It all went sensational the entire site to ourselves, the pure fresh water from the river we caught a 2lb brown trout the outlook over the flowing water way the vineyard to the side We will be back soon

Ryelands was a beautiful secluded spot on the banks of the Derwent. We had a very relaxing few days there at the peak of the holiday season. Derek was a very helpful and informative host who also respected your privacy. He also makes very good wine. We will definitely return.

We loved our stay at Ryelands Farm & Vineyard. Our host, Derek was on hand to meet us and welcome us to the site. Lovely river frontage, well kept, freshly mowed camp ground. A hidden gem only an hour from Hobart!

Ryelands is a beautiful place to camp. Being just one site, we had the whole place to ourselves, and Derek went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything that we needed.

We loved camping at Ryelands Farm. Derek was the perfect host: great directions; met us at the gate; shared local knowledge; respected our privacy. The view and privacy justifies the price. Oh, and Derek’s pinot noir, grown on vines next to the campsite, was wonderful.

A wonderful camp site, only an hour from Hobart. Easy access and ample space for our vehicles. Pet friendly. Derek, our host was so helpful and friendly. We had fabulous weather and enjoyed taking the occasional dip at the river bank location. A hidden gem!

Derek was the nicest host and his Pinot Noir is excellent! Campsite is very private and right on the river. Note, limited mobile reception being in a dip and also no natural shade on hot days.

Wonderful camp site.
So natural!!
Full of peace and calmness.
No artificial sound. Only the river flows during the night.
No power no water, however perfect experience for a family camping.
Wonderful place if you can endure a little bit of inconvenience.

River camping
The ideal camping to enjoy some time with family or friends without all the crowd and with amazing views over the Derwent River.

Bucolic Beauty
During a wet spring it was like camping at Hobbiton, living in a gorgeous landscape with velvety green gently rolling hills hugging the river. There is an abundance of bird life to be seen and heard throughout the day including Australasian darters, blue wrens, white-faced herons, swallows and kookaburras. We even saw a wedge-tailed eagle. And it's so private and quiet.

Delightful, you won’t want to leave
Absolutely delightful spot! Flat area directly alongside the river and away from the roadside.
Derek is a personable fellow, checking we were comfortable, then left us to enjoy his prized location.
A truly tranquil space. Stayed two nights, could have easily stayed another five. Needless to say we will stay again.
Also, grab a bottle of Derek’s Pinot to enjoy by the fire!

Location,location,location on the Derwent River, trout jumping and sun shining.

Campsite - Vineyard - River Derwent
This was an absolutely perfect and very private spot beside Derek’s vineyard and looking straight in to the River Derwent. Derek was a fabulous host and made us feel very welcome. It is very rare to find a such perfect campsite and have it all to yourself! The River is flowing and crystal clear and the sites are level and grassed. Fires at night, pristine river views. Be sure to buy a bottle or several of Derek’s quality Ryelands Pinot Noir directly from him whilst you are there - it’s great value and absolutely high quality.

The site was great. Derek met us at the gate and had plenty of advice on the local area. He provided some wood for a camp fire. His wine is awesome, so bring cash. Close to the river. New Norfolk is close for a variety of shopping. Thoroughly recommended for a couple of days of serenity.
