Little Bone Cave campground is in the mountains of Tennessee with hiking trails and a beautiful view located on 16 acres. This campground adjoins Bone Cave State Natural Area located in Van Buren County. Big Bone Cave is a 400 acre natural area with trails and a cave that contained bones of a giant ground sloth discovered in 1811 and is maintained by Rock Island State Park. The cave is not currently open to the public. Rock Island State Park (swimming, fishing and hiking) is only 6 miles from the campground and Fall Creek Falls State Park (swimming, fishing, hiking and home of the Annual Mountaineer Folk Festival) is a beautiful 25 mile drive through the winding roads and mountains of Van Buren county. A public boat ramp maintained by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is two miles away to access the Caney Fork River. Come enjoy with friends and family. Campsite #1, "Valley View" is a Rv with 30 amp electric with sewer and water or it can be a primitive campsite that is a wide open space and is approximately 1-2 acres with a beautiful view overlooking the valley below. We do have electric, sewer and water 340 gl tank with a hose, a picnic table and a fire ring at this site. if you'd prefer, you can locate a spot of your choosing off the beaten path anywhere within our 16 acres (ask the hostess for details). We now have rv hook up with a 30 amp electric service, sewer and water available. We have wildlife such as bobcats, coyotes, deer, owls, snakes, turkeys and rumor has it, maybe even a bigfoot. This space is a wide open space for a large rv or any size tent. approximately 1-2 acres field with some gravel on 16+ ac. A beautiful view overlooking the valley of mountains below. We have a picnic table and a fire ring with four nice chairs. This site has a grill. If you'd prefer, you can locate a spot of your choosing off the beaten path more primitive campsite away from the valley view. *A new addition campsite will be coming in March 2025 ( It will be added to Hipcamp called Butterflies and Fireflies of Rock Island. This is a 14x24 A-Frame on a 24x24 foot deck and will be on the far end of the property. This will be for a more glamping experience and will also have a nice outhouse with a solar outside shower house off the deck. (ask the hostess for more info). We have wildlife such as rattle snakes,, copperhead, bobcats, coyotes, deer, owls, turkeys and rumor has it, maybe even a bigfoot.  I hope you come enjoy friends, family and nature to make this an incredible experience. (Please bring bug spray as this is country life and we have little critters)We also are a laid back campground slowly improving for future other campsites with privacy. If you need to come early and we don’t have campers the night before or we get the site cleaned it’s ok to do so free of charge just ask.

Melissa’s land is a slice of paradise! The campsite had many options for entertainment including many chairs, a grill, a large fire pit, two hammocks and more! The host was very welcoming and the view was out-of-this-world gorgeous. My only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer!

Stunning, beautiful, amazing don't even describe the view here! Its a wide open area with a fire pit in the idle of Adirondack chairs. If we're ever in the area again, we WILL stay here! 10/10

This is one of those places that has that rare combination of easy access, privacy, a stunning view and hookups so you don’t have to boondock. Not only that, you can set up your rig just about anywhere on the site depending on your needs or preferences and the lengths of your hoses and power cable. There are two metal fire rings, with one well suited for cooking if that’s what you’re in to. Around the other fire ring are six, comfortable Adirondack style chairs. Two hammocks were set up nearby. There is an outhouse on the western edge of the site. We didn’t need to use it, but I checked it out and it is clean and well kept. Don’t be afraid to use it if you need to. There’s also a spiral bound notebook and pen so you can enter comments and read what others have said if you want. You can gather firewood on site, but I’d really recommend you bring your own, either locally sourced or kiln dried so invasive pests aren’t inadvertently brought to the site. The water pressure on the site was a bit low, (~ 20psi) so we chose to fill our fresh water tank and use our rig’s pump for better pressure. Melissa is a great host and obviously takes pride in maintaining her site. I’d 100% recommend this little slice of paradise for anyone wanting to escape the crowds, find solitude, enjoy dark skies and the sounds of crickets at night, and all without having to navigate bumpy dirt roads. Oh… one other thing. Bigfoot saw me but nobody believed him.

A bugs life ;~}

We recently stayed 4 days at this campsite. The location was peaceful with stunning views of the mountains. The site was very clean and well kept. It also made a great base camp for exploring nearby attractions. It’s just a short drive to Twin Falls and not far from Fall Creek Falls, which were both absolutely amazing and worth the trip. And just a short walk to Bone Cave Trail. The only downside was the overwhelming number of stink bugs around the campsite and even inside, which made relaxing a bit difficult. Overall, the area is beautiful, but be prepared for the bugs. This is probably a seasonal issue and definitely nothing to do with the property at all. But not to worry a ton of them traveled all the way back to Alabama with us just in case we hadn’t had enough there. I would definitely recommend this site for anyone wanting to get away and enjoy nature!

My first time to use Hipcamp. I typically stay in back country sites but wanted to do a trip with family and was incredibly impressed with the site. It is close to Rock Island State Park and is spacious with terrific views. You have the site all to yourself and it includes water, power, hammocks and a fire pit as well as an outhouse. I highly recommend it, a great experience.

This is a spacious and well kept campsite with beautiful views! I booked short notice after I had no confirmation from original plans(not Hipcamp) Melissa responded quickly! Such a great find! Great communication and very welcoming. My dog was sad to leave.

We booked this campsite last minute for a birthday, and it honestly felt like such a gift. The pictures showed a pretty view, but when we pulled in we realized we had an entire field to ourselves. The kids and our dog took off running, there was even a volleyball net waiting for us, and it felt like we’d stumbled on our own little slice of paradise. At night we built a fire on the mountainside and watched the sky come alive. It was so quiet and peaceful- I even saw a few shooting stars. The site had everything we needed: water, electric, a grill, a firepit, and the cleanest full stock outhouse we’ve ever seen. The host and her kids delivered firewood right to us, which made it feel even more special. There is a road behind the campsite, but you really can’t see the tent from it, and in two nights we only heard maybe two cars. Just be on the look out for seed ticks after going on the trails there. It does feel tucked away, so make sure to grab anything you need on the way in (the nearest gas station/grocery is about 20 minutes and Dollar General about 30). The bonus is that there’s so much nearby to explore. We spent a day at Fall Creek Falls and swam in the cascades for the first time -it was amazing. Rock Island is close too, though we’ll save that for next time. This place really is a hidden gem, the kind of spot you don’t forget. We left already talking about when we’ll be back.

This our #1 favorite spot! We celebrated a birthday with friends and family. The host is gracious, communicates / responds quickly and continues to make improvements. Pictures do not do the sight justice.

We planned a week at the camp and found everything better than expected. Normally we have to bring in our own water, which we did, but there's already potable water on site. There is an out house available also. We brought in our fishing boat to go fishing from one of the public ramps and had planned to recharge the battery for the fish finder elsewhere. Fortunately, there is already electric on site so we just recharged there. I wouldn't hesitate to camp here again.

Lovely piece of land with a spectacular view! My pup and I enjoyed roaming the campsite and the bone cave natural area. This was my first time tent camping with a water spigot, so that was very nice and, of course, the outhouse was great. We did see about 6-7 cars pass by- I expected less due to other reviews, but it was a Friday night, so perhaps that’s why more people were out. Overall, this was a lovely spot for a quick getaway! We throughly enjoyed our stay.

Everything you could want!

Absolutely stunning place to set up camp! There is a hammock, large fire pit, separate fire pit with cooking grate, and a big picnic table. You’ll find yourself in a large clearing with tall trees on either side, a beautiful overlook in front of you, and a quiet road a little ways behind you. Everything was so easy and clean. The outhouse was fantastic and clean. Stocked with all of your bathroom needs. Don’t forget to sign the guest journal hanging in the outhouse! I used the power and water hookups and they were perfectly placed and easy to use. The space was secluded enough to not hear much other than birds and the occasional cow. Very low car traffic on the road. Within a short drive, there is a dollar general, some other shops, and gas if you forget some things and find yourself in need. The host was also fantastic. Very quick to respond with messages and updates. I will be back! Definitely recommend!

The serenity, view, wash/power station, and outhouse provided the perfect camping weekend. The site was secure for us and our belongings and was easy to get to. 10/10 would recommend and would love to come back. If you go, check out the visitor journal (stored in the outhouse) for a detailed account of ours and other's experiences. Melissa was the "hostess with the mostest!" She was easy to communicate with and provided fast and helpful communication before, during, and at the end of our stay. Go check it out for yourself!

We had a wonderful stay at this site! It was a beautiful drive in and very easy to find. The outhouse was awesome. The view was 10/10 we can't wait to come back and stay longer!

First off, what an amazing site (and sights)! This was my 2nd stop on my first solo roadtrip and it was everything I wanted and more. My pup and I had a fantastic time and we'll definitely be back hopefully with some friends!!

This Rock Island site is absolutely amazing, and is one of our favorites! We were so happy the weather finally cooperated enough for us to take our trip out there! Rock Island State Park is about 15 minutes away and it has some great hikes. Burgess Falls and Fall Creek Falls are a little farther but still reasonable (about 30-40 minutes). The site has a beautiful view and is such a quiet spot. I believe we only saw one car and one Side-by-side during our stay. There are some curvy roads, but manageable as long as you go the way Melissa instructs. The secondary route has a very tight hairpin turn for anyone bringing a trailer so definitely take her advice. This was our second time staying here and we’ve already got another one planned! The hook-ups are great for a trailer but also had some plugs in case you are going to throw a tent down and have an extension cord to run! The hammock was added since the last time we were there and it was a great addition! We did not have a group but the location is open enough to have some family in tents plus an RV/trailer and still have privacy and space for activities! We love this site and can’t wait to go back!

Such a beautiful property! The view was amazing and there was plenty of room to roam, which my dog loved! The outhouse was the cleanest I’ve seen and I wasn’t afraid to use it lol. Loved that there was a picnic table, a hammock, and chairs around the fire pit. This is a great base camp if you want to do a lot of hiking around the area but also a good spot to relax at (Verizon cell service worked great). Even though the camp is next to the road, we saw maybe 5 cars pass by in the 3 days we were there. It’s a very quiet, peaceful area without feeling too far away from civilization. The host was so friendly and responsive. I hope to visit again soon!!

Our entire family LOVED this spot. The view is beautiful! We enjoyed sitting around the fire at night and soaking up the sun during the day. The hammock was a favorite as well. The host is wonderful and very responsive. This might be our favorite spot of all time and we have already recommended it to family and friends. It was the perfect way to spend spring break. This was a great location to visit multiple local waterfalls. We will be back!

11/10 stars! Melissa's site is an absolutely gorgeous view, plenty of flat open space for tent or RV camping, and easy access water and trash. She has a great firepit setup and you can see out over the whole countryside in the valley below. The outhouse is the classiest and cleanest I've ever used. In addition, Melissa was super responsive and went above and beyond to help us out when we ran into a weather jam. Will definitely come back again.

This campsite is a must try! Melissa is the best host and the most hospitable there is. We just love TN as we vacation there often and finding Melissa’s place is a piece of heaven nestled on its own kind—truly a gem! Experience it for yourself to truly enjoy the majestic view and the peaceful surrounding. We are for sure coming back. Excellent place! ♥️♥️♥️
