1302 Greer Branch Rd, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680 ----Amenities---- - Glamping Dome Tent set in a butterfly preserve at the back of our farm, with breathtaking mountain views! - Queen bed, blankets, 2 pillows - HEAT in the dome via indoor-safe propane heater -air conditioning in the warmer months -Gas griddle -Solar power battery (for charging your devices, powering the lights, etc) -Outhouse -Outdoor shower -Basic kitchen & bath supplies Towels (kitchen & bath) Silverware Paper plates and cups Mugs Tea pot and french press Some cooking utensils and pots/pans Lighters feminine hygiene products Bug spray, bear spray -Outdoor Hot shower! ----NOT CURRENTLY PROVIDED---- -Firewood (available at local dollar store 5 minutes away) -Ice -BYOB ----RULES AND THINGS TO BE AWARE OF---- This is a smoke free facility. NO SMOKING indoors or outdoors!!! -This glamping site is unfortunately NOT adequate for handicap accessibility, as it is on a slope with steps and some uneven ground. It is also not suitable for long vehicles, such as towing big trailers, or RVs/campers. Single cars, trucks, vans or SUVs only, at a 2 vehicle maximum, please. -No disruptive behavior, such as loud music, big parties, heavy drinking, or use of substances. This is a quiet, rustic retreat on a family farm designed to reconnect with nature and find peace. -No littering -Do not feed the wildlife OR the farm animals (except if participating in provided petting zoo) -Never let pets off leash. Tie out is provided near the dome. ----Activities---- - On the farm: Nature trails, animal feeding experience, telescope rental, canoe rental (for lake 40 minutes away). Seasonal produce picking. -Nearby: Gentry Creek Falls, Wataugua Lake, Damascus VA and the Creeper Trail, Doe Mountain Recreation, Skydiving, Fishing & hunting, horseback riding, local eateries and coffee shops....the list goes on! You may wish to interact with our farm menagerie during your stay. We have supplied a self-service animal feed dispenser by the "barnyard" sign, just beside our tiny house. Feel free to come down between 9AM-8PM to give chickens, geese, ducks, and possibly the goats some treats. NO PETS ALLOWED TO BE WITH YOU WHEN YOU FEED THE ANIMALS, please! Feed is available by donation. Note: Only feed the provided treats, do not feed anything else! Please do not exceed two refills per person! Be aware that animals can bite, kick, scratch, bonk, and poo. You are your own responsibility when interacting with the animals! ----CHECK-IN INSTRUCTIONS---- -Drive up to our farm gate and TAKE THE GUEST FOLDER from the box, clearly marked. Don't mind the barking of our big white livestock guardian dogs from within the nearby pastures, they are just doing their job. Open the gate and CLOSE IT behind you, please :) -Follow driveway up to the top of the hill. Please do not allow any pets out of your vehicle down at our farmyard. Be careful as you pass through this area as we do have children and livestock possibly crossing the road. -Park wherever you feel your vehicle can best manage the sloped driveway. -Open the dome's zipper door and let it air out. Follow the guest folder's instructions for further climate control needs. There will be most of the information you need in the guest folder, as well as in pamphlets and notes around the site. You can also contact us at any time, but the WIFI is sometimes spotty, so it may be necessary to come knock on our door for additional inquiries. (Don't be shy! While we will not invade your privacy, we always enjoy meeting our guests, and will gladly help any way we can). While the dome stays nice and cozy with the propane heater, the outdoor shower unfortunately has no heat and can break from freezing pipes. It opens again in late March. (We are sorry, but we cannot permit dogs. We have farm dogs on our property who are trained to protect our livestock from coyotes and other mountain wildlife. They are super friendly to humans, but may become defensive with strange dogs)

Fell in Love here!
The North Star Dome
We had a wonderful stay at the Compass Rose! Temps were down in the 30s but we stayed toasty warm with the propane heater and were very comfortable. The doggies were very sweet and well behaved and Eva was a kind and gracious host. 10/10 would recommend!

Amazing place! Didn't get to explore much because we got in late but we got lucky with a very clear sky. So many stars! Very detailed directions and clear communication with the hosts. Will be returning.

The North Star Dome
Zack and Eva truly have a little piece of heaven and I am thankful to have enjoyed a good night's rest. The greated me warmly and made me feel right at home. The weather turned a bit cold and I wasn't prepared, however, I stayed cozy and comfortable. With the rain I wasn't able to enjoy the animals as I would have liked. Charlie, Compass and Leia are very sweet and made me feel very safe.

The North Star Dome
We were excited to stay at this camping dome, but unfortunately, it did not fully meet expectations based on the listed amenities. First, several essential items were missing or unusable. There were no sheets on the bed—only throw blankets—so we had to adjust accordingly. The provided lighters were all empty, the dome heater had no propane, and the s’mores kit was unusable, as it was full of dirt with open packaging. The outhouse situation was also disappointing. Upon arrival, the bucket was already full, and when we checked the other buckets nearby, we found they were also used. This was not ideal for a fresh and comfortable experience. Additionally, the property’s two dogs were constantly present whenever food was out, making it difficult to eat or leave anything unattended. They also got into any trash left behind, requiring extra vigilance. While we love animals, the excessive barking from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM made it hard to relax in the evening. This place has potential, and with better upkeep and more accurate amenity listings, it could be a great stay. However, based on our experience, it didn’t quite live up to what was advertised.

Awestruck by the Views!
The North Star Dome
I absolutely loved the experience! Beautiful décor, adorable animals, and breathtaking views (both day and night). The only con is that this spot might not be for you if you’re afraid of spiders. I counted at least 5 big ones inside the dome, and I got a little bit on edge. They never bothered us though! 100% worth it and would recommend.

The North Star Dome
The dome was a lovely place to stay while adventuring in the Virginia Highlands! Quick and easy access to Damascus. Eva welcomed us warmly to their property and made sure we had everything we needed to get settled. Wonderful views surrounded by forest and loads of fireflies. A great outdoor escape while traveling in the area!

Private, peaceful, beautiful! It’s is quite hot at camp in the day - bring a pop up tent for shade! Evenings are glorious - stars are beautiful. This was a special experience for our daughters 7th birthday.

The North Star Dome
Wow! What a beautiful site! The dome looks exactly like the pictures. We had rainy weather (which is still amazing), but the views on a clear day from inside the dome would be just spectacular. If you're looking for a completely unique and off-grid experience, this is it! Zach and Eva were super nice and my daughter loved seeing the dogs, chickens, geese, rabbits, etc.
