast and its helpful, but this sites are nowhere near secluded, you are close to neighboors and across the water you can hear their cars and music, they also had a party and starting shooting guns, i am all about guns but when you use them responsably, we ended up leaving due to not feeling safe, the floor is also cover in ants so be mindfull of your dogs and kids, we are full of ant bites all over. firewood is included which is nice.

Great spot not too far from Houston. Quiet and relaxing lake. Local dogs will break into anything they can, so be careful—we forget to lock our camping box. Overall, peaceful location we hope to visit often Also, Granpops down the road has legit hamburgers!.

We had the entire camp to ourselves for 5 days! The landscape was kept up beautifully and we had plenty of room for our RV and fencing for our dogs! We will definitely go back for some rest and relaxation!

My husband and I loved the property at Camp Joy. Everything is easily accessible and very well kept. We ended up being the only 2 campers on the property when we went but still had a very family feel as it is not very big but nicely spaced. We plan on visiting again. Also, even though not met in person, Ms. Joy was not only very informative but soo kind and welcoming in our back and forth conversations on the app.

CAMP JOY - TENT CAMPING

We really enjoyed tent camping at Camp Joy! We felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves and fully took advantage of it. Paddle boarding in the morning, afternoon and evening with our dog while watching the sunrise and sunset was pure bliss. Unlimited firewood was a huge plus and boy did our steaks taste better than ever cooking over it! Eating under the stars surrounded by the sounds of frogs was magical. Lastly, having a flushable toilet and hot shower was an added bonus. Definitely recommend a stay here!

Very nice. Very relaxing. We caught two bass in the lake but let them go. My city dogs did not know what to do with the frogs and crickets making noise. It was so nice letting my dogs off the leash and giving them freedom.

We loved staying at Camp Joy! The land was beautiful, the bathroom was clean and the shower was really nice. The view of the water from our tent was so beautiful and it was so peaceful. There is some road noise but it wasn't overbearing. An abundance of firewood was already provided at each campsite as well which was great! We did have a puppy come visit us that wandered onto the campsite from across the street. We didn't mind and he was super friendly. We actually really enjoyed the little guy, haha. We also saw the cat Duchess that lives on the property who was sweet as well. Overall it was a trip full of animals and beautiful views. Will definitely want to come again!
