Kaleidoscope Farm
Family of 6 - 1st Camping Trip
We were looking for a close-to-home site where we could test out our camping skills before planning a longer trip. The site was perfect for our purposes. The kids could wake up very early without disturbing anyone! Stephanie was super helpful and very responsive. We got to see deer and other wildlife.

Overall a very nice and private camp site. Just make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the picnic table, otherwise you can drive right past it.

Kaleidoscope Farm
Great site for primitive camping
This was a fantastic camping location for some primitive camping, with a few amenities. There was a fire pit, grill, and swing on the site I chose, and I believe that at least one other site has a picnic table. No light pollution and clear sky meant for some great stargazing. Stephanie was great with communication about the site and very responsive to the couple questions I had. Once on site, she suggested several points of interest for exploring the area. I had a great trip and would love to come back again!

Quiet, peaceful spot in the woods
I'm a longtime camper, and took my 2 young sons (ages 5-8) to Kaleidoscope Farm for their first overnight camping experience.
The host Stephanie was very friendly, welcoming and communicative. She quickly responded back to any messaging and /or questions I had.
The site is easy to find and convenient to Columbia, SC. The campsites are very peaceful, located just off a dirt road in a nice grass clearing in a heavily wooded forest.
There is some road noise nearby occasionally in the evening, as the sites are within earshot of well-traveled Monticello Rd. but it was relatively fine after midnight.
Pros:
• Stephanie was a welcoming, friendly and responsive host
• Convenient location near Columbia
• Quiet and peaceful
• Soft grass is nice for sleeping on (though a light air mattress or sleeping pad still recommended)
• Perfect for first time campers as well as car campers, as you can park about 50 ft. from sites
• PLENTY of dead wood laying around for the fire pits, bring an axe/hatchet.
• BYOW (Bring Your Own Water)
Cons (?)
• Rooster can be heard nearby at dawn
• Access/paths to sites was a little rugged, some simple branch clipping for headroom, and some ground clearing is needed. To be fair, The host said they had planned a spring clearing and cleaning up soon.
• There are some small holes spread throughout the sites so you have to watch your step/carry a light around at nighttime.
Had a wonderful time, and will probably come back again in the future.

Private and easily accessible
Stephanie’s spot was just what we needed - private and easily accessible. After a 14 hour road trip it was great to just park our Jeep in the grass, set up the rooftop tent and get to sleep. Stephanie was very communicative and accommodating of our very late arrival. She had the grass mowed and ready for us. The only note I’d make is that a rooster was located somewhere nearby, and was ready to go around 5am, so ear plugs are a good idea if you’re a light sleeper! Thank you Stephanie for a great stay.

Primitive, but that was ok. I arrive in the dark, and left in the dark, so for what it was worth, make sure one has adequate lighting.
