This was a great base camp for our South Dakota adventure. The site was beautiful with tall pines all around. Lot of wildlife to see as well. The staff were great to work with, they delivered firewood and ice directly to our site.
We would highly recommend spending time here if you’re in South Dakota

This is an established campground but has the heartfelt welcome and hospitality that is representative of Hipcamp. The tent sites are past the RVs and grouped at the back of the camp where they have inhibited views of Custer State Park. I saw dear 40’ away and listened to squirrels and birds aa I faded to sleep. Unexpected camp facilities included: free charging lockers, wifi near the laundry/game building, and supplies available on call.

Quiet, peaceful spot that backed up to the forest—so appreciated and needed! Host and staff were all very friendly too. Nothing fancy, but perfect for a weekend of decompressing from the road.

Tent camping near a pine forest
It was a chill campsite in the black hills. The bathroom was well serviced. It's generally a nice walk around the campsite. I also liked that it was pretty quiet and wooded.

Our visit was nice and view of pine forest was pretty. Appreciated the nice area for warm showers and bathrooms together. Happy there was a laundry area and dish cleaning station too. Would recommend

Jennifer was easy to work with and very helpful. She responded to my emails quickly and answered all of my questions. She helped me find the perfect camping spot for our needs. Camping areas were extremely clean and they even deliver firewood to you. I highly recommend and I will camp with them again when in the area. Thank you so much!!

Beautiful place? We were camping with our van - for the first time. Perfect and beautiful location. Friendly hosts, safe and private area. Clean showers and toilets. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect spot! Sunsets were amazing and they deliver anything you need to the site. Which is really awesome cause I have a roof top tent and I’d have to take everything down to get anything the staff is awesome. And places to hike right accessible through the site

Absolutely loved our time here. Front desk staff so friendly and lovely, site was amazing with beautiful view, bathrooms clean. Also conveniently located to local attractions. Will stay here every time I pass through Custer. :)

We had a great time camping on the land, our spot was on the border of the property and overlooked the valley into the State Park. It was beautiful! We would definitely stay there again. There was plenty of tree cover during the day so we could just hang out at the campsite after hiking in the morning. I would recommend staying here if you want easy access to the Custer State Park.

Overall we had a great experience! Our time there was really hindered by the ice cold showers with it being fall and cold mornings. I wouldn’t stay there again just for that reason

This was a nice campground. Girl at office was very nice and helpful. We did upgrade to full hook up. Bathrooms were very clean. This campground onion a great location very close to town but still felt you were camping in woods. I would recommend Big Pines!

Conveniently located near all the Black Hills attractions. Quiet. Right next to the national forest with access right there at the campground. Staff were very nice and helpful!

The campground was great. Great camp spots with lots of trees on the edge of the national forest. All of the workers are friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

Our family of 4 (plus our dog Redford) enjoyed every minute of our stay. Polite and friendly staff greeted us and escorted us to our site. The campground is conveniently located near Jewel cave, Mount Rushmore, and other attractions. It was quiet, clean, and well spaced out. Lots of amenities put it over the top (laundry room, game room, firewood deliveries, and charging stations to name a few). A must for tent camping families!

Tent camping near a pine forest
Great spot. Minutes to custer and custer state park. Jennifer and her staff are extremely friendly and brought the fire wood right to us. Tent sites especially are farthest from the hwy and next to a field and so most private and quiet. Away from the RVs.

Awesome campsite. Bathrooms were clean, showers were warm. Office was responsive and brought out firewood asap. Very friendly staff, would definitely recommend if you’re staying in SD!
