Wild Woods Retreat & Farm Greeneville, Tennessee · 30 acres · Creek, forest, ridge Wild Woods is a working farm and licensed tree nursery on 30 acres of creek, wooded ridges, and open pasture in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee. Quieter and less visited than the Smokies to the south. About 90 minutes from Asheville. Two off-grid stays on the property: a geodesic dome at the highest point of the right ridge and a cedar treehouse feet from the creek. Both are available to book separately. The land includes: - Three creek beaches: Otter Beach, Elder Cove (shaded by box elders), and Bottled Bay, where guests hang bottled wishes in the trees. - A hiking trail loop reaching 1,161 feet across both ridges. - A Sit Spot Network of 42 hand-built benches distributed through the hardwoods, not mapped, found. - A pasture with free-range chickens, a walipini, a sunflower forest, and a fire pit ringed by stumps pulled from the land (one came out heart-shaped). Gardens, a young orchard, and native plants throughout. Wildlife: A resident river otter named Olivia downstream. A gray heron pair on the creek most mornings. Deer at dusk. Wild turkeys, bunnies, squirrels, and buzzards riding thermals above the ridge. Crawdads and tiny fish in the creek. Coyotes across the holler at night that sound closer than they are. Tree canopy: Cedars, black walnuts, oaks, hemlocks, sassafras, maples, redbud, honey locust, elm, and ash. Classic Appalachian hardwood mix. No fires in the woods. Gas fire table at Orion. Wood fire pit at Otter Beach.

Off-Grid Creek Treehouse for Two · Fire, Hammock

Treehouse · Sleeps 2 · 1 bedroom · 2 beds · 1 toilet
Otter Beach is an off-grid, screened treehouse gazebo tucked feet from the creek at Wild Woods Retreat, a 30-acre working farm in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee. A hand-dug stone path lit by solar lights leads you down from the pasture to the deck. Swoosh back the netting, kick off your shoes, and let the creek do the rest. This is camping, just the comfortable kind: a hammock under the trees (450 lb limit), a fire pit right at the water's edge, and two cots dressed in soft linens with mosquito netting if you want it. This is a genuinely rustic stay, and we want you to know exactly what that means: there's no electricity, no shower, and no flush toilet. A port-a-potty is a short walk away, and we provide a cooler in place of a fridge. WiFi comes from a mesh network off our Starlink connection and is usually workable (best on AT&T; a family member on Verizon couldn't get a signal) but not guaranteed. There's a picnic table where the signal is strongest if you need to get online. You're on 30 acres and welcome to roam all of it except the barn and geodesic dome. The creek, pasture, and wooded hills with sit spot benches are all yours to explore, marked at the property line by barbed wire. Expect farm sounds (tractors, the occasional truck), a family of otters downstream (please don't disturb them), deer and wild turkey in the pasture, and yes — snakes, spiders, and bugs. You're in nature. As the season's greenery fills in, the treehouse becomes increasingly private from the road across the creek. We provide a French press, coffee, and basic dining ware, plus a charcoal grill and s'mores sticks for the fire pit (fires in the pit only, fully extinguished before bed. Quiet hours run 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Parking is in the pasture, weather and vehicle dependent. If it's wet or you don't have 4WD, park at the entrance and we'll help with your bags. This stay is intended for two responsible adults; it isn't well suited to children. Leashed pets are welcome. We share the farm with four dogs, two cats, and a flock of free-ranging chickens. Otter Beach is one of two unique stays at Wild Woods Retreat & Farm. Orion, our off-grid geodesic dome, is the other, just across the property. Self check-in, no in-person meeting required.

Orion Off-Grid Geodesic Dome

Dome · Sleeps 2 · 1 bedroom · 2 beds · 1 toilet
Orion is a genuinely off-grid geodesic dome for guests who want real quiet, real stars, and a real break from their phone, not a luxury cabin with a nature theme. Set a quarter-mile into the woods at Wild Woods Retreat, a 30-acre working tree nursery and native plant farm, Orion runs on solar power, has no WiFi or TV, and looks straight up at the night sky through stargazer panels from the loft bed. Best for guests who want simplicity and privacy over convenience. Important: you must arrive before sunset. The woods are dark, and we'll walk you through the off-grid systems in person. Sleeping: a king mattress with topper in the loft (reached by ladder. The loft is tall enough to sit in, not stand), plus a queen sleeper sofa on the main floor. This listing sleeps 2 guests. The bathroom is enclosed with a chemical toilet, and a private outdoor rainwater shower with instant hot water sits just steps from the deck. Cooking is outdoors on a gas grill with a covered prep area; we provide one gallon of drinking water per guest per day and a cooler with one bag of ice (bring your own ice after that). Outside: a deck with a propane fire table, a small coffee porch, and quiet sit-spot benches scattered through the surrounding woods and creek. In winter, a propane buddy heater keeps the dome warm. Guests often turn it off because it works that well. In summer, it runs hot with only fans, screens, and a shade sail. Getting here: park in the wood-chip lot, and we'll bring you and your luggage up by UTV on the quarter-mile path for a quick orientation. The wood chip "lane" is mostly flat, with one short incline. Not ADA accessible; comfortable footwear recommended. This is a quiet retreat. No parties, events, or wood fires, please.
