Definition of Perfect
20 ft pop-up camper
Incredible camping location. Hannah and Andy were so incredibly nice and the site was no different. We appreciated how large it was, how they had some kayaks for us to use, and even let us fish in their stock pond for some dinner. We had such an amazing weekend and I would definitely stay here again.

We honestly didn’t realize how badly we needed a place like this until we got here. From the moment we arrived, we were completely overwhelmed by how beautiful and peaceful the property was. The pictures truly don’t do it justice.
Being right on the river, surrounded by trees and mountains, listening to the water all day, sitting by the fire at night under the string lights, and waking up to that view was incredibly relaxing. We spent so much time just sitting outside, watching the river, letting our dog enjoy the property, and actually slowing down for once.
There’s something special about this place. It didn’t just feel like somewhere we rented for a few days; it felt like an escape from everything. We came here expecting a nice getaway and left realizing it was exactly the reset we didn’t know we needed.
If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, private, beautiful, and genuinely relaxing, this is it. We absolutely loved our stay and already miss sitting by that river. We would come back without hesitation. 5 stars, easily.

Great location in Smokey Mountains!

Hannah and her husband Andy were extremely accommodating to our requests and went above and beyond with providing firewood, river toys, and even fish food for their stocked pond. The site felt very private and the access to the river was amazing. I would love to stay at their Hip Camp again, and highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Such a great spot for a weekend getaway. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The spot was perfectly situated right on the river, which was great for floating and kayaking. They provided chairs, tables, campfire ring, grill, tubes, life vests, stocked trout pond, and two kayaks! Couldn’t ask for a better spot. Already planning a trip in the fall!

Sarah’s land is amazing!! The river is deep and there’s plenty of fun rapids to play in. Also some really relaxing beach spots. Could not recommend it enough and excited to go back!

My #1
If I could give River Refuge more than five stars I would. It has hit #1 on my list for so many reasons. The hosts are amazing, the site is breathtaking and the amenities provided exceeds any I’ve ever experienced. They put a lot of effort into giving their guests a lovely experience. If you are wanting a place to connect spiritually, detox mentally then this is the place.! The energy on this land is nothing other than peace. We did find a homeless kitten that totally stole our hearts and the property owners have welcomed him in to their family. (Pictures provided for cuteness). Site is private and filled with sounds of nature. A few jets flew over but brought back good memories of the years we lived on the air force base. Next warm weather visit I will be bringing the kayaks as I was informed by a few fishermen that there is a place to drop in just up the river next to a park. Plenty of trees for hammocks and a nice large fire pit if you prefer cooking over a fire.

Very beautiful area. Loved the river sounds. Bed was comfortable and having air conditioning a flushing toilet and hot shower is a huge plus. I’ve camped all my life and now that I am in my 60’s glamping is the way to go. Thank you Hannah for all the extras. ( coffee and cups, cooking utensils, plates and forks ). Will definitely recommend.

The perfect gals getaway
River Refuge was an amazing location for our gals trip. The perfect in-between for those who want to feel enveloped in nature but also have the option for creature comforts. The yurt is so roomy but cozy, the platform has so many unlisted amenities (we totally over packed!) And the fire pit and river space feel secluded and offer stunning views.
My friends got their hot shower and I got to swim with geese, heron and enjoy watching the mist roll off the mountains from my perch in the middle of the river rapids.
Wonderfully located between Gatlinburg and the Cherokee mountains for tourist fun and hiking access.
Everybody wins, we will be back for sure!

spring break camping trip!

this was the most lovely campsite ever. Hannah had every amenity you could’ve needed for a comfortable stay. the tent is very big and slept 4 of us comfortably. had outlets shower stuff fridge sink and lights that made the experience seamless. the views are amazing and the sound of the river at night is great. i will definitely be staying here again.

Perfect getaway right on the river. Loved the sounds of the white rapids that smooths out and becomes calm right in front of the camp. Site had everything we needed. Coffee machine for the mornings and firewood for our sunset fires. Site felt private. Hannah and Andy were amazing hosts. We can’t wait to come back in the summer.

One of a kind place to stay
Hannah and Andy are the nicest hosts and have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. The site is secluded, peaceful, and truly one of a kind.
The amenities make it a perfect year-round place to stay for both campers and non-campers alike, and the pictures do not do it justice.
The location is very close to some great hikes, waterfalls, scenic drives and overlooks, and local coffee shops.
We will certainly be staying again!

Time to unwind
What a great location! Hannah and Andy have a special place. We appreciated the feeling of camping but without having to take everything. They provided fire starter supplies, cutlery (if you forget yours) spatulas for the blackstone, towels for the shower, & coffee.
They’re on an amazing spot of the river - shallow and deep spots. Bring a snorkeling mask to float and watch all the wonders to be found in the river or test your fishing skills.
Their site is very close to Carver’s Apple Orchard (a fave spot of ours) & a nice drive to Gatlinburg. The location is close to I-40 so you can also hop over to Asheville for the day if you want.
At night you will hear some traffic from I-40, but this is not going to ruin the trip. Take advantage of the fire pit or sit down by the waters edge and catch the Starlink Satellite train going over. (We had an amazing view of it our first night there.)

Loved the sounds of the River

This was a great spot on the River. There were a lot of extras that Hannah and Andy the hosts included. Air conditioning in the tent, fan on the porch, firewood and kindling provided along with campfire skewers , fishing rod and tackle box, towels and linens provided. . You can swim in the river! Tent was clean and the platform had lots of extra room to store things out of the rain.

Stunning!
This spot is absolutely amazing! There are so many amenities to make it feel like home, and the land is gorgeous. We were able to go fishing and tubing in the river and there were several activities within driving distance. Highly recommend and thank you to Hannah for being such a welcoming host!
