The Chookhouse is situated approximately 20 minutes south of Toowoomba on 23 acres. This is a Hobby Farm, so everything is in close proximity to each other. There are noises like Roosters crowing etc. When you are travelling on Shepperd Road look for our Chook mailbox, that is the driveway you need to take. LONG TERM RENTALS We can also accommodate long term rentals. Please contact us for further information. If possible we would prefer self contained set ups; however not essential. AMENITIES Amenity block with hot water and flushing toilets for powered sites unpowered sites may purchase and an extra with booking We also have bush toilets. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE. WE DO NOT HAVE WATER TO FILL YOUR CARAVAN. Plenty of room for self-contained caravans/motorhomes and places to pitch a tent or camper. National Parks, walking trails, Wineries, Gourmet Pubs and Restaurants, Markets, two magnificent parks with play areas for children and so many other points of interest to see and discover. So many animals here! Help us feed the chooks, collect eggs. After we have done the chickens, we head down to the Sheep, Goats, Alpacas, our cow Panda and her husband Bully and son Dave. Here you will be able to feed them all some bread which they just love. So any bread donations are greatly accepted by all of them:) We then head in to give Miss Piggy and Pippa their share of bread. Miss Piggy loves posing for the camera. Sit under the stars and toast your marshmallows by your fire pit. Safe place to leave your gear while out exploring the Darling Downs and surrounds. The grandkids loved their weekend at the Chookhouse. Rob and Michael spent quality time with the kids at animal feeding time and nothing was too much trouble. Even though it was a wet weekend our site was grassy and very well drained. Thanks for a great time.

Site 1 - Paddock Camp

The animal feeding was a definite highlight and the kids really loved it. Michael was so patient and kind to the kids and went above and beyond to involve them, play with them and even learned their names. Unfortunately the woodfire pizza advertised wasn't there and we only found out when I asked how to book it the day before going there. We were also disappointed in the attitudes of the owners/ staff who yelled at the kids and made us feel uncomfortable when we asked for something. At night dogs barking, cats fighting and cars driving past kept us awake and there were big floodlights on right in the middle so it was also more difficult to see the stars. The grounds were very picturesque and the animal feeding was definitely a highlight, but unfortunately we will not be coming back.

Children loved the farm animals

Excellent value for children to have the experience of feeding farm animals close up. They loved it all. Best to be fully self contained as the bathroom facilities are shared with just one shower with little privacy. But that was manageable. The stay under the pepperina trees on power was pretty and cool. Dogs barked a bit.

Won’t be staying here again.

We were not provided the spot we booked. We arrived at the place and could not locate the owners. An other camper took us to a random person who claimed to be the occasional helper and he in formed us that some campers had taken up more space than they should have so they put us in the unpowered area but provided us with power, right next to what looked like an old asbestos building falling apart. We were sharing a fence line with 2 big non camping dogs, presumably the owners, who barked every time we moved. The toilets were mostly clean but smelt terrible every use. The permanent residents were smoking right where we had to walk to the toilets and showers, which also happened to be where kids were playing.

Amazing place to stay, grounds are very well kept, and feeding the farm animals is a nice touch of something different to do. Host's were amazing and very accommodating. Amenities were very clean and tidy.

A authentic farm stay like no other! Beautiful scenery, friendly staff and gorgeous animals. Our little one loved running through the paddocks after the peacocks and feeding the camels. Thank you for having us Rob & Jennie, we will definitely be back. - Lewana, Trevor & little Stella.

We spent a night at Chookhouse. Our kids had the best time on the trampoline and exploring. Our camp breakfast was visited by peacocks and chooks, very entertaining.

Great people, great tour and interaction with the farm animals. A large variety of animals was also fun. The camp grounds where clean and well maintained, close to Toowoomba too. The direction the park is taking to make it even more engaging for campers is good to hear too.

Very helpful and kind staff. A great farmstay especially if you have kids, or if you like animals it’s for you. Felt guilty putting the van on the beautiful grassed site. Country quiet but 15 mins from Toowoomba. Enjoyed animal antics especially the peacocks wandering around. A great stay

We parked our RV on the grass not far from the gate. We stayed 3 nights to explore Toowoomba, such a nice town. We were taken on the feed run at 4pm giving bread to all the animals. We would recommend this place with friendly staff along with Rob and Jennie.

Privacy of shower needs improving, plot is close to road and train tracks with big rail train nightly at 3am. Staff were great and place is lovely other than road and train tracks.

Michael & Sandra, the managers of the farm are so lovely and friendly. The toilets and showers were clean, the animals were adorable, and it was lovely waking up to their noises and sounds every morning.

Lovely experience, very accommodating of our group of young men who had disabilities. The guys loved all the variety of different animals, and had the feeding experience was great. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a fantastic time and we will be back

Host's are friendly but keep in mind this is a working farm so there are very noisy animals both thru day and at night. Had dogs constantly barking thru night booked to stay 7 nights but had to stay in a hotel as couldn't sleep with the dogs carrying on.

Too expensive

To us the rate was way too high compared to the amenities that this campsite has to offer. We have visited many farmcamps in Queensland with the same scenery and animals and more amenities for half the price. The scenery is nice though and it had friendly caretakers.
