Near Congaree National Park

Within a 30-minute drive from the Harry Hampton.

The cottage Tree house is located on 2.5 acres of wooded property. Check in time is 4pm and checkout is 11am. The tree house comes with all amenities for our guest and has an upper deck with seating and a charcoal grill. The lower deck has seating and space and just sit and relax or enjoy breakfast and coffee. There is a half bath on the lower deck and a full bath in the tree house with a walk in shower. We do allow pets. The house is on a mini split system for heat and air. We do live on the property and use the deck under the treehouse as there is a bathroom there and a tool room. You may walk the property however there are areas under construction we do not allow our guests to go.We are 5 minutes and 3 miles from Congaree National Park where you can hike the multiply trails including the firefly trail. We offer 15% discount code for kayaking on the congaree river. The property is very private and off the beaten path of everyday life. We are 20 minutes out from the city center. If you looking for a quiet relaxing retreat this is the place.

Cottage close to Congaree

Cottage tree house

Cute and cozy cottage, eclectic boho style decor is nicely done. The setting is quiet and the view from the porch is pretty and peaceful. The close location to Congaree National Park is perfect! The kitchen is well stocked, the tv streaming services and wifi worked well as did the air conditioning and fans. In my opinion the beds could be updated- the bunk bed was shaky, the mattress sunk in the middle and the bed linens seemed old. There is a friendly cat on the property that followed us inside and was happy to stay with us. There is a pet door for him to go in and out. Not a problem for us but fyi if you’re sensitive to cat hair. Overall there were no problems and we would stay there again. I love the hipcamp option when traveling!

We had mixed feelings on this stay. First, the good parts. The cottage itself was cute, though there are some maintenance-type issues that should be corrected, such as broken tiles in the shower. This didn't detract much from the stay. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking, which we did a lot of, and that was appreciated. There is very easy access to Congaree as the listing states, and it's a quick trip into Columbia. The downside: The setting was not as private as we had expected. The listing states, "The property is very private and off the beaten path of everyday life." That said, the hosts/owners of the property are adjacent to the cottage and were around most of our stay, using the first floor of the cottage. Upon arrival we found out the first floor is actually a shared space, which is not indicated in the listing. We anticipated having the entire property to ourselves, which was not the case. We were also asked to avoid walking around certain parts of the property. The "master" bedroom has poor ventilation, and utilizes a noisy AC unit for cooling, this made it really difficult to sleep for my wife. The beds need some attention, as none have box-springs. This was a no-go for me, as I have a bad back; I ended up sleeping on the couch the whole stay as a result. Lastly, it's a bit smaller than we expected--I'd guess the second floor is around 600sf. Just for awareness, no dishwasher or washer/dryer are available.
