Koala Sanctuary indeed. Lots of these beautiful bears along with Emus & Roos & Galah, galah, galah. Gorgeous nature lovers campground with an historic cottage to explore. Toilets & Shower, firepit to create that real magickal camping vibe. This place is well loved & respected. The ancestors presence was powerful.

The toilets and shower were dirty. You had to stand in a tub to use the shower and then I lifted it to see if there was a drain it was full of hair. The light in the women's toilet did not work. A decomposing kangaroo carcass had been left in the camping area for so long you could see part of its skeleton. I love that the campsite supports the local koala population, but as a campsite it was unappealing.

We loved, our short stay at Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary. The ability to see, the koalas up so close and in the wild was outstanding. The directions to get to the property were very clear and the host so helpful and friendly. A lovely night of off grid caravanning!\

My partner and I stayed here to see koalas in the wild. We thought we would be lucky to see one or two but I quickly lost count of how many koala's there were and we visited on a rainy and windy evening. It is an amazing place and one of my highlights on our trip to the Eyre Peninsula. We stayed over the Easter holidays and there was still plenty of space to select your campsite away from other campers. Thank you to Helen for opening up her place to the public.

I was attracted to this site for the koalas and they we're amazing! I can't believe I came across a family tree of koalas!
However, I did expect a hot shower which I was looking forward to as I had been shark diving that day and I needed a wash. Unfortunately there was not water pressure/water available the night I was there and confirmed the same with other campers, this was a disappointing and made do with another classic eyre penisula cold wash down.
This wouldn't be a deterrent for me for a future visit, more of a consideration that due to availability of water in the area a shower may not be available.

We had a fantastic stay at Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary! It’s the perfect spot for camping—especially in a motorhome, with plenty of space and a peaceful setting. We were lucky to see so many koalas up close, which made the experience truly special. Helen is absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend this spot for nature lovers and campers alike!

Great campground. You can find kangaroos , and koalas everywhere.
The only problem was that hot water wasn’t working so I didn’t enjoy taking showers

Peaceful spot. Lots of koalas, kangaroos, and emus. Our kids are koala obsessed so this was their dream! Spacious unassigned camping. Plenty of space to run and ride bikes. An old homestead to look at. Camp is a lot drier than in the Hipcamp photos- just like the rest of SA at the moment. Fingers crossed for rain soon.

This is an absolute, do not miss, camp! The camp host Helen, is wonderful, knowledgeable and a tremendous steward to the property. The koalas are right there in the trees just outside of camp! Emus and kangaroos come and feed on the grass in camp during the day. This is a special place and we'll worth a visit.

Beautiful green and large area to camp. The wildlife was amazing, we saw plenty of placid koalas, kangaroos and emus. The most wildlife we have seen up this close in our travels. Highly recommend.
The host was great, coming past for a check in and chat everyday, giving tips on exploring the property and making sure we were enjoying our stay

I booked this for my husband and son, they absolutely loved it! Their camp was next to the beautiful koalas, a nice campfire area and everything they needed. Will definitely do a family trip there next season. Just hearing the excitement in my son’s voice was worth the trip.

The natural beauty and history of the property is well preserved and well kept. Helen communicates promptly and effectively sharing lots of knowledge about the koalas and the local area. Directions are easy to follow. The camp area is yours to choose where you camp with some pre set areas out of the wind and the addition of fire pits being available kept us warm.

Absolutely stunning! The koalas were so close, there is a historic homestead & the toilet & shower were very clean.

We loved camping here so much! Make sure you add on Helen’s tour it will give you such a deeper understanding and appreciation of the property and the wildlife. Helen tells the story of this land and the Koalas with passion and good humour. We saw so many koalas the kids lost count. This should be on the ‘must do’ list for every family.

Very easy to book. Great place to camp, stayed the one night. Koalas easy to spot and had about 8 within 100 metres from our camp. Could see one climb and feed from our camp. Lots of other wild life and birds to see. Walk to historic homestead was great also. Would say again when back in the Port Lincoln area

Lots of space for our large 2WD motorhome, with a fire pit nearby and other people staying about 50 metres away. So many koalas to check out.
We booked a tour, for which we paid $20 x 2 for 2 people, when in fact two people doing 1 tour only need to pay $20. The tour was good value, so paying double was no big deal.
We found driving into the property a bit challenging. The degree of corrugation of the public road before the entry gate is dependent on the grading schedule ( it wasn’t too bad when we came through). However road inside the property had significant pot holing and corrugations when we used it, and required slow and careful driving.

What an amazing experience! I came with a friend from France who literally shed tears of joy when a koala walked right up to her! Helen is a delightful host who got some kindling for our wood and lit a campfire while we set up after arriving late afternoon. Shower is nice and hot and it’s great to be able to choose your site. Interesting history tour with Helen and her son.

Amazing to be surrounded with animals and bird life, especially the koalas. Huge space so didn’t need to invade other campers space. This is a historical site so also some lovely walks to see old cottages, dry stone wall fences and sheep yards. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks Helen for allowing us to stay on your land.

Helen was a lovely host with knowledgeable information in regard to the koalas and her families farm, clearly she cares great about the welfare and responsibility this entails. It was amazing that you could get so close to wild koalas and observe them sleeping and eating. It’s what they do!! A fantastic camping experience for kids and adults alike.

We stayed here for four nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The best place we have ever camped!
Helen, the host, was so informative and helpful. Her family have been on the property for generations and she obviously enjoyed the chance to share the place she loves with visitors. Wildlife everywhere, emus stepping past your door, large mobs of kangaroos wherever you look and of course the koalas… Such a peaceful place to camp and so much room. Helen can also provide access to nearby Whalers Way which was just stunning! We spent a whole day there and it was the most memorable day of our trip.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Mikkira Station to anyone. We will be back!

Mikkira station is a wonderful gem in the Eye Peninsula.
If you go to Port Lincoln, stay nowhere else but here! Magic place,m in the bush, but toilets are cleaner than most post places in town we’ve been to, honestly! Nice hot shower. The landscape is incredibly suggestive, and we could see loads of Roos and some emus too. The place is an old sheep station.
We could see 22 🐨
We just stayed one night, but for the next travelers, plese allow yourselves a couple of days to enjoy this place properly. Calm, quiet, also because a part from us there were 3 more caravans only. And they were 200/300 m far from our spot. Helen came to say hello at our arrival and in the morning giving us recommendations. Thank you 🙏
