WELCOME!
NOTE: BURN BAN CURRENTLY OFF
I look forward to meeting you! This is an 2SLGBTQIA all inclusive safe and friendly property to camp on. Anyone is welcome and it is not exclusive to 2SLGBTQIA.
Anidem is Medina Lake spelled backwards. This is a very unique property. I have resided here since 1998. I currently live quietly on-site. It is approximately 10 acres with three acres of usable land. The rest goes down a sheer 100 foot bluff and into the middle of the river. It is on the horseshoe bend of the Medina River before it widens out into Medina Lake.
Spend your days exploring the huge boulders below, sunbathing or hanging out with friends on the giant rocks. This was a Wagon Trail once upon a time and you can see the wagon wheels ruts on the bottom of the river here. At some point they hardened and it makes for a very interesting topography.
There are over 37 different species of birds here. This is a BIRDERS haven!
Deer, Raccoons, Squirrels, Possums, Armadillos, Skunks, Porcupines, Ringtailed cats, Foxes, Frogs and Roadrunners, live here, visit here or travel up from the cliffs nightly. Once in a while you will hear Wild Turkeys and they will land here if it is really quiet.
The views from the property are magnificent. Especially glorious sunrises and sunsets. You can not access the water from the property. It is either a short walk or drive down to a beautiful Pecan bottom where you can access the water. It's a little tricky getting down to the water when the river levels are low, so make sure you have non slip river shoes with you.
There is also a swing set and Barbecue pits there. It is perfect for kayaking or spending the day fishing, floating and relaxing. It is across the river from Sparrow River Retreat.
The property is gated and fenced with 17 security cameras mostly to monitor the wildlife, but for your own protection as well. There are also solar motion lights all over the property to assist you at night. You may also see wildlife as they light them up.
There is a huge picnic table under a stand of big oak trees. in the Prime River View Campsite.
There is a wooden privacy enclosure for your own portable camping toilet. You must bring your own. Riverview Campsite only. The other three campsites will require you to also bring your own personal camping toilets and supplies, in addition to your own pop up privacy tents.
Due to the dangers of the 100 plus feet high cliffs with nothing to break your fall, this property is not safe or appropriate for children under 12 years old.
NO CHILDREN UNDER 12 ALLOWED. Sorry no exceptions.
NO PETS ALLOWED (For the protection of the abundant wildlife that make this property their home)
It is a place to come and recharge your spirit.
There is a strong 5G cellular signal here. No wifi as the idea is to disconnect from the internet to recharge your soul with the Harmony of nature.
If you enjoy wildlife photography, this is a good place for it.
It is generally best to check with Weather Bug app to determine the weather during your stay. Bandera Falls would be the location to check.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy your stay here! The sounds of nature are very healing to the spirit. At night you should sleep soundly listening to the awesome sounds of the river frogs and creatures. It's very soothing.
If you are a birdwatcher, then this is your place! You will enjoy Cardinals, Tit Mice, Black Capped Chickadee, Hummingbirds, Big Blue Scrub Jays, 4 different types of Woodpeckers, Cowbirds, Finches, Sparrows, Wrens, several Dove species, Owls, Painted Buntings, Indigo Buntings, House Finches, Goldfinches, and more.
If you are a Rock Hound, then this is your place! You can find arrowheads, Ancient Sea Bed Fossils, Smooth polished river rock, River Rocks with holes in them. All sorts of striated beautiful rocks.
Down at the river it is a whole different world with Blue and White Herons, Hawks, Ducks and more. Bring your Binoculars and cameras!
It is right across the river from Sparrow Bend River Retreat. We look down over them from a 100 plus foot bluff. You can see the campers and their tents on the river whenever they have guests.
It is a 20 minute drive into Bandera, Texas where you can enjoy deep swimming holes in Beautiful Bandera Park. It is a great place to Kayak or float under the shade of the Big Oak trees. There are plenty of good restaurants, Lowes grocery store, True Value, Tractor Supply, Dollar General, and great shopping with very unique non chain stores. Bandera is the Cowboy Capital of the World. There is much to see and do there.
If you encounter a particularly hot day, duck into the incredible Bandera Natural History Museum. It is so interesting and always cold with air conditioning and is a must see while in Bandera.
It DOES get really hot in this part of Texas, so please be sure and bring your camping fans.
IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ ALL RULES THOROUGHLY BEFORE BOOKING TO MAKE SURE THIS WILL BE THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOU, AS YOU WILL BE CAMPING IN A STATE CERTIFIED WILDLIFE HABITAT. Thank you!
Leave the city behind you. Relax, you are in a safe space. Enjoy your stay!
