The serene space is an outdoor sanctuary centrally-located within 20 miles of Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Eye Tunnel / Highway, and Black Elk Peak. Your adventure will also take you near Hill City, Keystone, Custer, and Historic Deadwood. The loft off the kitchen has a twin bed and space for another sleeping bag if desired, which children tend to love. This is a 2-story, 3 BR 2 BA spacious cabin with an open concept, fully stocked kitchen, and living/dining area with a large sectional sofa, and three separate decks. In total, the cabin can sleep up to 10. The first floor also has one bathroom with shower and one bedroom with a queen-size bed. The second floor has two very large bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, and the other with two twin-over-full bunk beds. The upstairs also has the second bathroom with a shower. There is a large covered upper deck accessible from both bedrooms. Listen to the babble of the creek and enjoy the Black Hills National Forest view as it is adjacent to Horse Creek. Our historic log cabin offers a genuine Black Hills experience! This 3BR 1BA log home features gorgeous, vaulted ceilings, gas fireplace, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a jacuzzi tub, a separate shower, washer, dryer, outdoor eating/table along with two outdoor firepits. There is a flight of stairs in the living room that leads to an upstairs loft with a full and a twin bed, and another bedroom with a queen bed. This unit can sleep 6 adults and up to 4 children, with two additional cots for children along with a double sofa bed in the living room. Horse Creek Resort was a fantastic stay during my road tip. Garret sent out helpful instructions beforehand, and the directions and maps were very helpful. The construction in the area (Sept 2025) did not affect getting into the site at all. The wifi available was a fantastic amenity. The bathroom and showerhouse were cleaned and well maintained. The property is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. This was a perfect stop for me on a long road trip. Thank you Garret!

First - Garret was an excellent host! Friendly, responsive, available immediately! This place is a gem! Beautiful - nestled in mountains, meadows, national forest, a little creek and you can practically walk to Lake Sheridan. Keystone/Mt. Rushmore are 20 minutes away. RV, vans & tents... water, trash, electric and port-a-pottie. The tent area was so open, with picnic tables and fire pits. So peaceful, quiet - my pups loved it, as did I. Oh and great star gazy! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

RV sites along river are fabulous! Bathroom/showers/laundry (need quarters for laundry) fantastic! Host Garret and team were exceptionally helpful and working to make the Horse Creek Hipcamp clean, friendly, and fun. Proximity to Sheridan Lake for recreation and hiking, biking, and dog walking wonderful.

I thought there would be less campers around but it was a beautiful location. Our kids loved playing in the stream being our campsite. There was a hiking trail behind our site that butted up to the national forest. I would definitely recommend!!

We loved camping here with our little RV. It was close enough to the cities to grab a bite to eat, but remote enough to enjoy the quiet. The campground was clean and the full RV hookups were very nice to have for our 5 night stay. My kids enjoyed being close to the creek and looking up at the night sky with a fire was a great way to end our nights.

Nice place! No hassle. One night it rained, and I noticed there was mud in a place that wasn’t gravel where the picnic table sits. I was actually thinking I should speak to him about putting gravel there, but they already beat me to it and gravel it nicely and gave us a better picnic area. Very prompt service.

We loved tent camping at the resort across the creek! It was close to Sheridan lake, Custer state park etc so super easy to get around and go hiking. The facilities (shower house etc) were very convenient. Would definitely stay again sometime!

Stayed in FHU for the fourth of July week with our dog. Everything was very clean and quiet. Rv sites are a little too close together (for our liking) and since we were by a bridge that connects to the tent campers across the creek, we had a good amount of fellow campers cut across our site. Other than that, the stay was great. We miss the mountain cliff views and walking thru the forest.

Very nice resort for RVs and Tent Campers. Clean. Great location near Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore. Definitely would stay here again and highly recommend.

Host reached out before our stay and remained responsive and helpful throughout. Helped us with a few things that came up for our trip, and easily extended our stay. Campsite was spacious and beautiful. Grounds had laundry, bathrooms, showers. We had a really nice stay and would return

We camped in our tent by the creek. Nice flat area for the tent. Really enjoyed our stay. Garrett was really easy to communicate with.

The Land was beautiful. Lots of space for renting. The camp host was kind and above and beyond helpful. We will absolutely be back next year!
