Little did we know when we moved here, but this bit of land has a haunted history that we would love to share with you. This area is the home of the legend of the Pickens County Horror, made famous in a graphic novel penned by Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy. The original builder of our home was killed in our basement by his son. He was blown up and set on fire by a sabotaged gas stove and then left to burn to death in the backyard. There are strange noises and creatures that can be heard and sometimes seen at night. Neighbors are sometimes menaced by…something, which is why you’ll sometimes hear gunshots in the wee hours of the night. The Liberty Boom is often heard at random times during day and night. --- Have a stay in your tent or a hammock under our barn patio. We have a sun-warmed, gravity shower and a camp toilet onsite. There's also a picnic table for your use. Guests have their own parking spaces. There are trails to use right at the end of the driveway, and we can even be talked into taking you out on a haunted night hike if you’re up to it. Don’t be alarmed if you see the neighborhood donkey and horses in the front yard. Situated very close to Clemson University, upstate lakes, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Sassafras Mountain, SC’s highpoint. Guests will also receive PDF versions of: *SC’s Scariest Places with locations of other nearby haunted spots written by me *The Pickens County Horror by Mike Mignola with added maps to locations found in the graphic novel *Guests can also join the waitlist for a free copy of Hillbilly Lovecraft by me when it is released

This site is A TENT SITE OUTSIDE UNDER THE BARN PATIO. If you don't want to tent camp, we have an air mattress site inside the barn as well. There is parking available beside the barns at the top of the hill, and a short hop down a slope to the site itself. It's well lit for nightime use and to keep the unwelcome creatures away. Toilet and shower at at the campsite. Water is available at the main house. There is an electrical hookup at the site for anything you need to charge. Our Wifi doesn't reach the site, but the cell signal is strong. We're more than happy to give you a short tour and describe the lay of the land when you arrive. This is a working farm, so there will be activity around the farm and the barns during the day. We're also a Certified Wildlife Habitat and proud member of the Farmer Veteran Coalition. Various animals we've spotted on the farm include: black bears, skunks, coyotes, raccoons, opossum, hawks, crows, deer, turkeys, all kinds of snakes, scorpions, and a gazillion squirrels. A grocery store, gas station, and plenty of eateries are only a few miles away. Only a short drive to amazing hikes in several state parks and hundreds of miles of trails. Cars, regular trucks, and vans are welcome. Sorry, but there's not enough room for RVs. BYOS- Bring your own stove or grill for cooking. BYOF- Bring your own fan! It is hot in the summer, and the humidity is like a gazillion percent.

This site is INSIDE THE BARN. If you would rather tent camp, we have an open site under the barn patio. There is parking available beside the barns at the top of the hill, and a short hop down a slope to the site itself. It's well lit for nightime use and to keep the unwelcome creatures away. Toilet and shower at at the campsite. Water is available at the main house. There is an electrical hookup at the site for anything you need to charge. There's an air mattress inside but no linens. Bring a sleeping bag or sheets and a blanket. Our Wifi doesn't reach the site, but the cell signal is strong. Enjoyed staying here. Great host. Camp has all the essentials plus a spooky, yet playful, vibe. Would stay again and definitely recommend.

My friend and I really appreciated how kind and very welcoming Dr. David was. As well as the scenery near by. It was a wonderful experience and we'll definitely be coming back.

This such a fun idea for a hip camp experience. I would definitely return and be a little more prepared for the spooks you get. David was such an amazing host, so informative and helpful when needed. Definitely give it a go if you can.

Great site! very convenient location to Clemson area. lots of charm and character to the barn and surrounding land. This was the perfect space for our group to hammock and tent camp.

Dr. David was so accommodating! We arrived really late because my musician husband had a late gig in the area. It was also really hot and we were van-camping so needed the electricity at the parking spot and he dropped a cord for us! (Also appreciate his sense of humor!)

Great site on the high ground, safe from everything flesh and blood 🙃 A big planning table in the middle of a barn overhang makes for convenient off and on loading. Slept like the dead 💀

This is a must stay for anyone who loves the outdoors and enjoys haunted history. The land is beautiful, historically rich, and eerie. The hosts are amazing and well informed on the history of the land and the county. We will definitely be back!

Had a great time hanging out in Liberty. Campsite was perfect for for me , the hosts were great. Very nice and accommodating to my needs. While out to diner David alerted me to weather moving in, making sure my stuff was secure. Thanks David, pleasure to meet your family. EP
