Created by legendary automotive engineer, Carroll Shelby, Terlingua Ranch is nearly 200,000 acres nestled between 1.1 millions acres of wilderness in Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Star Haven's expansive vistas afford views of the state park 9 miles southwest, the national park 20 miles southeast and Nine Point Mesa 6 miles due east.  The broad horizons mean unobstructed views for star-gazing and the remote location means the least light pollution you'll find anywhere. After 45 years of leading groups hiking, climbing, rafting, and canoeing the Big Bend, we are glad to share our basecamp with you.

Stars and calm
This is a rustic camping site. But if you don’t kind that. The place is remote, calm, and perfect in spring when I experienced it. As a remote worker and djembe drummer at a beginner level, I could do both without bothering anybody. If one read the directions properly, it’s not that difficult to get to the spot. It is better to arrive by day light the first time. I will definitely return when back in that part of the USA.

This host should update the mileage
Well, we never stayed there, so we can't really review... But... On Google maps it looked to be about 5-6 miles, but when the directions to the site came back, it was 11 miles, so we decided to stay somewhere else that was closer to the road... The exact mileage should be updated so people don't waste time and money...

Camping under the dark skies
The site was great! It was beautiful and so peaceful. We got great pictures of sun rise and spectacular views of sunsets. I believe it was a perfect place to stay outside of Big Bend! Thank you so much for sharing your place with us!! Jerrie Landrum
