The Specialty Crop sits on 5 rural acres in the southeastern corner of South Dakota. We are a farmstead committed to sowing a meaningful life for special people, of all abilities. We cultivate community through farm experiences and special food. Our small-scale, working farm is surrounded by rolling hills and farm fields. Enjoy the farmstead strolling paths, gardens, and our friendly chickens, cats and dog. Experience the curated natural surroundings including bird watching, bugs and prairie habitat. This was a wonderful place to stay. A true hidden gem; with a beautiful sunset, clean, safe, and welcoming! I could not have asked for a better host.

Bougie farm stay!
We needed an affordable, comfy option near Sioux Falls as we moved our oldest back to college. Chris and Katie's cottage and farm provided much needed respite and relaxation before the big move in day. We arrived later than we would have liked, 7:30pm. However, the family was so welcoming and showed us everything we needed to know about our stay. The log cabin reminded us of something from the pioneer days, small, quaint but on a bougie level with decor and special touches throughout. We were not bothered by the unattached restroom as it was a short walk down the gravel drive and so nice. The composting toilet and sink space were super clean and the outdoor shower was glorious! The beds were so comfortable and our teens enjoyed the loft space and a little privacy. We enjoyed a little bonfire and visit with the family before bed and we're sad we didn't have a little more time to enjoy the farm. We will definately be back and are so grateful for the excellent experience.

Best short stay yet..! The small farm and orchard setting is superb with surprising amenities. The outside ‘shower house’ was off the charts & fully-stocked with essentials. I will stay here when returning from the west coast and definitely recommend.
