Our land was once a thriving dairy farm. Since the late eighties, it's been under Kip's care. We presently use it to raise beef cattle and keep domestic animals. Kip is retired and spends time growing vegetables, flowers, and grafting fruit and nut trees. Down time is spent enjoying the bees, raising peafowl and geese and spending some weekend time with his grandchildren.

Great Camping!
Absolutely great! My daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at the cabin. She particularly loved the horses and playing in the sand by the creek. No traffic noise, which is awesome. Also...he's not messing around about coming after dark...you'd never find it. Definitely coming back soon.

This property is so fun! So much forest to explore, very private, plenty of wood for an indoor or outdoor fire, the indoor fireplace has perfect grates to help with cooking and log placement and the cabin itself is quaint and homey. My pup loved all the free area to roam. My friend and I are already talking about our next visit! 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Beautiful Rustic Cabin in the Woods
We had an absolutely wonderful time during our stay at Kip’s cabin! We met Kip and his sweet dogs at the farm house and Kip led us through the pastures and woods to reach the cabin while stopping occasionally to provide information on the cattle, horses, and other significant parts of the farm. I drove a 2017 Subaru Outback through the pastures and woods to the cabin, I think any SUV would make it, but I would just be careful with a sedan. When we arrived at the cabin Kip gave us a brief history of the structure, a tour, and important information to know before leaving. We then took a walk with my dog on one of the many mowed paths that Kip has made around the property. It was very peaceful and serene, especially with the fall colors! We slept on the pullout couch because it was closer to the fire, I recommend bringing your own bedding because there was none provided at the cabin. I brought a sheet, two sleeping bags, 2 blankets, and pillows. We brought a camping grill but also utilized the fireplace inside. Plastic utensils and plates/bowls for food were provided which we really appreciated! Bring your own water! We brought 3 gallon jugs and full water bottles. The outhouse was very clean and was just far enough away from the cabin for privacy. I suggest bringing your own toilet paper. Kip and his wife went above and beyond for us and made us feel welcome and comfortable. I can’t wait wait to return!

Great adventure for dogs and kids
Lots of space to Roam. I was concerned about my larger dog but she had plenty of land to explore and run around. Mr. Kip was kind. When my larger dog got loose, he was patient and understanding. He said dogs just like to roam and to not worry she would most likely come back to me. And he was right she did so well. With so much land our dogs had plenty of space to run and I didn’t have to worry about them getting too close to a road or to other people. The cabin is sturdy and Well-built. With a huge fireplace that is a delight to cook on. It’s just like camping except you don’t have to be in a small tent and sleeping on the ground. There is a wonderful pull out couch. My eight-year-old daughter loved all of the hiking trails and she and I can’t wait to come back.

Camping in the woods
Well when I woke up Sat morning and went on the porch it was like I was in the mountains far from home. Loved the cabin, peace and quiet. Looking forward to bringing my grandson's for the weekend.

A great place to unplug!
Staying at Kip's cabin was great! It was exactly the offline weekend we needed. We found it to match the description pretty well, with the exception of water- Kip told us the creek had dried up when we arrived, so if we had planned on filtering water we would have need to take the quick trip back into town. Kip was super friendly and he kindly shared produce, eggs, honey, and grits from his farm. Making eggs and grits over the campfire was a highlight of the weekend. The area was very quiet and we loved spending the day wandering around the trails through the woods. Beware the spiders in the out house though!

Watkins Farm Cabin
Quiet, beautiful, and totally off grid. It is two large pastures and a small wood away from the farm animals and so my dog could run about as she pleased (play in the creek, chase wildlife, bury bones) and not bother anything/one. There is a deeper sense of being able to unplug when my dog is enjoying herself too. :) Walkins Farm is lovely and Kip and Connie are fantastic hosts. The flock of peacocks, mixing with geese and chicken, up at the front house give their place a magical quality. This is the second time I have been here and I will certainly be back!

Camping w/2 kids and a basset hound
What a special place!! Kip (and his sweet pup Cosmo) was a wonderful host who went above and beyond showing us around and answering all of my MANY questions about the area and farm. The cabin was very cozy with a huge fireplace that we all slept in front of. We went for a hike down the creek to a beaver pond and then hiked all around the property. We saw a baby deer, rabbits, and listened to owls hoot in the evening. Kip also has peacocks which were super cool and we were even able to keep a few feathers!! I also recommend buying the eggs and grits when you go as well. The eggs were so good and the old fashioned milled grits were the best I’ve ever had! Thanks for such a lovely weekend, Kip!! We’ll be back for sure!

Rustic no-frills cabin
Very quiet getaway. No electricity it running water. But if you're looking for a rustic cabin getaway this is it. Lots of nice hiking. There is also a small creek nearby. Recommend bringing your own bedding. There are some basic kitchen supplies but we brought some of our own to include a ton for washing the dishes. There is cast iron dutch oven to cook from. We had to wash it and attempted to re-season it before using. The cabin has no insulation so middle of winter camping would recommend take warm blankets or sleeping bag.

Watkins Farm Cabin
A Lovely Place To Retreat
Watkins Farm is the perfect place to retreat, especially for those who love to be out in the woods! It is a camper's dream--comfortable chairs on the covered porch, a fireplace big enough to cook in (and to warm the cabin on chilly nights!), and just enough side comforts to make it super functional--like the outhouse, not far from the cabin, or the propane lantern hung inside by the door and the looong handled cookware hanging by the fireplace (even an old time popcorn fireplace pan!). The cabin is surrounded by trees which are surrounded by pastures. If you want to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, this is the place to be. There are plenty of trails to explore and plenty of water available at the creek or up at the main house. My dog was welcome and was free to run around to her heart's content, which is what made this place particularly restful and enjoyable to me. Kip and Connie (and their dog Cosmo) are super friendly and helpful and did an excellent job with helping us feel right at home. Their honey, eggs and vegetables are delicious--I highly recommend those add ons for your trip. Side note: Also, as we turned into the driveway to the main house upon arrival and circled up to the front steps, several large peacocks were wandering around the yard in that golden sunset light, which was pretty magical. Driving through the pasture to the cabin in the sunset, with the horses tossing their manes and the cows grazing, was also stunning. It's truly a beautiful place!

Relaxing and an great experience
We liked the serine setting and walks around the paths. Saw 2 deer and loved the stream that runs in front of the cabin. The host was so informative and personable. The fire place just made the evening. Talked there and had a restful night. We left the property all cleaned for the next guests.

Lovely secluded getaway. Dog friend
Our stay was quite lovely, and as others have said, the hosts are spectacular. They made us feel right at home and the cabin and property are perfect for really getting away from it all. Tons of trails to explore around the massive property. Our dogs had a great time roaming around. Note that it is rustic, so you do not have running water or electricity, although the outhouse is one of the cleanest I have ever seen! We had 1 bar of t-mobile LTE service which was good to be able to check in with family and know we could be reached, but for the most part being away from all the hustle and bustle of daily live is the best part. Bring a camp stove or cook on the fire (plenty of firewood provided). We definitely plan to come back and stay

Camping under the stars
Kip’s beautiful farm property provided the perfect weekend getaway for my group (I traveled with my friend and our two dogs). Our hosts, Kip and Connie, were there to meet us when we arrived and led us across the property to our campsite overlooking the creek. I drive a Mazda CX-5 and had no issues accessing the spot. Our location was a short distance into the woods and an easy walk to both the trail going down to the creek and an open pasture. We also explored some other trails that laced through the property. The sky was clear so each night we went to the pasture to watch the sunset and look at the stars. Our dogs loved the freedom to run around and explore and we really enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. We were told there were other campers on the property but it is so big that we did not see or hear anyone during our stay. Connie text to see if we were good on water and if we needed anything which I thought was very kind. 10/10 would recommend staying with Kip!!

Watkins Farm is amazing! We spent 3 days just walking around the farm and enjoying nature. The dogs enjoyed playing in the creek out back, and we spent most of our time on the porch hanging out. I highly recommend you get the add-ons when you book. We got sweet potatoes, corn, grits, and honey, and they were all fantastic! Our station wagon was able to make it on the trails. You just have to take it slow. We will be back soon!

Micah & I loved our stay
Kip’s cabin was perfect. I would describe it as a minimalist ultra cabin. I plan to go back as soon as possible. I was only able to stay one night, but it was fantastic. My dog loved exploring and I loved the porch swing and trails and the nice hike back to my car the next morning. The honey is divine! And maybe next time I’ll try to grits and eggs as well. Thank you for a perfect stay!!

Wonderful evening, will visit again
Kip and Connie are wonderful hosts and the property was simply amazing. We spent hours exploring the farm and woodlands, finding tranquility and wildlife both in abundance. The cabin exceeded our expectations with a table and chairs that made the trip a little easier. We highly recommend the eggs and honey, both were a treat.

Great Escape
My favorite Hipcamp experience so far. You will feel like you are sleeping on a good friends farm! And it’s because it is easy to become fast friends with the hosts. The land is very beautiful with lots of hardwoods and pastures to explore. The cabin was very roomy for a one room cabin with loft. Huge fireplace kept us warm in 30’s outside. Very private but felt safe. Outhouse is exceptional.

Rustic Charm and Wildlife Galore
We had a wonderful, relaxing mini-getaway at the Watkins Farm Cabin! On arrival we were greeted by Kip, Connie and “Mo”(the family dog). After a brief introduction and a little info on the farm, we loaded our things up in the farm truck and were taken on a scenic drive through the farm that took us past the orchard, gardens, peafowl and chickens, into picturesque fields where we enjoyed seeing the cattle and a variety of horses. We then followed the winding little lane through the woods until we came upon the rustic hand built cabin, with its large brick fireplace and covered back porch that overlooks a little stream. That evening we thoroughly enjoyed swinging on the porch swing, while being serenaded by the barred owls as the sun went down and later, a big warm fire in the fireplace! The next morning we listened to a flock of turkey calling to each other down the stream a bit as we explored the woods and nearby clearing. The wildlife is so plentiful! We also saw a pair of wood ducks flying by and lots of deer tracks. Our stay, although brief, was peaceful and perfect! We enjoyed the seclusion of the rustic cabin, the peacefulness of nature and the genuineness and superior hospitality of the owners! We will definitely be back for a longer stay!
