Nestled along the historic New Madrid fault line, our campground offers a unique experience steeped in natural beauty and rich history. The area is renowned for the remarkable geological events of the winter of 1811-1812, when a series of powerful earthquakes caused the Mississippi River to flow backward for up to 24 hours. This seismic activity led to the creation of Reelfoot Lake, a stunning natural feature where visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, and birdwatching, with the echoes of history resonating in the landscape. The name "Reelfoot" is derived from a legend about a 19th-century Chickasaw Indian chief who bore the name due to a deformed foot. His tale of defiance against the Great Spirit, which involved stealing a bride from a neighboring tribe, is said to have triggered the earthquakes that formed the lake, adding a layer of intrigue to your visit. Our family-owned and operated resort, purchased by Bill and Candy Curlin in 1986, is situated at the northern end of Reelfoot Lake, in the Upper Blue Basin. In 2000, we expanded our offerings by acquiring Ray's Camp near Keystone Park, which we renamed Sportsman's South, located in the Lower Blue Basin. Our campground provides a perfect blend
