Beautiful woods, a variety of types of sites so you can pick one right for you! We were able to hang up a couple hammocks and plenty of room for our large tent. The firewood they sell burns great-we’ve had bad experiences of buying firewood on site at other parks where it’s wet but this wood was dry and lit right away! Also, download music to listen offline because the service isn’t very strong out there. If you’re looking for a secluded primitive spot to get away this is it!

Great spot! Level grounds to park on or set your tent up. Loved all the trees and peaceful environment. It can get muddy though so be aware if it’s wet. Check in was easy and I felt very safe. Excited to come back for a concert one of these days. I’ll definitely be back.

It’s a great price at $10. The downside is it is very loud. If I didn’t have ear plugs I would not have slept due to the loud roads. There was also a loud dump truck backing up on my 2nd night at dawn for a few hours. This site does have good Verizon service

Upon arrival we were greeted by a girl poking her head out of an old bus window and simply pointing and saying "sign in over there" and slammed her window shut. Luckily there was another guest that knew the routine and walked us through it. River sites were nice but a little crowded so we opted for an upper site. We had two neighbors on this 6 site trail. One neighbor couple was very quite and a pleasure to camp beside. The other had the Latin hip hop top 25 playing until 11:30pm drowning out a 90's rock concert on stage a few yards from them. Once i finally got to sleep around midnight I was scared awake by the sound of one of my neighbors car alarms (one car per site rule but they had two) going off at 1:15am for 10 minutes straight! Finally got back to sleep about 3am. Woke up at 6am only to be greeted by the Latin radio booming once again shortly thereafter. In short, nice campground but had neighbors from hell with no rule enforcement.

Lots of good campsites here, many right next to the river! Easy to find, pretty well maintained and lots of flora and fauna! Easy access to the river makes for a nice day of fishing, floating and swimming. My only complaint is that there is construction nearby and it was very loud at times but we were also the ONLY people there so there was no other background noise or campers to detract from it. The wildlife doesn't seem to mind though - we saw turkeys, fish, all sorts of interesting insects, a bunny, toads, lots of birds, and animal tracks for other things too.

Checking in was a little confusing at first - there wasn’t anyone around and you had to read several signs and directions. But it was an incredible experience overall. The site maintenance was impeccable, VERY clean porta potties, and the musical performance was a great touch. There was quite a mix of patrons - adult groups, families, children, pets; but it all meshed really well and it seemed like everyone was having a great time!

The site was great (except for the stinging nettle, but that's not their fault). There was more separation between the sites than you would find at most state parks. The hosts were very nice and very welcoming.
The site is also a concert venue on Saturdays, and a boat ramp for paddling and fishing. We were there Friday through Sunday. Friday was very quiet, but on Saturday It can get pretty busy with the traffic from the paddling company and folks using the boat ramp.
It is primitive as well (as advertised). No potable water and porta-potties for bathrooms. No tables at the sites.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Definitely worth the cost and we would love to visit again.

Great, well maintained camping spot. Right on the river with shady beaches...a great way to beat the heat. You can conveniently rent canoes/kayak on site too. Owners are very friendly, reasonable people. Self check-in was easy. You are assigned a site # through Hipcamp, but it's first-come first-served when you are there. We had a great time—would recommend!

This place was perfect! We wanted a nice campsite with a fire pit and a river. Everything was kept so nicely and easy access to portapotties and the river. We had a blast and our privacy. The hosts were very nice and helpful as well! We can’t wait to come back.

This is my new favorite place! Omg the reviews and the pics don’t do it justice! Hot tip: bring inflatables and hang out at all the river beach spots. Bring your fishing poles this river is stocked! And schedule a kayak / canoe trip through duck canoe and float for hours down Duck river and end up right back at your campsite at the end. Tons of wildlife to see along the way. This spot is a gem, do yourself a favor and book right away :-)

We stayed in Site #4 and loved the spot. Incredibly dog friendly and the people and atmosphere were great. While this is a amazing spot for utilizing the duck river for canoeing and kayaking, not a great spot for swimming as the river current is decent at this location. Just an FYI, this does not detract from the experience but just a little!

This place is awesome. Right on the water and lots of sites with ample shade and trees. We also used duck canoe with our own kayaks (they just shuttled us) and it was awesome getting picked up from camp and ending up back at our campsites. We will definitely be back.
Couple of notes for future campers:
The shower is a spring shower that is barely more than a trickle with a pull cord in some outhouse type stalls. It was definitely usable, but also we felt a bit exposed taking a real shower and getting naked and such. Definitely more of a wash up after swimming shower, but also it worked for a real shower.
Toilets are portapotties. They were sparkling clean, but still portapotties.
There are many campsites (over 20 or so) and they are beautiful, but you can see (and hear) other campers at the sites all around you. You’re separated by trees and bushes and stuff, but definitely full seclusion like in the backcountry. This was only annoying when someone was playing music really loud all day and all night.
Seriously though, this place is awesome. Absolutely beautiful, great escape, and lots of fun on the river. We will 100% be back and will bring lots of friends to float the river!

Super cool place by the river for a night away from the city- the sites were cool and private- but every fire pit seemed to have some trash left in it. The provided portapottys didn’t have any toilet paper but the property manager came and checked in on us I just forgot to tell her.. all around great place to camp I hope to come back when there is a scheduled concert!

Weekend was fine with the exception of the loud drunk people who played music and sang until 4:30am. But they were the same people that complained about a kid that was excited about his first camping trip, was being too loud. Will not go back. How are you going to have patrol come tell us to quiet down a kid whos excited on a weekend. But your patrol cant tell the drunk.adults at 4:30 in the morning to quiet down? They said that they didnt hear them which isnt true because none of us got any sleep.

We chose Howlin’ because it was late and needed an instant book. The site came up as instant book and stated check in was just after 12pm.
We paid via Hipcamp and headed that way after driving 6 hours. We wanted to just park and sleep in our jeep / camp in the back.
The owner came out after we “checked in” at the front and followed the hipcamp directions and wrote that in the total section on the paper. She implied we couldn’t be there as it was after 9pm and said that there was no check in after 9pm. We stated we had already paid a few times before she stated that was okay and said she’d be checking the listing to see that it stated 9pm. It did not. Did not feel very welcome after that sadly.
I do not like writing negative reviews but we chose this place due to the instant book & statement of checkin being just simply “after 12pm”, paid and then we’re almost told to leave. We just really wanted a safe place to sleep.

Place was pretty amazing! Will definitely be back! The camp host was awesome! Can't wait to catch a band there! I will say if you want less noise, and peace I'm quiet, the lower campsites might not be for you.

Jane was very friendly! Check in was easy. Although there is no pull-through on this site for skoolies like mine they allowed me in their parking area. The land is beautiful!
It rained a lot recently and I ended up getting stuck in the mud. Jane and two men helped me get unstuck and on my way. Super friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Very cool convenient spot just south of Nashville off I-65 Beautiful river and fun rustic vibe, exactly as expected. Hope to be passing through when they have live music.

Howlin' Hill campground was an amazing experience. You drive in from the highway and stop at a little office and sign in. There is also firewood available for $10 by the office. We just ended up foraging this time. I didn't meet the hosts, but they were very responsive to questions via text. If you want a really secluded spot, you can park in the lot and walk down the trails and stake your claim. Or, you can go down towards the boat ramp and camp closer to the river. We opted for the latter, site 18. The stage sits in nice grassy field, plan to bring our badminton set next time. Apparently they have events from time to time--would be interested in checking those out. Pristine portapotties! We fished the river, although we didn't catch anything, it was a great time. The only minor negative thing I could say is that you can hear the traffic from the highway from time to time, but that was easy to ignore. This was a great time and great value and I can't wait to go back! Especially looking forward to camping here next summer, can't wait to swim in that river and every site is well shaded. Thanks again Howlin'!
