This was our first stay with a HipCamp property. My husband took our 12 year old son to stay for a night at Pam's property so they could go mountain biking in the area. Staying at the property was definitely a highlight for my son and we are already planning another trip asap!
Pam was SO easy to communicate with! She allowed our son to help feed the llamas!

We were looking for a nice quiet place to camp while mountain biking the numerous local trails (FATS is about 15 minutes away). Pam and Hard Earth Farm exceeded our expectations in every way. The farm is beautiful, the camping is dispersed & everything is immaculately clean. To call the bathroom an outhouse does not do it justice, it feels like a perfectly normal bathroom with running hot/cold water & a shower. Interaction with the farm animals and the trail down to the creek was an added bonus. I highly recommend this campground & will definitely be back.

Pam and absolutely everything about Hard Earth Farm blew my expectations out of the water. The farm is GORGEOUS, the campsite was absolutely spectacular, and there’s an incredibly friendly/curious llama on the farm which may have been the highlight of my entire cross-country road trip. Everything was very covid-safe, hand sanitizer and diluted bleach were available in several locations, and I really appreciated that they took our safety so seriously. The outhouse on site was a full-on bathroom with running water, and was so nice I struggle to even call it an outhouse. There was also a short loop trail connected to our site which made for some very enjoyable morning hikes. I’m struggling to come up with all the words necessary to define how spectacular this site is, and how grateful I am to have stayed here. I’ll definitely be back.

This property is gorgeous, with a lovely trail along the creek, and plenty of space for your camp. This is a working farm that has been started from scratch by the owner hosts, Mickey and Pam. They were excellent hosts--got me to my spot and then left me alone, but always nearby. There is a full bathroom with a composting toilet, a hot shower, and a sink. It is nicely appointed and brand new. (Older reviews reference an outhouse that is no longer used.) There is a chill space with a fire pit near the bathroom that has power, water, a microwave, a dorm style fridge, even a Mr. Coffee. Nearby you will find over 30 miles of hiking trails along the lake/river. Huntington State Park is less than ten minutes away and is also very pretty.

This camping experience was perfect! My son and I were lucky enough to have the farm to ourselves. He had a wonderful time with the animals ( he fell in love with the llamas) while I took pictures of the flowers and trees. We spent a long time down by the creek comparing the different shapes of trees. Close enough to town to grab some bbq for dinner before dark. And our hosts were so kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!! Perfect!!

We loved our stay at the farm. Pam was great at keeping in touch with us and giving directions to the property. Her son Nate gave us a tour when we arrived. The property is gorgeous and the amenities they have added are a great touch. We enjoyed cooking dinner and watching the sunset by the fire. Hanging out with all the animals and the trail in the property were a fun added bonus. We can’t wait to come back!

This stay was a pleasant surprise for us. The photos do not do it justice. The alpacas, goats, rabbits and resident cat are all well taken care of and well loved. We were blessed enough to stay while there were baby goats there, too! Our kids had an absolute blast! We also enjoyed the tour that Mickey took us on of their organic farm. We set up camp near the accomodating cozy house and bathroom - which was a wonderful and clean bathroom. We watched a beautiful sunset and slept under the stars after making smores around the firepit. My husband and I took a romantic evening hike along the private creek. We wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back!

We had a great time! Our hosts were amazing. The site was shaded amd private. The bathhouse was beautiful. the fire pits were a little ways away from the platforms but due to the platforms being in a wooded area that is expected. Both fire pits have wood and seating. The trail aling the creek was so awesome, we did it twice.

Hosts Pam and Michael were an absolutely wonderful dynamic couple who simply wanted to share a piece of their heart. Our kids had a blast with their farm family (Alpacas) and with the conveniences (Bath and showers) of their setup, it made camping under the stars so easy. The nearby area is as beautiful as the site. The overall experience was amazing and a high level of camping for HipCamp. It helped us to see what it takes to run a farm. Not easy but it can be very fun and rewarding. We love our homemade goat soaps that Pam makes. Can’t wait for us all to come back. We miss you already, especially Riley!

Beautiful space to be in, fields and forests, big sky views without city lights, remote, great hosts, thoughtful amenities, Llamas, Alpacas-and goats (we were lucky to see fresh born baby goats) campfires, hikes... also paddling, hiking and mountain biking in the nearby National Forest, and a short drive to Lake Strom Thurmond (= Clark’s Hill Lake)...we’ll be back!!

Pam and her farm are sensational. This is an oasis—a safe, gorgeous farm where you can relax. Good hiking and trails. Animals aplenty. Pam makes it comfortable with excellent amenities and thoughtful details that you wouldn’t expect like common areas with filtered water, a clean shower, etc. So it’s a versatile campsite if you cohort has mixed experience levels. Highly recommend.

Hard earth farm camp was an awesome experience! The farm was beautiful and the camp site areas are kept up very well, were level, and the raised platforms would keep you dry in any weather. The owners of the property were extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Great value and a fun time!

Had a fantastic two days and a night here. Hosts were welcoming and gave background on the area and leads on some good local hikes. The camping area itself was easily accessible with our RWD vehicle and it was clean, well made, and unobstructed. Animals were curious about visitors and friendly (especially the llamas and goats). The communal prep area was helpful for storing food before we cooked and I enjoyed resting the the rocking chair and looking out over the pasture. The grill (charcoal/wood) and fire pit we used worked perfectly for our needs (steamed/heated dishes in aluminum foil pouches). Highly recommend and intent to visit again.

From the warm welcome, to meeting our hosts friends - the barn cat, the llamas, the alpacas, the goats, bunnies, and more - to the amazing fire pit, the cosy house and its amenities, the camping platforms, the rolling green fields, the gardens, and the bright stars at night... This was one amazing visit to Hard Earth Farm.

Our family had the most marvelous time at Hard Earth Farm. We were met with our host and her friends (goats, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, a horse, and one amazing barn cat) and the fun began!
The fire pit, new bathroom, the cozy shack, the platforms, the gardens, the animals, the hike, the creek, the hosts, the stunning views... The bright stars at night and tranquility... LOVE this place!!

My daughter decided she wanted a farm camping experience for her seventh birthday. We and her best friend and family spent three nights at Hard Earth Farm, and I can't say enough about how wonderful it was. Pam and Micky were the most gracious hosts, going so far above with their hospitality and really welcoming us into their day-to-day experiences. We milked goats, brushed and fed rabbits, were honored with llama kisses, and made good friends with the sturdiest, snuggliest barn cat I've ever met. The accommodations were so nice: new platforms for our tents kept us off the ground and away from creepy crawlies; The new bath house is luxurious with a sink, shower, and toilet; The Cozy House is a charming home base that has a little fridge, microwave, and a fan (which meant a lot on this super hot weekend). There is also a great fire pit area down the valley a bit near to the camp sites that is cool in the evening. Aside from all of the fun farm activities, there are some great hiking trails that go down to a lovely creek. We spent a morning wading up and down there, and then it was a quick drive over to the nearby lake to cool off in the afternoon.
Pam and Micky also have a really beautiful garden they are cultivating, and the beginnings of a lovely vineyard. It is inspiring to see the work they are doing to rehabilitate what was clear cut lumber land not too many years ago. With sustainable farming and responsible animal husbandry, they really demonstrate what small farming looks like today. I am so grateful to them for sharing this wonderful experience with us, and the girls had the very best time. It's a lovely property, and we can't wait to go back. Though maybe in March when the goats are being born and it's not 97 degrees ;)

Hard Earth Farm is an oasis just a short drive from the city of Augusta. It has been a wonderful escape for me and I plan to return again soon. With rolling hills, small creeks and beautiful forests and pastures, this place won't disappoint. An easy drive and an escape into nature.
Pam and Mickey have thought of everything. They are wonderful hosts and depending on your interest, you can rough it or stay close to the farm...its your choice. Will be back for sure!
