GlampKnox Canvas Campground

We really enjoyed the glamping experience at Clare! When we first arrived on the property, we were greeted by horses that were lined up on the fence. The tent was well equipped with solar lighting on the porch, battery for chargers, lanterns, easy availability to purchase fire wood. We appreciated the camping potty near the tent in the middle of the night, just wasn’t sure what to do with the used bags as there wasn’t instructions in the welcome folder. The outdoor shower was a fun experience and the view of the stars was magnificent!

Great place to stay a few nights

This was a beautiful place. It was close to Knoxville and to Sevierville, but out of the traffic. It was very close to I40, and was very easy to find, even in the dark. You could hear the interstate traffic from the property, but not bad enough to inhibit sleep if you ran a fan or something. I was a little hesitant at first about the (outdoor) shower, which I had to ask about in order to locate. It's on the front of the stable building, which feels very exposed. That's the side of the building that faces the road, and incoming drive. However, there was no traffic in there at night time and we were usually the only guests. I just used it at night time, and it was actually kind of nice since you could see the stars some. The water was plenty hot, and it was a nice shower head. I could see this being a little awkward if you were there with many other guests and/or they were having maybe a wedding or other similar event out there at the same time. The "stable" looks set up inside for a wedding venue. So, I assume that's what it's usually used for. I stayed at the tent/cabin that was up the road from the other 3, which are fairly close together, and it was very private up there. However, the hill up there is pretty steep, and there isn't anywhere flat to park. That may not matter to most people, since they probably plan to sleep in the tent/cabin, but I let my dad sleep in there and I needed to crash in my converted van. So, I had to seek flatter ground. Just something to note.

Extended Stay!

We were pleasantly surprised with how wonderful our stay was at GlampKnox! We were expecting the basics of glamping i.e. Temperate Shower, the reinforced tent, and nice beds. However, GlampKnox takes it to the next step for their residents providing us with all the goodies we didn't think we would have: a power bank, fresh towels, a lantern, indoor trash can, and a HOT shower! On top of everything, throughout the extended stay the hosts did a wonderful job responding to and providing our needs whether firewood, water, or charging bank while promptly cleaning and resetting the other sites for the next guest.

Glamping?

Knoxy Top Campground - Summit

This is a gorgeous property with most things you need for camping and plenty of room to stroll. One big con for me was a bag situation at the latrine near the tents, which are situated pretty close together. You're issued a bag that can be used twice but the latrine is shared by the three tents so it's up in the air who's used the bag and how many times it's been used, and I was not about to pack out someone else's elimination in order to put my own bag in the latrine. Kind of gross to fit under the umbrella of glamping. That noted, it is not a long walk down the hill to the wedding venue where there are three single restrooms for use. The shower is an outdoor stall, which is fine unless you're camping in 30° weather as we were, in which case you will likely forego the shower. We brought firewood but decided against a fire because our fire area was on the down slant of a hill. Not exactly ideal for chairs and sitting around the fire, though I guess we could have set a fire and watched it from the porch. The bed was clean and comfortable and the tent was warm. The netting doesn't fit exactly over the opening but we managed to make it work when it was warmer the first night and having the flat open was necessary. A few simple fixes and figuring out that the latrine issue would make this a glowing review, but for now I'm not sold.

Knoxy Top Campground - Northstar

We just used this for a quick stopover sleep on our way to SC. We slept in our little travel trailer and were glad to have the flush toilet. Our favorite part was the friendly cat who greeted us upon our arrival. Such a sweetheart. We might be back on our way home if there is an opening.

Tent ·

This was the perfect campground in Knoxville! Only a few minutes off I-40 and close to everything between the Smokies and Knoxville. And PRIVATE! Wow, so private with only 4 designated campsites in the woods. A short hike from the parking lot (less than 5 min), and clean restrooms with a hot outdoor shower! Couldn’t ask for more. You can also rent the entire campground to have the place to yourself. They provided a charging station, water, trash pickup, and firewood upon request! Hidden gem. We’ll be back!!

The campground was wonderful, the tents were nice but could use some deep cleaning as there were some mold spots. My only complaint is that there was soo much noise from helicopters and planes at night it was very hard to fall asleep.

The site was awesome. The tents are spaced far enough apart so you don’t hear anyone else. The tents are set up really nicely and the view of the smoky mountains is gorgeous.

Good but not great.

The tents themselves were great but the outhouse designated for the tents was not much and nothing more than a porta potty. The path down to the barn would be ok in the daytime and in the summer but at night after a rain, it was almost impassible. No lights and muddy and slippery. The bathrooms were great and the outdoor shower was hot, but the shower needs a little bit more privacy being stuck out in the open. Overall I had a great time and the property was beautiful, but better lighting and pathways would make it spectacular. Just needs some overall attentiveness looking at it from a campers point of view.

This place was exactly as described! Host was welcoming and helpful in setting up a comfortable stay, plus the indoor bathroom/outdoor shower space was a great amenity. Close to Knoxville, and about an hour from popular Great Smoky Mountains trailheads. Great location to disconnect without being too far from the city or dealing with the traffic in the park.

It’s hard to get a simple spot to pitch a tent for less than $30 these days. Staying here was definitely worth a few more dollars! The beds were surprisingly comfortable and even though we had temperatures in the low 30s one night the provided space heater with our propane tank kept us more than warm.

Excellent in all ways

GlamKnox is an excellent place to stay, whether for a night or for several. I was in Clare which is a small tent, but it was just me. Very comfortable, roomy and clean. Bed was super comfortable, I worried I might be cold with the blankets provided - I need not have worried. The charging station was helpful, the fans were great at midday. Bathrooms by barn were spotless, outdoor shower had nice hot water. Loved the location, close to Knoxville, close to Smoky Mountain National Park (avoid going the main route to avoid traffic). Excellent communication, host is willing to work with you if there are issues. Extremely friendly. Somehow I made friends with Smoky, the barn cat and she adopted me for the last three nights of my stay. Super friendly animal and added a lot of relaxing unwind time to my visit as I got to pet her on the porch.

Highly Recommend GlampKnox

I had a great experience at GlampKnox. You can asily navigate to the site via Google Maps, and the directions provided by the GlampKnox staff were very clear, as were the signs on site. You drive up an inclined gravel road to the camp site, where 3 sturdy canvas tents are set up on wooden platforms. There is a single parking spot in front of each tent. My tent held up perfectly in the rain, was clean, mostly bug-free [one stink bug which I ignored], with a very comfortable bed and extra blankets. I loved the phone charger pack, fan, lantern, and available propane heater [which I did not use in October]. I used the restroom and outdoor shower attached to the barn, and they got the job done [shower water was warm enough but not very hot], but the shower might be a bit cold in the winter months. I did not have time to visit with the horses or set a campfire, but those options are available if you're taking it easy. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

I was just passing through and needed something already set up that I could go right in and sleep and take off early the next morning. Was clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was how close to the interstate it was so I could hear constant traffic. But would recommend this place to friends

I visited during the week and it was perfect. Secluded and peaceful. I did wander around to find the shower down at the barn but after I found it outside, it was great. Shampoo, conditioner and towels provided, which was greatly appreciated. Note that the walk to the barn is down a hill and a little steep, but there is a rope to hold. Would recommend

Peaceful Stay

GlampKnox is a peaceful setting but near enough to Knoxville to enjoy all it has to offer. The tents and beds are comfortable yet rustic enough to give the feel of someplace much further away from civilization. Will definitely stay here again in the future

We had a great stay in Tree Solo! The hosts at GlampKnox thought of everything— we had a bug net to keep the tent insect-free, our own outhouse, water, power, fans, and lanterns. The land is beautiful, and the horses and barn cat are an added bonus! Would definitely recommend.

Really comfortable beds

Everything you need.. Tents are well appointed with chargers, light and fan. Beds were VERY comfortable. Host was very responsive and brought us ice last minute.. very friendly and accommodating. We had the place to ourselves and built a fire even though it was warm. Sat in the rocking chairs and enjoyed the evening. toilet is close enough to tents but not too close!!
