The campsite sits beside a quiet creek, bordered by soybean fields on one side and the water on the other. We were able to hang our hammocks over the creek bank which was fabulous!
The highlight of the site is the magnificent oak tree, estimated to be 200–300 years old. Sitting beneath a tree that has witnessed centuries of history was something truly special, and we can’t wait to return in the fall to see her autumn colors.
Nighttime is my favorite time at any camp, and this is my new #1 spot. Frogs called from every direction, barred owls echoed through the night, ducks chimed in occasionally, and the stillness between each sound was pure magic. I slept so good.
Before leaving, we drove around to see the other campsites on the property. The riverfront sites are directly on the Tennessee River and also appeared to offer plenty of privacy from one another. If you enjoy watching boats pass by and want immediate river access, they looked like fantastic options.
The host was welcoming and genuinely cares about his property. When he stopped by to deliver our firewood, I told him, “You didn’t do this place justice in the description!” The photos are beautiful, but they simply can’t capture how special this place feels once you’re there.
One tip for summer campers: bring insect repellent. The mosquitoes are plentiful, but that’s simply part of camping in a lush creekside environment and was a small tradeoff for such an incredible natural setting.

The place was beautiful and it was very scenic. I found a spot that was right on the river and it did not disappoint. The spot had easy water access and I kayaked multiple times without any issues although if you go on the weekend be prepared there are allot of boats so if you are swimming or kayaking this can get tricky. I would stay here again it’s a great place to visit and enjoy.

Very peaceful location on the water at Big Oak site. Easy to get to the site which has a mix of shade and open sky. The site was clean and well-maintained. Don was quick to respond and answered all our questions ahead of booking. Would definitely return to this site when in the area again.

My pup and I car camped for a couple nights here, while it was hot and buggy out, the actual site is very remote and relaxing! Very quiet peaceful place to rest, the Host Don was very kind and helpful if I had any questions!

Beautiful secluded place to tent camp! Area was clean and full of nature. It is confusing to get to. There is no real signage at the gate entrance and hardly any phone service. Once you enter the gate

Crooked Creek Premium Pointe site
We highly enjoyed tent camping here. It was so peaceful and private. Fishing right outside of your tent. Fun cove to paddle the kayak last in. Its name is quite fitting based on how many blue herons are around. We will definitely be back again.

Stayed at the riverside campsite this time and it was very nice. We were able to drop the kayaks in the river very easily and enjoyed paddling up and down the river. We will be back for sure.

I very much enjoyed my time on Dons property. The views were amazing! And the site was well manicured . There was even a spot by the water for my hammock to overlook the water and watch the sun come up!

Repeat camper. Such a beautiful setting on the river. Sites are mowed and very clean and tidy. Don’s a cool cat. He’s there if you need him and not if you don’t.

An absolutely beautiful off-the-grid location, on the banks of some TnRiver backwater pools and bays, with lots of sun, and an absence of civilzation 'noise' made for an excellent weekend of camping.

We stayed at Blue Heron Landing with our family for the third time, and once again, we had such a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful and welcoming. We were a group of six, and the space was perfect—just the right balance of privacy while still feeling cozy and connected.
One of the highlights of our stay was sitting around a beautiful fire, sharing stories and laughter late into the evening. It really gave us the chance to slow down and enjoy each other’s company in a meaningful way.
The host Don was also an absolute joy to meet—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely cared about making our stay special. Overall, it was another memorable experience, and we would definitely love to come back again.

Very beautiful land. It was nice and clean, very level so easy for whatever type of camping you want to do. I was the only one there but they seemed well spaced out. Great views and the host is very accommodating and kind if you would like to meet them. I enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Don's land was perfect for our quick overnight stop. We stayed in one of the spots near the back of the property and we were the only people back there so it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was very quiet and being right on the river was a plus. We even go to see a couple of barges go by while we were drinking coffee in the morning.
