Perfectly situated to explore the Mackay region, Altmann Country is an 80 acre property located in a quiet hidden valley central to both the Pioneer Valley and Whitsundays. Bordering a national park and surrounded by a beautiful creek there is plenty to see and do. Take a short walk to the incredible Devils Pools - filled with an abundance of wildlife including platypus, turtles and eels and perfect for a swim. Spend a day checking out the gorgeous beaches and national parks in the Mackay region. Drive an hour north to the Whitsundays or an hour west to Eungella. Pick up the essentials from Marian Town Centre - only a 10 minute drive away. Or simply relax and take in the tranquillity that Altmann Country offers.

We had a great few days away at Altmann Country. A very quiet place close to lots of places to visit and explore. The kids loved using the kayaks and Turing their bikes.

Not a bad camp devil's pool is must. The owner nerds to invest some sort of communication like two way radio or something as there are no reception where the spots are

Xmas tree tent camp
Tranquil setting
Overall it’s a pleasant camping area. Sandy flats is actually a riverbed that would flood with heavy rain. So we camped on the grassy area instead. 3 groups of campers there all paid for the wood bundle which never arrived. So would recommend to take your own. Devils pools was definitely worth the walk.

Take your own dry firewood.
My response is not a low rating, but I'm jolly glad I took my own fire wood as, even though I did forget to order, but sent a message to ask if I could purchase on site on the day, in which the proprietor said ok no worries. We arrived and the pile of wood was saturated, I think if you're offering such a service you could at least store it in a dry position as not all campers are as resourceful or prepared. My Camp areas were far from level , but again we are resourceful and made the best of the site available. It's a lovely area but I think the lack of attention to detail will limit the long term viability of this site. Christmas tree site.

Xmas tree tent camp
Not what we expected
Photos of the property are not a true reflection of the reality of the property, the camping area is just a section of area in front of the property No communication from host to explain about the camp sites, camp sites are not well marked Fire wood that was paid for was not supplied to any of the campers. The creek is murky and un-inviting, mud map to the water falls is hard to follow. 4x4’s driving past constantly. Still waiting for the complimentary garbage bag 😉
