Overpriced, barren, barely a campsite. Mostly just a dirt parking spot in the desert N of Van Horn. We should have stayed in the little rv park in van horn instead. Sorry Al, nice try but just not what we expect for the price...

Uthman was a fantastic host. He made sure we had what we needed. We had a isolated spot that our dogs could roam and explore and they had a blast

We were very happy with this campsite. It was large and private, yet close to a 24/7 gas station and store in Plateau for any needs we might have. Uthman met us personally and showed us around the site, and even gave us some complimentary firewood. The site had a table and fire ring just as we needed. Our kids had a blast climbing the hills and exploring the topography. This was a great site and we definitely will come back when in the area!

Al is an awesome host who met me at the gate and guided me to the site. The night sky at his place is incredible, away from city lights. The location's history adds to its charm, perfect for exploring.
What made it even better was making a new friend during my stay. Al creates a friendly atmosphere that enhances the experience.
Overall, Apache Park and Trail offers a peaceful getaway with welcoming hospitality and stunning views. Highly recommend it. Thanks, Al, for the great time!

Al was a fantastic host. We drove in from Tucson and arrived about an hour late due to traffic… he met us at the Exxon and had us follow him about two miles north down his dirt road to the campsite. Very well put together. Had a fire ring, a bench, a table, and a trash can… as well as hundreds of open acres to enjoy the night. Al is an incredible person and I would 100% stay here again. Thanks Al!

Absolutely beautiful is the only way to describe it. Al Uthman really gives you the keys to his kingdom. I hiked all over his land, went shooting, went wheeling in my Jeep (on the trails of course - no need to destroy pristine land!) and just had an absolute blast. I am an avid camper, and of the hundreds of places I have been, this is one of my favorites. The views are of desolate beauty, the sunsets are incredible... nothing like sitting on a hill with a hot cup of tea watching the sun go down. There are friendly cows free ranging the area ( I got to pet a few) and I saw all kinds of neat critters, even a rattlesnake in brumation that came out to sunbathe. A friendly kangaroo rat hung out with me at camp. The last night, a pack of coyotes sang me to sleep maybe 100 yards from my campsite. Al and his son were super friendly and accomodating, and I had zero issues during my stay. The wind does whip through the draws and valleys sometimes, so stake down well and don't leave loose items that could blow away laying around, the land is beautiful and pristine, if you go PLEASE don't litter, I picked up the few trash items I did find from past campers. Just a tremendous breath of fresh air. Thanks to the Uthmans for having me, and come springtime, I will be back!

I never actually found the site. The host did try to contact me early in the morning, but I missed the call. When I attempted to find the site, I did try to call, text, and email but could not get ahold of him. The written instructions gave an exit but then google maps only wanted to take me on to VERY prominently marked "no trespassing" roads.

We ended up arriving right at dusk, but Al was communicating every bit of the way and was waiting when we got there! He gave us a great warm welcome, and cautioned me about the terrain since we arrived in a sedan.
Unfortunately a very windy cold front moved in during the night, but overall I would absolutely camp here again.
TO THOSE USING NAVIGATION APPS: The pin is accurate, but there's a road that goes behind the Exxon that Google Maps thinks isn't drivable, so it will navigate you off early if you're coming from the east like I did. NAVIGATE TO PLATEAU TRUCK STOP, and you'll end up at just the right place. Or just read Al's instructions before you depart 🙂

Al is a great guy and very accommodating. He's there for anything you need. This place is remote and really beautiful. Just what we wanted: silence solitude and darkness. We'll definitely be back when we're coming through the area.

Al was great. He met us at the gate and led us to our campsite. Great views and Privacy. Only a few miles off the interstate. The road in is dirt/gravel but you could easily make it in any vehicle. Def would stay there again

Great place to stay if you're looking for a lively host in the middle of the desert! The closest towns are 30+mins away, but the drive to Carlsbad Caverns was worth it for the scenery and experience.

Perfect spot, highly recommend! This place has great views and is VERY conveniently located. There is 24/7 food and fuel basically on the highway and vast peaceful views at the campsite.
Al was super nice and got us settled in easily. You could spend a week hiking this place alone but we had a short stay since we were planning to hike the Guadalupe peak the following day. Notably, this place we conveniently located near the Guadalupe National Park park, with less than 1.5 hours of drive time.

It was great. Al, the owner of the property is gregarious and kind. The property was clean and conducive to both car and tent camping. It's far enough off of the highway (2 miles) that you forget its there but not far enough that it adds too much time to your trip.

The stay was short and very quickly put together, Uthman worked with me and made it possible. The park is beautiful, I was there in late July, but it was not HOT. It was also not to cold in the evening being in the Desert. I had a front wheel drive Ford Flex, I would recommend a 4WD to anyone else. I should have been more carful with the directions and should have turned left instead of right. Mobile service is spotty, especially when in between hills, ya gotta hike up to the top to get service, but what a beautiful hike. It was the most expensive Birthday I have ever spent on myself.

If remote dispersed camping is what you are looking for, Apache Park is it! Dark skies and clean desert to marvel at. Big sky sunrises and sunsets. The hosts were prompt and accommodating and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Truly special people.

Apache Park is a lovely and safe place to stay, close off Interstate 10. The host, Uthman, is trustworthy and welcoming. He made a nice campfire for us to enjoy under the stars. It was easy to access with our small SUV pulling a trailer, even getting in after dark. We hope to stop there again on our next cross-country trip.

This is a very basic site - just a little flat spot with a great desert view. No amenities, but far enough from the freeway for a quiet night. Exactly what we were seeking. The road in was rough and dusty, but fine for a pickup. Uthman is a friendly, energetic guy who made us feel welcome.

This was an excellent historical place for me and my family to come setup our camp for our private socially distance weekend getaway! The views were spectacular, the trails and hike were family friendly and the location was off the beaten road but easy to access and made us feel very safe and welcomed. We will definitely be coming back in December!
