Welcome to SHEEPovers™ at Valais Hideaway — the only place where your camping neighbors may literally be sheep. 🐑😂 Located in the rolling hills of Upstate New York, our farm offers peaceful campsites, wooded trails, fishing, campfires, stargazing, outdoor pizza nights, outdoor movie nights, and enough fluffy livestock to make your therapist say, “Honestly? This might help.” Our famous SHEEPovers™ experience allows brave and adventurous campers to sleep directly INSIDE the sheep pasture alongside our rare Valais Blacknose sheep — widely recognized as “the cutest sheep in the world” and completely unaware of personal boundaries. These sheep are friendly, curious, and emotionally committed to knowing what you’re doing at all times. You may wake up to: - tiny sheep snores nearby - suspicious sheep staring at your tent - unexpected morning sniff inspections - a sheep silently judging your life choices at sunrise - Pippin demanding scritches like a wool-covered union boss Don’t worry — the goats sleep elsewhere during SHEEPovers™ stays because while we love them deeply, goats operate somewhere between: “chaotic toddler” and “small caffeinated raccoon.” Spend your evenings making homemade pizzas in our outdoor pizza oven with our ready-to-cook pizza kits, relaxing around the campfire, fishing at the pond, enjoying an outdoor movie, exploring the woods, or sitting under the stars questioning how your vacation somehow turned into a sleepover hosted by sheep. And honestly? You’ll probably never want to leave. A few important notes: This is a REAL farm. The sheep may approach your campsite. They may stare at you. We do not know why they stare. If you open your tent for cuddles, that is now between you and the sheep. Nearby Chenango Lake offers additional fishing, boating, and outdoor recreation... But let’s be honest… you’re probably here for the sheep. SHEEPovers™ are designed for fun, easygoing animal lovers who understand that farm life is wonderfully unpredictable, occasionally ridiculous, and significantly improved by excessive amounts of fluff. 🌲 Pick Your Plot Camping At Valais Hideaway, your campsite is wherever your adventurous little heart decides it should be. 🏕️✨ Aside from our premium reserved campsites, (including our in-pasture SHEEPovers™ campsite and Pondside Sheep Camp) Pick-Your-Plot guests are welcome to choose from peaceful wooded clearings, open grassy spaces, and other available areas throughout the property surrounded by beautiful Upstate New York countryside. 🐑✨ Our 8-acre property is designed for explorers, wanderers, nature lovers, and anyone whose nervous system desperately needs a break from notifications. 😂 When you arrive, we’re happy to give one guest in your party an ATV tour of the property to help you scout out some favorite camping spots — or feel free to wander and choose your own perfect little hideaway. We simply ask that you let us know where you settle in so we know where to find you in case of emergency (or if a sheep files a missing persons report). While we do not currently have designated Pick-Your-Plot campsites, many guests enjoy the freedom of creating their own cozy setup exactly where they’d like it. If your chosen spot needs a little freshening up, you’re welcome to borrow rakes or a shovel — just send us a quick text and we’ll do our best to help. Small campers are welcome in designated areas, though please note that we currently do not offer RV hookups. A community compost toilet is available in a centrally located outhouse on the property, and a property map will be provided via email or at check-in for your convenience. As part of our “leave no trace” philosophy, guests are responsible for properly disposing of compost toilet bags after each use and removing all trash from the property upon checkout. Guests are also welcome to bring their own compost toilet setup if preferred. Whether you’re here to unplug beside the pond, explore the woods, stargaze by the fire, meet the animals, or simply experience the kind of quiet that’s getting harder and harder to find these days… we’re happy you found us. 🐑✨

Staying at Valais Dream Ranch and Retreat was so much fun! Lolly and Eric were incredibly nice and provided everything we needed (besides our tent), including a compostable toilet, with TP and sani wipes. The camping location was right by the pond and the stars were amazing. A fire pit, and firepit essentials with a bundle of fire wood was also provided. The best part was cuddling with the farm animals! The sheep are adorable and the goats are so sweet! The dogs are cuddly, as well as the donkey! We had so much fun. Lolly is the sweetest, and took pictures of us with the animals and then sent them to me. Eric provided us treats for the sheep and after that the sheep were our best friends. lol. We loved every minute of our stay.

I loved staying at the pond view plot she has available it was beautiful and amazing me and my fiancé had a wonderful time. The animals were amazing. So loving, sweet, and kind. It was a wonderful experience all around. The owner is so kind and generous. The property is beautiful. The pond is lovely. There’s many spots with a beautiful view. It was a great experience having the animals come up and say hello to us at our site. The baby animals were so cute. We loved getting pictures taken holding baby sheep and a baby goat. The animals are all so happy and healthy. Highly recommend this place. Will definitely be back for our honeymoon!

Pick Your Plot Camping
I'm not even sure where to start on how awesome this camping experience was for me! Wait, yes, I do - BABY LAMBS. I repeat, baby lambs! It was so much fun to learn about the breed dubbed "the cutest lambs on earth" and they are so friendly. I held one for a while and he's just happy to here. Not to mention the variety of other farm friends like a mini donkey, goats, chickens and the like. As for the campsite, I chose to set up my tent on the wooden deck overlooking the pond. Lolly & Eric supplied a nice-sized fire pit with two grill attachments and there's a pop-up potty with a compost toilet. It was a beautiful spot and so peaceful. The stars at night sparkle and I fell asleep listening to the trees rustling. Keep in mind - the campsite is next to a heavily wooden area so bring your bug spray as there are ticks, mosquitos, etc. Also at night, there are guard dogs doing their job and you'll hear them. It didn't bother me because I enjoyed knowing the pups were on patrol and keeping out any unwanted visitors.
