Shoestring Creek Campground

Rhonda was an excellent host!! There was a snowstorm headed our way, and she kept us updated with the changing conditions and even gave us a refund when we decided to head home early due to the storm. The property is secluded and quiet. We would definitely stay here again

We really enjoyed our stay at Rhonda’s land! The spot was peaceful, surrounded by nature, and gave us a real sense of adventure. It’s a great place if you like being outdoors and don’t mind a bit of a rustic experience. Definitely recommend for campers who enjoy exploring and a touch of adventure — but if you prefer everything perfectly polished, this might not be your style.

We enjoyed our stay at Rhonda’s! Super accommodating and checked up on us periodically. If you’re looking to explore The Great Smoky Mountains / Gattlinburg area, only a 45-50 minute drive and super easy. It was super secluded and private, bathhouse was a short walk in the mornings and very clean. When we come back to Tennessee I’m definitely booking here again!

My daughter loved the privacy we had an how well the cabin was outfitted. We enjoyed laying in our hammocks and building a fire in the fire pit.

The dogwood cabin is a great place to stay if you want a little upgrade from tent camping. The land is beautiful and only a 20 minute drive from some great hiking.

Get back in nature & unwind.

So secluded, peaceful, and relaxing being in those mountains surrounded by nature! A bit off the beaten path but exactly what I was looking for, to unwind, gain a few days of rest and relaxation in nothing but beautiful nature all surrounding. Close to the interstate and less than an hour out from anything and everything you desire to do entertainment or eating wise. A great trip for me! I always keep my tent/camping gear in my truck but had cleaned it out before this trip. Fall setting in and my only regret was I didn’t have my sleeping bag. A little cool in the mountains in early October so remember that. I had sheets and some light clothing. Sure MS Rhonda could have provided a quilt or blanket if I requested but I’m a bit hot natured so the cooler sleep was a great comfort to me, very secluded and relaxing stay. I’d go again and stay tomorrow if I could! MS Rhonda was an excellent host for me. Very responsive even though she was busy w/her normal affairs, gave good precise directions as well. You need a great secluded stay to get away and unwind? THIS IS IT! :-) Office is kind of in the bottom so no cell service there but turn in road, top of the hill, to make the final approach to Shoestring had service and my cabin “Bambi” up a slight hill and had service there as well. While you visiting Shoestring, don’t need that cell anyway, PUT IT AWAY! Relax & Rewind in Secluded Shoestring, IT WAS GREAT! Very beautiful as well. :-)

Sunflower Stay in October

My family had a great time staying in the Sunflower cabin - it felt truly remote, and the simple cabin made for easier storage and added comfort. The bathrooms, water spigot, and firewood buckets were also a huge plus to make camping more comfortable. Rhonda was a very kind and accommodating renter, and easy to get ahold of (when you have cell reception!) We definitely want to come back for another weekend, and with friends :)

Beautiful site in the forests near the Smoky Mountains. Our cabin was a great place to stay, especially with unpredictable weather in the area. Cabin was clean with good furniture inside for use and storage. Campground had lots of privacy away from some of the busier campgrounds and lodging in the area. Bathhouse was clean, well-outfitted, and a nice amenity to have for our trip.

If you are wanting a place to truly unplug, this is it! Absolutely no cell and internet service. Had a friendly visitor that my son came face to face with but that is to be expected since we are in the woods. The thermal shower was definitely cold lol. Nice to have a flushable toilet. I had booked the Bambi for the specific reason of having the sunlight hit the front porch (according to photos) but was told we would be in Moma bear but it worked out fine since we were the closest to the bathroom. The only downside is that there was no one in the office every time we went by. We were told when we checked in to call if we needed anything and I did state multiple times we had absolutely no service. We were told that there was an air horn in cabin for bears but there wasn’t. We scared bear off when everyone was yelling to warn each other about it. We would definitely go back.

Our cabin was the perfect retreat for our one night stay. The washrooms were a short hike and very welcomed. We did not use the shower. Overall we had a nice stay!

Beautiful location and easy to navigate. Peaceful and the cabin kept us nice and dry for the rain storm. I made a little wood burned sunflower art piece for Rhonda and the cabin. I can’t wait to come back again!!!

They were excellent hosts to me and my family. I love the family owned aspect. And all the instructions were clear on how to have a safe and fun trip. We got stuck in their driveway getting firewood (be careful if you dont have 4 wheel drive) but they helped us out which is above and beyond expectations. The Bambi campsite was adorable and there's plenty of room to put up a tent outside if you'd like extra space. If you're looking for a semi secluded cabin, the bambi is the spot. We will definitely be staying with them again.🥰🥰🥰

Very private cabins in a beautiful woods at a great price near the Smokies. Much needed during a summer week with intermittent rain storms. They were out of water when we were there so no flush toilets the first day and then still no shower or running water in sink. The owners are very friendly and available throughout your stay. The little camp store has goods that are best to pick up when you arrive.

Amazing primitive cabin site

Wonderful place! Very beautiful and comfortable stay. We did have a run in with a very large wolf spider inside though, so spider spray recommended. 😁

Look no further!

This place made our time in the Smokies so magical! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Bambie cabin and it was so peaceful and serene. You really do feel like you have the whole woods to yourself. Rhonda and Roberta were wonderful and so helpful and kind. Rhonda even gave us a ride up to our cabin one rainy night when we were nervous that our low-clearance sedan might have trouble. Things to bring: extra linens because it can get pretty cold at night! We had two extra comforters in our car and ended up using both. Also, bring ample light options! We used all the lanterns and flashlights/headlamps we had. It gets really dark inside, as another reviewer mentioned. You can tell that a lot of love and care has been poured into this campground and that they really want you to have a positive experience. Overall a really beautiful time that amplified the quality of our trip. 💜

My girlfriend and I loved the Bambi cabin at Shoestring Creek. Rhonda and Roberta are amazing and very accommodating. Very quiet, tucked away, and peaceful. Do yourself a favor and go spend some time at Shoestring Creek Will be back!

We really enjoyed the seclusion and the starry sky. It's so much better than an RV city. We really would have liked to use the firepit, since it was so beautiful outside, but due to an area wide burn ban, it wasn't possible. We will be back, to hike more of the many nearby trails.

Absolutely wonderful! This was my very first time using HipCamp but after looking for a while we finally settled on these cute cabins. We stayed in Mama Bear cabin and had so much fun. The first night there we found salamanders, frogs, toads and heard a few wolves howling around the cabin. We ended up leaving a day early, disappointed that we didn’t make time to explore the woods more. The drive to the office is extremely fun. You don’t need a 4x4 but you should take it slow and cautious. Keeping this spot in my favorites as I plan to make more trips to Tennessee and this will be my go to.

I can't recommend this site enough. It was very secluded, which is exactly what I was looking for. Our hosts were amazing and super accommodating. You can buy 5 gallon buckets of firewood, but you can also use any downed wood on the property. I had a family emergency while there are Rhonda was so understanding and even checked on me while I was gone. If you enjoy primitive camping, do yourself a favor and book a site at Shoestring Creek Campground. I can't wait to go back.

Very nice and quiet little cabins. You can still hear the birds and bugs chirping at night. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.
