Briers Ranch Primitive Camping
Private and secluded
We really enjoyed our experience here. The property is nestled away from major roads and has great variety in open pastures, woods, and even a cool little cabin. We pitched a tent in the woods and enjoyed the quiet serenity of the country. We certainly would like to return for another stay!

The site was easy to get to, lots of freedom to pick a spot, very clean property, and Briers were awesome hosts. Definitely a do over.

Shady retreat
A beautiful piece of land for quiet getaways. Gary and his wife are friendly people and they give clear directions and are there to help if needed. A fun place to explore, sit by the fire, and watch the stars.

Family Camping!
Had a great time with the family, plenty of nice spots to set up camp, 2 have picnic tables, and plenty of wood to gather. Plenty of wildlife around, had a few racoons come just outside the campsite and the wonderful sounds of coyotes howling to put you to sleep.

I didn’t not go to the camp site because of the length of time Gary took to approve the stay, we stayed at another campground, can we get a refund

Really pretty spot that’s super secluded. It’s a little bit of a rough trail getting to the campsite if it’s muddy but easy to navigate in pretty much any vehicle. This is one of the best sites in the Houston area.

Awesome place to camp
Gary’s place is very nice. It’s 200 acres of pasture land with some wooded areas. There’s a lot to explore there and a lot of wildlife. The cows don’t bother you. I’ll definitely return again.

Briers Ranch Primitive Camping
We camped at Briers the weekend before Christmas so had the entire place to ourselves which was awesome, it was a cold 2 nights but we were able to gather plenty of wood for the fire and spend time listening to the coyote symphony throughout the night. We decided to camp in the more frequently used spot that has a wooden table and is close to the potable water, but saw several other interesting spots close to a pond that we'll try out on a future visit. We were treated to a beautiful sunset on the Saturday night followed by the pasture covered in frost on the Sunday morning :) would definitely recommend camping here to anyone looking for a primitive camping getaway that's not far from Katy / Houston etc.

Even due to my personal schedule and the lightening I did not get to stay at Gary’s land but he was very informative and willing to allow me to switch my schedule. Next time I am in the area I will be willing to stay at his property.

We loved tent camping on Gary’s land. There was another campsite nearby but we didn’t really hear them and the site was quiet and private. My toddler enjoyed watching the cows!

Great place to get away from all the noise and lights. You'll feel like you're really out in nature. The property is massive and the host is fast to respond and super nice and helpful. Would recommend and will repeat soon.

Nice get away close to home
Great place to camp. Took the kids they had a blast exploring the woods and being outside. Initial reservation was for one night ended up extending to two. Not far away from us so that was a plus. Nice shade from the sun and good breezes made warm days very enjoyable. Can’t wait to do it again.

another 10/10 time!
I’ve been to Briers a handful of times now and I’m still discovering new things! There is so much to explore and I feel very safe here. I know I can “get lost” in wooded areas without ever truly being lost. There are several unique environments to camp on among the property. Open pasture, deep woods, woods with pasture view. Even by the cabin! Gary is an excellent host! - giving campers their space while also always being available (even on thanksgiving!). I have hung with the cows, explored decaying trees (might sound strange, but there’s so much life at a dead tree, very cool), had many of fires with the free wood that is provided (thank you, gary!!), and lots of cozy nights under the stars! There is some traffic that can be heard and the occasional very distant neighbor practicing shooting (i think??), but these really arent too bothersome when you’re out there because the wind in the trees usually covers it. always nice and quiet at night, you can hear the coyotes in the distance. I could go on, but highly recommend checking this place out for yourself!

Primo primitive camping experience
Had a wonderful time at Brier’s ranch. A truly magical place. The cattle were my constant companions. The mooing of the cows, and braying of the bulls was the best music I’ve heard in a long time. Lots of very talkative crows as well. The campsite in the little oak grove a few hundred yards from the unfinished cabin was the perfect spot to reconnect with nature. Thank you Gary for opening your pasture to campers like me. I will say that I’m glad I drive a truck, because I’m not sure my old Honda Accord could have made it across all that grass to the back of the pasture where the cabin and the campsites are. But if you’re into backpack hiking then you could always leave your car near the entrance and hike all the way back there. Probably about a mile or so across lots of grassy pasture, and through four or five open gates that section off the various portions of it.

Fantastic time
Fantastic area. My only complaint was the road noise was annoying. I believe it was a more a problem of where I camped rather than the area. Beautiful camp ground though.
